Chapter 1294: Chapter 437: Valziger Ruins

Very soon, Rein smoothly completed the other processes, reaching the final sun-drying phase.

”Lord Rein, that’s it. Given the current weather, after two days of sun exposure, the tanning of this raw sheepskin should be thoroughly complete,” old Henry said, greatly gratified, stroking his beard with a smile.

At the same time, he couldn’t help but glance at the dozens of apprentices nearby, thinking to himself, if any of these people had even half the ability of Lord Rein here, his skin tanning craft would truly flourish.

”Hmm? Does it need two days of sun exposure?” Rein raised an eyebrow and asked.

Two days were too long; he planned to complete the job transfer today.

”Yes, but Lord Rein, we can learn the following arts first, like painting, production, and so on,” old Henry explained, not quite understanding why Rein was suddenly frowning.

”No, I might have another way,” Rein said.

Hmm?

In the Imperial City, with this temperature and humidity, it indeed needed two days!

For a moment, old Henry couldn’t understand how Lord Rein planned to sun-dry.

Suddenly, a wave of scorching air formed around them, and the moisture on the surface of the raw sheepskin in Rein’s hands evaporated visibly.

”This... This is witchcraft!”

”Lord Rein is a Wizard?!” old Henry was dumbfounded.

Because Rein was wearing a noble hunting outfit today, he didn’t realize that the other party was actually a Wizard.

”Using witchcraft to dry the hide? Isn’t that too extravagant?” the young apprentices at the side were all shocked as they watched the scene unfold, their hands pausing in their tasks.

However, after the initial shock, old Henry shook his head slightly.

In reality, he didn’t favor using witchcraft to dry hides, because even for a First Level Wizard, controlling the temperature of witchcraft was still quite difficult.

For instance, a fireball can reach several thousand degrees; controlling it to drop to sixty to seventy degrees to dry raw hide was too challenging. In the past, Wizards and Wizard Apprentices from the Snyder family had tried, but they all failed.

This drying process can’t tolerate high temperatures; it’s like boiling soft-boiled eggs — the higher the temperature doesn’t mean it cooks faster.

But what old Henry didn’t know was that Rein was using the Fire Witchcraft ’High Temperature Force Field,’ a type of fire elemental force field witchcraft, which has temperatures much lower than other fire element witchcrafts.

Coupled with Rein’s control as a Third Level Crystalized Wizard, he masterfully controlled the temperature, quickly drying the raw hide.

This sight left old Henry’s eyes gleaming repeatedly!

This level of precision in temperature control is perfect!

”It’s done, Lord Rein,” a few minutes later, old Henry wiped the already dried hide, clicking his tongue in wonder.

As these ten pieces of raw sheepskin were finished, a system prompt sounded:

[Host detected to have met the prerequisites for promotion to Skin Tanner: One, Tanner Apprentice lv3 max level; Two, Agility above 5 points, Strength above 5 points, Constitution above 5 points; Three, produce ten qualified processed hides of any type. All current conditions are met, would you like to promote to Skin Tanner?]

[Note: Upon promotion to Skin Tanner, the new Skin Tanner profession panel will overwrite the original Tanner Apprentice panel.]

Evidently, regarding whether to change professions, there was no need to ponder. Rein chose ”Yes!” without hesitation.

[Ding! Promotion successful!]

[Promotion to Skin Tanner successful! Strength +1, Agility +1! Obtained Skin Tanner Core Skill: Hide Processing lv1]

[Hide Processing lv1 (passive): Due to your frequent handling of hides, the success rate of hide processing is improved.]

Hide processing?

Well, this truly is a classic enhancement of tanning abilities.

Meanwhile, the previous Tanner Apprentice panel had vanished, replaced by a Skin Tanner panel, a similarly blank panel.

Below the panel was a brand new icon frame, which glimmered slightly around the edges.

Rein immediately focused his attention on the icon.

The icon depicted a person inside a circular stone vat, vigorously tossing hides.

Beneath the icon was a line of small text:

[Core Skill: Hide Processing lv1 (passive)]

Hide Processing lv1 (passive) effect: additional ten percent success rate increased for any hide processing.

”Is lv1 a ten percent probability increase? At least it’s better than nothing,” Rein nodded slightly in understanding.

Of course, he wouldn’t consider allocating precious Skill Points to hide processing.

”Master Henry, shall we proceed with learning the subsequent procedures?” Rein, in good spirits, turned to old Henry, who was attentively examining the rapid drying he had achieved using ’High Temperature Force Field.’

”Oh! Oh! Alright, Lord Rein, I was just observing the witchcraft you just performed; it seems a bit different from common fire element witchcraft. The temperature wasn’t very high, and the airflow was quite turbulent.”

”It’s absolutely the perfect witchcraft for accelerating drying... uh! The old man is not good with words.”

At this moment, old Henry suddenly recalled Lord Luther’s reminder earlier. He then realized that the young man before him wasn’t his apprentice, but a strong individual like Lord Luther.

Calling the other’s witchcraft extremely suitable for skin tanning was evidently rude and quite offensive.

”It’s alright, Master Henry. Your dedication to improving the craftsmanship of tanning is admirable,” Rein naturally didn’t mind the unintentional offense, especially since the other party was focused on a specific task.

”Lord Rein, should we continue learning the subsequent skills, or should we take a break first?”
