Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

Chapter 840: Chapter 840: The Arrogant Peerless Master

”I, Shen Moce, have lived for nearly a hundred years, only to realize today that there are always people better than oneself and skies beyond one’s own. I audaciously uttered arrogant words previously and was disrespectful to Master Mu; I am truly ashamed beyond measure.” Shen Moce was a man of pride yet humility, and as he recalled his earlier disregard for the two hand formations of Mu Hanyan, his old face flushed as if burned, bowing to Mu Hanyan in gratitude.

”Master Shen, there’s no need for such words. I was merely lucky. Master Shen is erudite and skilled, truly far above Han Yan.” Mu Hanyan was not one to hold grudges. Seeing Shen Moce voluntarily apologizing, she naturally wouldn’t make him feel uncomfortable.

Moreover, she was speaking from the heart; she still did not know what happened earlier. She could only ascertain that the Star Plate before her was not some Star Mechanism Plate at all, but a part of the Mysterious Star Plate in her heart. Hence, her ability to activate this Star Plate had little to do with the so-called Star Divination Techniques of others.

As for Shen Moce’s Star Divination Skill, she truly admired it from the heart. Merging dozens of different schools of hand formations into one, comprehending without any pause — well, Mu Hanyan did not have such capability.

Seeing Mu Hanyan being so magnanimous, leaving him some dignity, Shen Moce felt even more ashamed.

”Hehe, Master Shen, Master Pu, Master Weng, about the matter I previously asked you all to help with...” Ji Gaoxian asked with a broad smile, seizing the opportunity.

Seeing Shen Moce’s face flushed with embarrassment, Ji Gaoxian felt unspeakably delighted inside: ”I said so many good things before, yet you wouldn’t help, and dared to disregard Young Master Mu’s hand formation. Embarrassing now, isn’t it?”

”Master Ji, you care so much about Nanyan Commerce; it’s not in vain that the Young Master taught you the hand formation.” Huayue, seeing Ji Gaoxian so pleased by Mu Hanyan’s victory, felt somewhat moved and couldn’t help but speak.

”Actually, it’s not entirely for Nanyan Commerce. A few days ago, I lost to Young Master Mu, felt ashamed, and didn’t dare to go out. But after today, such a minor matter need not be worried about.” Ji Gaoxian said gleefully.

Huayue and others were momentarily stunned, though they quickly realized: as a renowned Star Divination Master in the Capital, having his reputation tarnished by Mu Hanyan, a young man under twenty, was naturally embarrassing. But now, with Shen Moce’s reputation overshadowing even Ji Gaoxian’s, even he was defeated, and the matter with Ji Gaoxian wouldn’t be regarded as shameful anymore.

Previously, others considered him as Shen Moce’s junior, but after today, they would mention them in the same breath. It might even bring him some face.

Turns out this old fellow is happy to finally find a scapegoat. Huayue and the others all had an awkward realization: seems like there’s no decent person beside the Young Master.

”Having lost to Young Master Mu, I will, of course, keep my promise. From now on, matters of the Nanyan Commerce are my matters too.” Shen Moce said without hesitation.

”With Young Master Mu overseeing the Nanyan Commerce, its grand future is just a matter of time. I am honored to serve Nanyan Commerce.” Weng Yixiao said, fanning a large palm fan with a smile.

”Since both Master Shen and Master Weng have said this, I, Pu Tiandi, have no objections.” Pu Tiandi followed up.

”Then I must thank all of you for your assistance. I, Mu Hanyan, am tremendously grateful.” Mu Hanyan was in high spirits. With the joining of these three masters, she believed it wouldn’t be long before the Nanyan Commerce would be famous in the Capital.

By that time, even if given several more doses of courage, people like Mo Yanhong wouldn’t dare to have any designs on the Nanyan Commerce.

After all, the names of these few were too well-known, and even one of the Eight Great Families of the Capital wouldn’t dare to anger four Star Divination Masters at once.

”By the way, I will teach you that Star Illusion Thousand Mechanism Technique now. This hand formation was created by an unparalleled master and accidentally came into my possession, but I, with my limited talent, find it difficult to comprehend its mysteries. Teaching it to you now could be considered fulfilling the master’s wish, hoping you will develop it and benefit the people.” Mu Hanyan politely said, mainly praising the Star Illusion Thousand Mechanism Technique.

”Well said, well said.” Sure enough, as soon as the words fell, a proud voice of that unparalleled master echoed in her mind.

”Then... Then it would be rude to refuse.” Seeing Shen Moce’s miserable defeat at Mu Hanyan’s hands, Pu Tiandi and Weng Yixiao were initially hesitant to bring it up again, yet Mu Hanyan had not forgotten, faithfully keeping her previous promise, surprising them with joy.

”Young Master Mu’s magnanimity makes us feel ashamed.” Shen Moce looked at Mu Hanyan with admiration and expressed his feelings.

The Star Divination Masters have long kept their skills to themselves; this tradition has lasted for tens of thousands of years. Mu Hanyan, however, could set aside such biases and openly share this strange technique, making them feel deeply ashamed.

Mu Hanyan was a woman of action. She immediately taught the hand formations to them, but compared to last time, she performed them much faster, without deliberately demonstrating the various changes within, far less detailed than when she taught Ji Gaoxian.

After all, Ji Gaoxian was the first to join the Nanyan Commerce. Although he couldn’t persuade Shen Moce and the others, he still contributed a lot, even leading to an unhappy ending, so Mu Hanyan had to give him some benefits; it couldn’t be the same for everyone.

Ji Gaoxian understood Mu Hanyan’s intention and was so pleased his mouth couldn’t close from smiling.

He was indeed a master, but in terms of strength and fame, he was much inferior to Shen Moce and the others. However, with this hand formation, plus Mu Hanyan’s extra guidance, surpassing them in the future to become the Capital’s number one Divine Fortune Teller would not be difficult.

No, it should be the second Divine Fortune Teller; the title of the first Divine Fortune Teller should fall on Mu Hanyan, as only he truly deserves this title.

With the current fame and status of Shen Moce and the others, their talent and comprehension were naturally not lacking, so they quickly memorized the hand formations from Mu Hanyan. As for understanding them, that was a matter for the future.

”Masters, I will keep this Star Mechanism Plate.” After they memorized the formations, Mu Hanyan picked up the Star Mechanism Plate and said.

”According to my master’s wish, this Star Mechanism Plate was meant to be given to Young Master Mu, so please take it.” Although slightly reluctant, Shen Moce spoke decisively.

Pu Tiandi nodded but his gaze still held some reluctance.

”Master Shen, don’t feel too reluctant; don’t you realize we’ve spent too much time on this Star Mechanism Plate? Over these years, our cultivation has stagnated, and there’s been little progress in Star Divination Skill, all tied to our obsession with this Star Mechanism Plate.

This Star Mechanism Plate has almost become our inner demon. Without removing this demon, this lifetime may just be wasted away, and if we were to awaken upon death, who knows how many regrets we’d leave behind.” Weng Yixiao was indifferent, saying to Shen Moce.
