Chapter 252 – 160: Truly Scum to the Sky (Two in One Mega Chapter)_4

Rein continued to ponder.

Because a comment from Colonel Connor had made a deep impression on him.

“The Sword Bearers is a privileged organization that spans across the entire empire. If you could join, you would break out of the bounds of Meister County, even out of Mingster Province.”

“You will come into contact with a far broader world!”

Would he come into contact with a far broader world? Rein murmured to himself.

“In that case, the minimum criteria for my baronial evaluation must be to achieve the highest evaluation, that of a Baron.”

“It seems I need to prepare well.”

After all, even if he achieved the Baron evaluation, it didn’t guarantee that he would receive an invitation from the Empire’s ’Sword Bearers.’

Only the sufficiently outstanding can stand out!

With this thought, Rein’s eyes gradually brightened.

At that moment, the laughter of Jenny and Agatha, like silver bells, came from the doorway of the library. They had just seen Rein so absorbed and had quietly left the library without accompanying him the whole time.

Rein checked the time, it was exactly noon. It seemed the two ladies had likely come to invite him to join them for lunch.

…

In the afternoon, after finishing with the Wigging family’s visit, Rein declined Jenny’s invitation to visit the Crowley family and, after exchanging at the County Town military supplies store for a new set of chrome-iron armor and otter leather armor, took a carriage back to Flashgold Town.

The otter leather armor was something Hamilton had reminded him to prepare, as the baron evaluation was to take place in Rosby City, which is close to the sea.

However, upon arriving at Flashgold Town, Rein did not go home directly but first stopped by Hamilton’s office.

Since Rein planned to leave for Rosby City in a few days, he first came to greet Hamilton.

“Oh, Rein, what brings you here?”

“Right, there’s something I forgot to tell you. Since you solved that mysterious event at Agatha Mill last time, several nobles have contacted me, wishing to convey through me their hope that you might help solve some mysterious events on their estates.”

“However, considering that you are about to participate in the baronial evaluation, I thought these matters could be deferred. After all, if any accident happens and affects your performance during the evaluation, that would be too great a loss.”

“So, I’ve already declined them on your behalf.”

“Thank you, sir,” Rein nodded.

He himself had the same intention; he needed to make some preparations before departing and it indeed wasn’t a suitable time to deal with these mysterious events.

Furthermore, after the recent event with the ’Mother Tree Sect’ in Nightingale Forest, Rein felt that the level of danger of mysterious events varied greatly and was much higher than he had initially estimated.

Especially because of the special nature of the mysterious events, their investigation reports were often inaccurate.

“Rein, did you come here to tell me that you are planning to depart in a few days?” Hamilton asked proactively.

“Yes, sir, I plan to leave ten days from now.”

“Ten days from now?” Hamilton pondered and then advised, “Rein, I suggest you might leave a few days earlier. After all, arriving earlier will give you ample time to familiarize yourself with the surrounding environment.”

“You are very thoughtful, sir. Then I will leave seven days from now,” Rein calculated and said.

….

When Rein returned home, he suddenly found the house much quieter, and his mother Emma looked at him with a reproachful gaze.

As Rein was baffled, his younger sister Bo He rushed into his arms, looking upset, and said, “Brother, Sister Anna has left too…”

“Hmm?”

“What?” Rein’s heart skipped a beat, and he immediately asked back.

“Sister Anna has left. It seems… she left you a letter; it’s on your bedside,” his sister Bo He said with her eyes wide open.
