Extraordinary in Reality Through Magic Games

484: Chapter 464 Expanding the Magic LegionZhang Mu notified Domit that the space gate would open at eight o’clock the next morning, though he didn’t rule out the possibility of it being early or delayed.

Domit was worried about it being too early. After the drawing of lots, he urged everyone to go all out, completing all military duties in three hours. Then, he sat in the Command Post and waited calmly.

In the end, the gate opened right on time.

On the wristwatch Zhang Mu had gifted Domit, the hour hand pointed to the number ”eight,” and a light gate expanded out of thin air in the middle of the underground Command Post.

”Everyone.” Domit stood up and walked to the gate, organizing the crowd into a long line. He warned, ”The Marshal has a relaxed personality, but remember not to be lax because of it.

Furthermore, there are many secrets hidden within ’The World,’ some of which even I don’t fully understand. So, don’t ask what shouldn’t be asked, and don’t look at what shouldn’t be seen. Understood?”

”Understood!” Everyone, who had held the position of Legion Commander for many days, experienced a taste of boot camp life again and responded loudly.

Domit turned around and stared at the light gate before him. He had known about the existence of ”The World” for a long time, but this was his first time entering. He couldn’t help but feel a bit of anticipation, and his heart rate quickened slightly.

Taking a deep breath to calm his excitement, he stepped forward: ”Move out!”

The team followed suit, their figures passing through the light gate one by one.

Their vision went dark for a moment, as was natural. When it returned, they were standing on a wide stone-paved road. To the left of the road, groups of tanks were parked neatly; to the right were buildings of a consistent architectural style, with Soldiers in army uniforms going in and out of the stairwells.

Looking ahead along the stone road, at the end was a vast plaza.

Keeping Domit’s warning in mind, the Legion Commanders stared straight ahead, only daring to use their peripheral vision to observe the First Army Soldiers, tanks, and armored vehicles.

Lake had an Armored Corps, and the Legion Commanders had seen them and even experienced being in the cockpits, so they were familiar with tanks. However, the tanks on the left were clearly different from the ones they had encountered.

On the surface of those tanks’ armor, strange patterns were drawn with lines, something the tanks of the Armored Corps did not possess.

It felt as if a cat’s claw was lightly scratching at their hearts, but due to the regulations, they didn’t dare to speak up and ask.

Domit looked around. When he saw a man in an officer’s uniform walking toward him, he went up to meet him with a look of pleasant surprise.

”Zomali!”

”Hahaha—” He approached and raised his hand in a solemn military salute. ”General Legion Commander Domit!”

Domit returned the salute solemnly, then smiled again. ”How have you been lately?”

”The First Army has been on standby, just doing daily training. What about you?”

”The war never stops, but fortunately, the pressure isn’t too great.”

”Hahaha, that’s great.” Zomali looked up at the Legion Commanders behind him and asked curiously, ”What are you all here for?”

”Eh? Didn’t the Marshal tell you?”

”Oh, you’re here to observe the military exercise?”

”And the test flight of the magic combat aircraft.”

”Speaking of magic combat aircraft.” Zomali became excited, gesturing wildly with his hands. ”The finished product left the factory yesterday. I went to see it. It’s very... very heroic!”

”Is that so?”

”Of course, there won’t be anything in the Saul Continent more...” Halfway through, Zomali suddenly paused. After a moment, he said, ”The Marshal has already arrived. Come.”

He turned and walked toward the tallest building in the cluster. Domit followed while waving to those behind him, and the Legion Commanders hurried to catch up.

The group lined up, crossed the road between the buildings, entered the open main doors of the building, and went up the stairs to the top floor.

There was only one door in the corridor on the top floor. Zomali led them to the door and raised his hand to knock.

”Marshal, Lord Domit has arrived.”

”Enter.”

Zomali pushed the door open and leaned his head toward the room. ”The exercise starts this evening. I have to go prepare. Go in yourself.”

Domit nodded to show he understood, straightened his collar which wasn’t even messy, and stepped through the door with a steady pace. The Legion Commanders followed behind like obedient children.

The room was Zhang Mu’s private office. The furnishings were simple; aside from the desk, there were only a few vases in the corners for decoration.

Domit entered the room and immediately saw the Marshal sitting behind the desk and... Elves standing to the left and right of the Marshal?

Domit knew about Elves, but not much; he only knew they lived in seclusion deep within the Forest of Spirits. The Forest of Spirits was more than ten thousand miles away from Lake. How could the Marshal know three Elves?

And... their relationship seemed overly close.

Domit noticed some details, and his eyes showed surprise, which he quickly concealed. He walked to the desk with apparent composure and saluted: ”Marshal, good day!”

The Legion Commanders followed suit: ”Marshal, good day!”

”Put your hands down. We’re all on the same side, no need for formalities.” Zhang Mu looked over the Legion Commanders, whose faces were tense from nervousness. ”Speaking of which, this should be our first time meeting, right?

Haha, I’m a bit of an incompetent Marshal. It’s been over two years, and I haven’t even received my direct subordinates.”

The joking tone eased the atmosphere considerably, and the stiff muscles of the Legion Commanders relaxed. The Sixth Legion Commander, standing at the front of the line, puffed out his chest and replied: ”The Marshal is busy with affairs, we...”

”Enough, enough. I said no need for formalities.

Come, sit... This idiot, forgot to put out some chairs.” Zhang Mu looked around; the room was empty, not a single chair leg in sight. He laughed awkwardly.

Domit waved his hands repeatedly: ”Marshal, we can just stand.”

Zhang Mu felt this was a bit uncomfortable. After considering for a moment, he said, ”You haven’t had breakfast yet, have you? Let’s go to the cafeteria and talk while we eat.

Furei, want to try the First Army’s specialty: soy milk and deep-fried dough sticks?”

”Mm.” Perhaps because outsiders were present, Frederica became quiet and nodded in response.

Zhang Mu stood up and led everyone all the way to the cafeteria.

The First Army’s breakfast time had already passed, and the cafeteria seats were all empty. Everyone randomly found a few adjacent tables and sat down.

Zhang Mu said to a Soldier who had spotted the Marshal and came running over in a hurry, ”Is there any soy milk and dough sticks left?”

”I’ll have the kitchen prepare some immediately.”

”Go ahead. No need to rush, there’s no hurry.”

The Soldier ran toward the kitchen.

Zhang Mu looked at Frederica and the other two sitting beside and across from him. They were slightly constrained in front of outsiders, but they didn’t show any fear, curiously scanning the cafeteria decorated in the Blue Star style.

Seeing this, Zhang Mu thought to let them get familiar with the environment first. He turned his head and asked Domit, who was sitting at the next table, ”How are things over in Kingdom?”

”Reporting to the Marshal, currently Kingdom is acting very with much restraint. High-tier Professionals and Saint-levels have never appeared on the front lines.”

”The ones you’re fighting are all ordinary human legions?”

”There are also low-tier Professionals.”

”Hoh, what the hell. What is Kingdom up to? Don’t they know that the longer this drags on, the more favorable the situation is for us?”

”Previously, I guessed Brando was waiting for an attack on Lake’s eastern border so we would proactively withdraw our troops. But after the Ninth and Tenth Legions completely wiped out the enemy forces attacking the eastern border, Kingdom still maintains the status quo. Hmm... it is indeed very strange.”

Zhang Mu raised an eyebrow: ”Completely wiped out? Didn’t you say they gathered a First-Tier Legion with over a hundred thousand troops?”

”Yes.”

”Meaning our two legions wiped out the enemy while at a massive numerical disadvantage?”

Domit nodded: ”The Special Operations Squad also deserves credit.”

”Ninth Legion, Tenth Legion...” Zhang Mu thought for a moment. ”Has the background check for the Legion Commanders been audited?”

”All the Legion Commanders of Lake’s First-Tier Legions have perfectly passed the identity audit.”

Zhang Mu smiled: ”That’s good then.

magic-conducting weapons iterate too quickly, and the obsolete ones have piled up. However, they’re still stronger than the original firearms. I’m thinking of using this inventory to expand the magic-conducting weapon legions. What do you think?”

Domit looked delighted: ”I think it’s feasible. Original firearms are too struggling against High-tier Professionals. If we had a few standing magic-conducting legions, the war would be much easier to conduct.”

The discussion between the two was not hidden from the others, their voices at a normal volume. The Sixth Legion Commander sat upright in his seat, listening intently.

Domit had told him that Zhang Mu had a relaxed personality. The Sixth Legion Commander initially thought it was relative to the majesty of a ”Marshal,” but after observing, he was surprised to find that his Marshal was actually as kind as an old Farmer in the countryside.

Thinking caused his attention to wander slightly, but it was instantly pulled back by the topic of the two.

magic-conducting weapons? Magic-conducting legions?

The First Army is a magic-conducting legion, right?

Does the Marshal mean he wants to select a few of Lake’s First-Tier Legions to be equipped with magic-conducting weapons?

He didn’t know exactly what magic-conducting weapons were, but that didn’t hinder his desire for them at all. These were the weapons used by the First Army.

Zhang Mu caught a glimpse of his expression and chimed in cheerfully: ”What are you thinking about?”

The startled Sixth Legion Commander was dazed for a moment. Realizing he was being questioned, he stood up abruptly, his posture straight: ”Reporting to the Marshal, I was wondering if the Sixth legion has a chance to be equipped with magic-conducting weapons!”

Zhang Mu burst out laughing: ”Quite honest. Sit down.”

After the Sixth Legion Commander sat back on the bench in embarrassment, Zhang Mu clapped his hands to draw everyone’s attention: ”The reason I had you come here, Domit should have told you.

Besides that, it’s what I just said. I intend to equip a few magic-conducting legions.”

Looking at the faces of the crowd flushed with excitement, Zhang Mu pressed his right hand down in front of him: ”No need to rush. All First-Tier Legions will eventually switch to magic-conducting weapons, but due to production capacity limits, there has to be an order.”

magic-conducting weapons were one of Zhang Mu’s trump cards. The high-end series and the cutting-edge first generation definitely couldn’t be leaked and could only be used within a limited scope. There were no such concerns for the already outdated ones.

Zhang Mu planned to look for suitable cities in Lake soon to build several factories for producing magic-conducting weapons, ensuring that all of Lake’s First-Tier Legions could be equipped with them.

Estimating the inventory, Zhang Mu said, ”The magic-conducting weapons in the warehouse are temporarily only enough to supply two legions. As for which two get priority, Domit can decide after you return.”

Domit’s head throbbed a bit.

All nine First-Tier Legions had illustrious military records. No matter who was chosen, the other legions would have the grounds to protest.

From Domit’s standpoint, it was also difficult to choose. All the Legion Commanders fought bravely; it was truly hard to distinguish between them.

Zhang Mu knew this was a dilemma, otherwise he wouldn’t have dumped it on Domit. Seeing Domit’s troubled face now, he naturally pretended not to know and enjoyed the soy milk and dough sticks served by the Soldier.

”Furei, fresh out of the pot, eat while it’s hot.” Having played a trick on Domit, Zhang Mu was very happy as he pushed the plate of soy milk and dough sticks in front of Frederica.
