Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

Chapter 496: 496, marry her or no one else

”The elixir is already yours, and how you use it is your own affair. Although I still cannot stand the sight of Mu Hanyan, being from the same Heishi City, I don’t wish to see him inexplicably die in Exotic Beast Valley,” declared Fourth Miss Zhao before drifting away.

Mu Cheng stood stunned for a moment before realizing that the elixir was intended not just for him but also for Mu Hanyan. It’s just that Fourth Miss Zhao bore deep grudges against Mu Hanyan and was too embarrassed to say it outright.

Understanding her intentions, Mu Cheng felt even more respect and love for her. Setting aside her stubborn and wilful exterior, such virtuous kindness, such pure-hearted benevolence, where in the world could one find such a perfect woman?

”In this lifetime, I, Mu Cheng, will marry no other but her,” resolved Mu Cheng passionately. Gazing at the diminishing silhouette of Fourth Miss Zhao, he made a silent vow.

But soon after, his brow furrowed again as another thought struck him.

The animosity between Fourth Miss Zhao and Mu Hanyan was unsustainable; they ultimately needed to reconcile. But with both harboring such deep-seated prejudices against each other, persuasion alone would hardly suffice for either to let go of their grievances.

Mu Cheng’s eyes fell upon the elixir in his hands, and then he suddenly slapped his forehead and chuckled. Fourth Miss Zhao giving him this elixir clearly had overtones of extending an olive branch to Mu Hanyan; it was just that as a girl, she was too shy to say it directly. As long as he delivered the elixir to Mu Hanyan, she would understand Fourth Miss Zhao’s goodwill.

However, members of the Mu family were somewhat stubborn, and Mu Hanyan’s misunderstandings about Fourth Miss Zhao ran deep. Even if presented with the Spirit Pill, he might not appreciate it and could even suspect her intentions. He would have to experience the benefits of the Spirit Pill first.

With a plan in mind, the crease in Mu Cheng’s brow smoothed out. He became more delighted and eager as he thought about it, and he hurried back to their camp.

”You’re done so quickly?” Wu Qiuyun exclaimed in surprise upon seeing Mu Cheng.

”What?” Mu Cheng looked at Wu Qiuyun, bewildered. It was just a short conversation; did it require that much time?

”Ah, to be so young and already like this, what will you do when you get married? Take my advice, replenish your kidney energy,” Wu Qiuyun said, feigning the sagely concern of an old hand.

”Pfft!” Mu Cheng had just taken a large gulp of water, which he then sprayed all over Wu Qiuyun. Family members matured late in some ways, like flowers in a greenhouse, but were precocious in others; how could he fail to grasp what Wu Qiuyun was getting at?

”Hey, hey, hey, even if I hit a sore spot, there’s no need to lose your temper like that,” Wu Qiuyun protested, shaking the water off his body. ”I’ll go change my clothes, you keep watch here.”

”Get lost!” Mu Cheng said irritably, ”You’re the one with kidney deficiency!”

Taking advantage of Wu Qiuyun’s departure, Mu Cheng quietly opened the kettle on the fire and placed several elixirs inside.

The Bone Marrow Transformation Pill, just from its name, one could tell it was no ordinary elixir. Mu Cheng believed that Brother Han Yan would soon appreciate Fourth Miss Zhao Shang’s kindness and thus would cast aside his previous enmity.

At this moment, Mu Cheng was completely moved by Fourth Miss Zhao, with not the slightest trace of doubt.

...

Meanwhile, Mu Hanyan was utterly unaware of everything happening outside. In his Qi Sea, nearly all his Qi had been exhausted, and his vitality began to ebb away slowly, his consciousness blurring.

A cool breeze of the night brought a moment of clarity to Mu Hanyan.

”Could it be that Mu Cheng and the others have noticed something is wrong and have come in?” Mu Hanyan thought hopefully, looking towards the direction of the door curtain.

Unfortunately, the curtain was still properly drawn, and no one had entered. It must have been an illusion, Mu Hanyan thought ruefully. Damn it, is this the end for me today? I refuse to accept this! Mu Hanyan wanted to defiantly give the heavens the middle finger, if she were able to at that moment.

”Eh, what’s wrong with you?” A familiar voice suddenly rang in Mu Hanyan’s ear.

Then, Mu Hanyan saw Ye Yanran’s ghost-like figure appear before her.
