Wizard starting from shoeing donkeys

Chapter 1273: Chapter 430: Bait

The opponent’s giant claw seemed unprepared for such an occurrence, and under Rein’s vigorous tugging, the claw was suddenly pulled into the Secret Realm.

Yet, then, before Rein could finish his transformation completely, the opponent decisively released the black-robed girl and retreated like lightning.

”Swoosh!”

At that moment, a flash of light swept across the opponent’s wrist!

A furious roar emanated from the other side of the rift, while on the ground, Hass left behind a pool of glowing blood, though the giant claw was still pulled back!

It was Lambert who wielded the sword, but his expression was solemn.

Even under the full might of his Sword of Belief, the opponent was only slightly injured. This clearly indicated that the opponent was an epic-level presence.

Meanwhile, the rift began to quickly shrink, reducing from a diameter of several meters to palm-sized, and then rapidly disappeared without a trace.

”Such a swift escape...”

Seeing this, Rein naturally gave up the continued transformation, reverting back to human form.

He approached the pool of blood, squatted down, and carefully sensed it.

There was a strangely familiar aura in the glowing blood, and thinking back to the forearm part of the claw revealed by his tug, Rein immediately seemed to understand.

”Lord Rein, could the opponent be a Giant Dragon?” Lambert seemed to have thought of something, expressing surprise and uncertainty.

”It should be a Void Dragon, and moreover, an epic-level one.” Rein glanced at Lambert, nodded, and said.

”But aren’t the dragons here supposed to be juvenile giants? Even if tainted by void energy, they shouldn’t reach epic-level.” Nearby, Captain Baldwin from the military department couldn’t help but question.

”I can’t be sure about the specifics, but judging by the blood left behind and the shape of that giant claw, it’s undoubtedly a Void Dragon.” Rein said.

”Captain Baldwin, I can affirm that during my full-force sword strike, the opponent only suffered minor injuries. If it were at a legendary level, its claw would have been severed by me.” Lambert echoed beside.

”Understood.” Baldwin nodded, saying.

Rein glanced at the black-robed girl who seemed asleep but was long devoid of heartbeat, and a spark of spirit light crossed his mind suddenly.

”Perhaps, I could think of a way to make it strike again.”

”At present, it seems this Void Dragon is quite interested in the vessel descending on the Nether Sea Goddess Hela.”

Rein’s eyes flickered, contemplating.

As the transition requires a complete essence of giant dragon blood, Rein has kept it in mind persistently.

Although the Void Dragon is a giant dragon tainted by void energy, originally it was a purebred Giant Dragon, fundamentally different from the wyvern and Ancestor Dragon he previously killed.

Rein is quite confident that if he can kill this Void Dragon, the blood essence acquired would likely fulfill the last requirement for a Dragon Vein Wizard transition—”a complete essence of giant dragon blood.”

However, to lure the opponent into action again, the space stability cannot be so high.

At the current level of stability, the opponent might simply be unable to enter.

After pondering, Rein took out a well-preserved thin plate from his bosom and actively contacted the command center:

”Command Center, this is Rein.”

At that moment, in the Imperial City Tamriel, the astrologers were immersed in the scene where Rein swiftly defeated the avatar of the Nether Sea Goddess.

”The strength Lord Rein demonstrated just now must surely be epic-level, right?”

With the vibration of the communicator, everyone snapped back, noticing Tatia picking up the plate, somewhat excitedly, and saying:

”Lord Rein, this is Tatia.”

”Lord Tatia, could you please help me contact Marshal Alfred.”

”Okay, Lord Rein, please wait a moment.”

Perhaps for regular task execution personnel, directly speaking to the Marshal would be considered an overstep, but for Rein, it seemed quite natural to everyone.

”Lord Rein, this is Alfred; first congratulations on defeating the avatar of the Nether Sea Goddess. When you return to the Imperial City, we will immediately award you.” Marshal Alfred expressed with a serious tone, yet unable to conceal his joy.

The incident of the Nether Sea Goddess Hela intruding into the Dragon Valley Secret Realm had exceeded the worst contingency plan prepared.

However, concerning the void creatures outside the Secret Realm space, the command center had earlier made targeted deployments, thus enabling the rift closer’s full-capacity emergency plan.

”Thank you, Marshal. I wish to request the rift closer’s power adjustment back to its original frequency, can it be done?”

Rein’s words made Alfred puzzled for a moment, but soon he reacted, saying:

”This is exactly what we wanted to discuss with you. Adjusting the power is inevitable; otherwise, the rift closer won’t support even a month without exhausting its energy.”

”Originally, the rift closer was designed with a cycle architecture, allowing the multiple witch arrays within to absorb energy from the void, thereby stabilizing the Secret Realm space.”

”Yet, this can only be used sustainably under low power operation. If running at full capacity, energy depletion accelerates.”

”We initially planned to adjust the power after your task ended. If done now, and influenced by the energy from the recent battle, any localized legendary peak-level battle shortly could cause a rift again.”

”Yes, thank you, Marshal for your concern. But I hope we can adjust it now, is that possible?” Rein smiled, saying.
