The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 1583: Chapter 1583: Nathalie Sees Through Everything!

Half an hour later.

Rhine.

Nathalie Quinlan had just gotten up, her eyes still clouded with the sleepiness from waking. She had been woken up by Audrick Zachmann’s call, having not slept well the night before. Being awakened in the morning left a nerve in her brain taut, causing a throbbing pain at the back of her head.

”Hello.” After getting up, Nathalie pulled out the chair next to her desk and sat down. Because it was Audrick calling, her attitude wasn’t bad; at least she didn’t take her sleepiness out on him.

”Nathalie...” Audrick sounded hesitant on the phone.

Nathalie, however, was quite patient, resting her arm as she sat there, her peripheral vision spotting the water on the table.

She wedged the phone between her ear and shoulder, reached for the water, twisted the cap off, and tipped her head back to gulp down a big mouthful, finally soothing her dry throat: ”What’s up?”

The girl’s voice sounded much clearer, at least with none of the previous hoarse roughness.

Upon hearing her voice, Audrick was filled with mixed emotions, taking a long breath before asking, ”I heard that you kidnapped Evelyn Quarles, is that true?”

Nathalie was fiddling with the bottle cap, hearing that, her gaze turned cold. Instead of answering his question, she countered, ”Who told you that?”

Audrick grew even more worried: ”Don’t worry about who told me, just tell me if it’s true.”

Nathalie said nothing.

Audrick was frantic in the hospital, trying once again to get up from the bed but failing, collapsing back onto the bed. He was a bit resentful of his own impotence, gritting his teeth as he spoke urgently to Nathalie: ”Nathalie, listen to me, don’t provoke the Quarles family. The Quarles family is dangerous, and Ellen Quarles is not easy to deal with. Regardless of whether my matter with the Quarles family is related or not, don’t act impulsively, wait until I recover. I’ll handle it. Listen, Nathalie.”

Nathalie sensed the urgency and worry in his tone, her heart warmed slightly, and the hostility all around her subsided considerably. She still didn’t directly agree with Audrick, her slender, fair fingers tapping lightly on the desk, a little irritably: ”Was it Caryn Zachmann who told you?”

Audrick seemed to be startled, suddenly hemming and hawing: ”She...”

He realized he was being led by Nathalie, growing anxious: ”Nathalie, who told me isn’t the point, I’m worried about you alone...”

”What did Caryn Zachmann say to you?” Nathalie was quite persistent about this question, casually asking, ”Didn’t I arrange for someone to stand guard under the inpatient department, not allowing anyone to visit these days?”

Audrick was momentarily at a loss about why he had called, unable to respond for a long time, feeling utterly subdued by Nathalie.

Nathalie quickly figured out how Caryn Zachmann managed to get in touch with Audrick, the corners of her mouth curving into a smile that didn’t reach her eyes, her brows and eyes filled with irritation. She tossed the bottle cap onto the desk, leaning back with an exuberantly lazy posture, her voice lowered as she said: ”Let me guess, she called you. How did she explain it over the phone? That I had gotten involved with the Quarles family, and if I didn’t get on my knees and beg for forgiveness, the Quarles family would deal with me, advising you to convince me to back off early, lest the Quarles family deals with me?”

Audrick: ”...”

Nathalie paused for a second, knowing from his silence that her guess was likely correct, grinning again, her expression wild, excessively arrogant: ”I’ll guess again, she also told you that they said I wouldn’t listen to them, but if you told me, I might listen. Am I right?”
