Chapter 292 – 173: Seems Like Another Big Deal Has Been Accomplained!_2

“Die!”

With the roar came a powerful, forceful strike from the knight’s longsword!

Indeed, as a seasoned knight, Endri’s poison gas tactics had little effect on seasoned knights.

It merely slowed the opponent’s speed and accuracy.

However…

The opponent clearly underestimated Rein’s strength.

Assuming Rein used poison because he lacked in strength.

Already less skilled than Rein, even slightly affected by the poison, this further widened the gap between their strengths!

“Clang!”

The swords clashed!

The next second, the sound of a blade cutting into flesh rang out.

“Ptui!”

In just one encounter, Rein’s blade had penetrated the opponent’s right shoulder joint, slicing upwards and severing it completely.

A forearm holding a knight’s longsword flew into the air!

“Ptui!”

Another sword strike saw Rein take a sidestep to the seasoned knight’s left rear side, quickly chopping down at a weak spot behind the opponent’s kneecap armor, severing one of his legs.

“Ah! Who exactly are you?”

“Ah! Why are you attacking us?”

The head of the rebel guards screamed out in pain while incessantly asking questions.

But Rein did not pay attention.

It was you who attacked me first.

Thus, naturally, you must endure the pain of my retaliation! Rein thought to himself.

Seeing this spectacle, other rebel elites turned as pale as death!

Their own boss, a seasoned knight, had been taken down in two moves and was now wailing in a pool of blood.

Their strength, naturally, was even inferior.

Seeking to save their lives, many began to try and get up, planning to run towards the tunnels around them.

But after being poisoned, they now staggered like drunkards, falling down as soon as they got up, then struggling to rise again only to fall down under the stimulation of their survival instincts.

After repeating this several times, most of them could no longer stand up, their expressions either blank or frightened, and they began to babble incoherently.

Clearly, the hallucinogenic poison gas had started to act quickly among these people!

Rein nodded to himself, observing this scene. The hallucinogenic poison gas was effective against a large number of ordinary people, avoiding the awkward situation of overkilling.

At that moment, except for a few prospective knights who could still struggle a bit, the rest were like meat on a chopping block.

After sparing a few who clearly looked like rebel leaders, Rein killed off the others one by one with his sword.

Immediately after, Rein began to search the area.

As this was a base for an organization, there was a rich reserve of materials — stacks of smoked meat, loads of cabbages, potatoes, and other food.

In a small room used as an armory, various weapons were displayed, such as knight’s longswords, shields, dual-handed greatswords, and several brand-new matchlock guns.

Seemingly having thought of something, Rein, originally planning to check the next room, stopped in his tracks, turned back into the small room, and picked up a matchlock gun.

Although Rein was not very familiar with matchlock guns, after seeing pirates during the “Shipwreck” battle, who had to light a matchlock before firing, he knew it was a primitive type of firearm.

It seemed that according to the development course of his previous life, after matchlock guns came flintlock guns?

Rein shook his head slightly because that was not his focus.

What he had noticed was the barrel of the matchlock gun.

In the moment he turned to leave, the corner of his eye was caught by the shiny barrel, the craftsmanship of which seemed quite unusual…

It looked like some kind of stainless steel!

He had heard last time that these matchlock guns all came from the Eagle Federation…

Indeed, after a closer inspection of the barrel, Rein confirmed his suspicion.

Considering the manufacturing technique of this barrel, the metallurgical level of the Eagle Federation was high, which sparked many thoughts in Rein.

After a moment of contemplation, Rein took down the matchlock guns.

He planned to study them slowly after returning home.

When Rein entered another separate compartment nearby, upon entering, he saw a few bottles of Bordeaux aging on a table and the wine in the wooden cup shimmering like a ruby.

He could not help but shake his head and exclaim:

“Tsk tsk, the living conditions of the rebels are quite luxurious,” he remarked.

“Eh? Isn’t that the Crowley family’s crest?” Rein glanced unintentionally and spotted that familiar pattern — a kite shield adorned with a rose-like flower on the surface of a wooden crate loaded with Bordeaux vintage.

Undoubtedly, it was the Crowley family’s emblem.

This immediately made Rein frown.

Could it be that the Crowley family was connected to the Zaral rebels?

No, that can’t be right!

The image of Baroness Crowley, with her voluptuous and beautiful figure, slipped into Rein’s mind inadvertently.

The matriarch of the Crowley family wouldn’t be that foolish.

If she supplied wine to the rebels, even an idiot would know to erase your family’s crest thoroughly.

Could someone have purchased it from the Crowley family’s store and then supplied it to the rebels?

Forget it, why guess randomly when I can just ask directly.

Luckily, I didn’t kill all of these people!

Only after questioning a few leaders again did Rein realize.

It turned out that these precious Bordeaux vintages had come from bandits disguised as rebels, looted along the way.

This means that these ten or so wooden crates of Bordeaux vintage should indeed belong to the Crowley family.

It seemed that on this occasion, the Crowley family had suffered a significant loss!

After briefly taking inventory of the supplies within the base, Rein looked at the large pile of goods before him and couldn’t help but fall into thought.

Since I am just one person, obviously, no matter how strong, I cannot carry so much back to Flashgold Town.

Additionally, it is best to erase any traces, which means I should blow up this abandoned mine.

The nearly a thousand Gold Coins found should naturally be taken, and these few matchlock guns too. As for the Bordeaux vintage…

I might as well take them all.

Who else but myself serves as the guardian knight of the Crowley family!

Rein discovered that one day he would actually be troubled by too much loot.

It seemed this was the only way.

Rein utilized the flatbed cart found within the base to transport the Bordeaux vintage and some of the more valuable goods to a spot near the mine, concealed and marked them.

Then he returned and carried several kegs of gunpowder to the middle section of the narrow mine tunnel and connected them with a fuse before igniting it.

As Rein swiftly fled the mine, seconds later, a dull explosion sounded from the entrance of the mine, followed by a powerful blast that swept up the surrounding leaves and stones.

After doing all this, Rein began his journey back to where he had hidden his horse.

The sun set in the west, a thin mist rose over Flashgold Town, shimmering in the sunset like a thin golden veil.

When Rein arrived home, he saw his sister Bo He playing with their greyhound ’Cookie’ in the front yard.

Since Anna had left, his sister Bo He had been sullen for quite some time.

Fortunately, as ’Cookie’ grew up, it was gradually able to accompany Bo He in her play.

Thinking of this, Rein couldn’t help but think of the intelligence potion. As for the ingredients, he had already prepared them in Rosby City’s Nightingale Market. He planned to make it when he found time, perhaps even further enhancing ’Cookie’s intelligence.

“Brother, Brother is back!” With the increasingly distinct sound of hooves, Bo He suddenly looked up, stunned for a moment, then joyfully shouted.

…

Dinner time.

The Rein family sat around the wooden dining table.

“Rein, you say you’re now a baron?”

Emma, his mother, dropped her wooden spoon with a ’clang’ into her soup bowl, splashing some vegetable broth, her eyes widening in shock as she stared at her son.

Although she knew her son had gone to participate in the noble investiture exam, she had only ever hoped that he might pass and become a distinguished knight lord.

How could Emma have imagined that her son could skip two ranks and become a baron directly!

Good heavens!

Goddess above!

Old Rein’s jaw also dropped in disbelief, looking at his son.

He never thought that he would one day be the father of a baron!

Only sister Bo He seemed a bit bewildered, flapping her long eyelashes, peering at her brother, then turning to their parents.

Judging by the expressions of her parents, Bo He could be sure of one thing.

That was that her brother Rein had done something remarkable once again!
