Chapter 219 – 152 The 2nd Witchcraft (2-in-1 Big Chapter)_3

Ice Frost Witchcraft?

Rein fell into deep thought.

From the description, it seemed to be an area-of-effect witchcraft with substantial power, but he wondered just how intense the described sharp drop in temperature was.

Could it freeze seawater instantly, for example?

After pondering, Rein put it away and slowly opened the second Sorcery Scroll.

The pattern was similarly intricate, but this time the energy fluctuations emanating from the scroll were completely different from the previous one.

And the Spirit script beside it read ‘Summon Hurricane’.

Witchcraft ‘Summon Hurricane’ effect: Instantly summons a powerful hurricane, attacking a fan-shaped area directly in front of the caster.

For such a vague description,

Rein could only express deep aversion!

Powerful energy?

Just how powerful?

Would this hurricane inflict slicing wounds on the enemies, merely blow them away, or even toss a cow into the sky?

Rein was perplexed!

Unfortunately, as there was only one copy of each Sorcery Scroll, it meant that Rein could not test the actual effects of the scrolls in advance.

Additionally, Rein was quite puzzled as to why Adams, who majored in negative energy, would possess these two scrolls that were clearly of the ice and wind series.

Could it be that he stole them years ago from his mentor Sorin?

Or were they spoils from some secret mission?

After a brief contemplation, Rein slightly shook his head—these had nothing to do with him.

After stowing the two Sorcery Scrolls, he took out the book recording the witchcraft ‘High-Temperature Field’ and began reading it meticulously.

Half an hour later, Rein crossed his arms and began to pace back and forth in the storeroom.

Since the first witchcraft Rein mastered, ‘Scorching Touch,’ was also a fire-type witchcraft, he naturally compared the ‘High-Temperature Field’ with ‘Scorching Touch.’

Clearly, the difficulty had escalated dramatically!

The visualization difficulty of the ‘Scorching Touch’ model was like learning the word ‘big’ after learning the English alphabet (Will runes), but the visualization difficulty of the ‘High-Temperature Field’ was completely different, like learning ‘congratulation’ right after the alphabet.

So, although Rein’s spiritual power had increased to 20 points and he was much quicker, he sensed and channeled the surrounding fire energy particles, but to fully visualize the ‘High-Temperature Field’ witchcraft model synchronously was extremely difficult.

After thinking, Rein decided to give it a try.

After all, he had an advantage: succeeding once meant that it would be etched on the panel, allowing for steady future improvement without fear of forgetting, backsliding, or mistakes like a normal Wizard Apprentice might face.

After failing more than ten times, finally, Rein succeeded once!

Within a few meters around Rein, the air and the air in distant areas seemed to exhibit a slight refraction phenomenon, though it was hardly noticeable without close inspection.

But as per elementary physics on light refraction and reflection, this shouldn’t happen in the same medium.

Because in the same medium, the transmission rate is fixed.

But at this moment, it did occur.

Clearly, this indicated that the temperature of the air around Rein was higher than other places, causing the air density and humidity to change due to temperature differences, resulting in a variance in transmission rate.

An optical illusion like a mirage operates on this principle.

Besides, Rein also discovered that the temperature in the force field rose extremely fast, akin to the effect of a combination of a microwave and an air fryer.

The air could be heated to a designated temperature in just a few seconds.

Thus, to measure the power of the ‘High-Temperature Field,’ Rein had already placed three basins of water on the table at approximately one meter, two meters, and three meters away from him.

Ten seconds later, Rein voluntarily stopped the witchcraft ‘High-Temperature Field.’

To his disappointment, none of the three basins of water boiled.

This indicated that the temperature of the ‘High-Temperature Field’ witchcraft was far less than that of ‘Scorching Touch.’

After all, with the power of ‘Scorching Touch,’ the water would not only have boiled by now but would have evaporated away.

After stopping, Rein went forward to feel the temperature of the water in the basins.

Indeed, the basin three meters away seemed perfect for a foot soak, approximately forty to fifty degrees.

But the basin two meters away was about seventy to eighty degrees, quite scalding, yet the temperature of the basin one meter away was almost the same as the three-meter one.

This surprised Rein quite a bit.

He had assumed that the basin one meter away would be the hottest.

It appears that the maximum lethal radius of the ‘High-Temperature Field’ is around two meters; any further or closer, and the power decreases.

At that moment, the system notification also followed:

[You have studied the High-Temperature Field, understanding enhanced!]

[You have comprehended a new Skill—High-Temperature Field]

[Your skill High-Temperature Field improved, Experience +1]

Meanwhile, under the Wizard Apprentice (Transcendent) panel below the Scorching Touch icon, a brand-new icon appeared.

The icon’s border lit up slightly, and the pattern on the icon was a blurred figure wearing a hood, surrounded by a transparent, oval eggshell-like thin membrane.

Rein focused on the new icon, noticing a line of small text below it.

High-Temperature Field lv1 (1/100)

High-Temperature Field lv1 effect: Consumes a certain amount of spiritual power to invoke surrounding fire energy particles with a specific witchcraft model, generating high-temperature air within a certain range around the host, lasting approximately one minute.
