Chapter 205 – 149 What… What kind of monster are you! (Two in one big chapter)

Hamilton walked over to Rein, speaking with a grave expression:

“Adams Nolan, the Shadow Stinger, top-level assassin, third-level wizard apprentice, known as ‘Ghost Manipulator,’ ‘Bewitcher,’ a wanted felon of the Empire.”

“His main charge is the murder of Meist County City Guard Lieutenant Colonel, the Peak Knight Baron Fares Cardis, and he is also a suspect in the murder of the wealthy merchant Jabi Bogado and the town mayor Saskia Laza, as well as several other homicide cases….”

“Any citizen of the Empire who sees Adams should immediately report to the nearest Imperial authority and will receive a reward of 50 Imperial Gold Coins, and those who manage to kill him will be rewarded with 1000 Imperial Gold Coins.”

Rein knew that Hamilton was not only informing him about the other’s information but also trying to intimidate the enemy.

At this moment, the elite Night Watchmen following behind Hamilton lit up the alley with torches and oil lamps, spreading out to surround it layer by layer.

“Eh! Who are you? The town sheriff or the mayor? To think you know me.”

Adams found that tonight’s Flashgold Town had given him a bit more surprise than expected.

He had not anticipated that someone in a small town would be so familiar with the contents of the Empire’s Bounty Order against him; it was as if they knew it better than he did himself.

And to recognize him at first sight was even more remarkable.

Now, with sword and shield in hand, Hamilton had already come to Rein’s side. He glanced at the large hole in Rein’s Knight’s plate armor on his chest, his pupils contracted, then turned his gaze to the cloaked old man across from him, named Adams, and said:

“Fares Cardis was one of my best friends!”

“Oh? So today you intend to avenge your friend?” Adams’s tone was very calm, as if not at all concerned that he was currently being trapped in the alley by over a dozen Night Watchmen with bows at the ready.

“Rein, tonight will be a tough fight but… as long as we can disrupt his use of witchcraft and hold out until reinforcements arrive, we can win!” Hamilton whispered to Rein.

Rein’s eyebrows raised slightly, and he nodded faintly.

Hamilton’s remark revealed quite a bit.

First of all, it showed that Hamilton himself didn’t have the confidence to defeat or kill this third-level wizard apprentice named Adams head-on.

It was, in fact, the first time Rein had heard Hamilton speak like this.

Secondly, had Hamilton just said to disrupt the other’s witchcraft? That suggested their tactics would primarily be to harass and delay the enemy.

“Oh? Delay? What an interesting idea,” Adams said, glancing at Hamilton with a hint of mockery.

Clearly, Hamilton hadn’t expected the other’s perception to be so sharp that he’d caught every word he’d just said!

“You take the left, I’ll take the right!”

“Fire the arrows!!” Hamilton immediately commanded with a stern face.

Following that, he charged towards Adams from the right with his sword and shield.

Rein followed closely, attacking from the left with his Two-Handed Warhammer.

The dense barrage of arrows from the elite Night Watchmen was unleashed like a torrential downpour toward Adams in the alley before the two sheriffs could reach him.

But before the arrows could strike Adams, a large swathe of eerie black fog burst forth around him. The fog spread rapidly towards both ends of the alley.

The arrows pierced through the black fog with a ‘ding ding dang dang’ and stuck into the ground, failing to hit Adams, who had already vanished into the mist.

When Hamilton and Rein charged into the fog, they seemed to instantly lose sight of their target.

However, Rein, with his core skill ‘Dark Vision,’ quickly adapted to the view within the dark fog, making out the slightly hunched, faint outline in the eerie mist.

But Rein soon sensed something was off with this black fog!

It seemed not just to conceal one’s form but also to possess other strange abilities.

The fog whirled rapidly around their bodies like serpents, making them feel a negative energy constantly invading their bodies, quickly bringing a sense of fatigue.

After only a few seconds, Rein felt his limbs weaken, and his movements swinging the Two-Handed Warhammer became increasingly clumsy.

“Argh!!”

Suddenly, at that moment, cries of pain arose from the Night Watchmen at the rear of the alley.

This made Rein’s eyes narrow!

Attacking their rear were female spirits manipulated by Adams.

Obviously, if they didn’t dispel the black fog, the Night Watchmen would simply become sitting ducks, and as time passed, neither he nor Hamilton would likely endure.

This was far too passive!

Facing such an intangible thing as the black fog, it seemed one could only fight the intangible with the intangible.

Rein swiftly sheathed his Warhammer and drew the Glimmering Greatsword from his back, then charged towards the slightly stooped figure in the black fog. Your journey continues with Novgo

“Eh! To think you could discern my location,” said Adams from within the fog, noticing Rein rushing towards him immediately.

Originally, he had been leisurely waiting for the ‘Evil Fog’ to corrode the bodies of the two knights before finishing them off at his convenience.
