Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

Mu Hanyan had no idea that Fourth Miss Zhao had already harbored a murderous intent towards him, far beyond the minor skirmishes of the past, as he, accompanied by Mu Cheng and Wu Qiuyun, moved towards the distance.

”Brother Han Yan, what should we do now?” Mu Cheng asked with concern as he looked around the vacant valley.

He had thought that after regrouping with the others, they would be able to jointly defend against the Exotic Beasts, thereby increasing their chances of self-preservation. He hadn’t expected to encounter such an incident, but he didn’t regret refusing Qu Fengting’s threat at all. In fact, spitting in his face felt immensely satisfying.

Huh? It seemed that ever since he chose to follow Mu Hanyan, he had always found himself feeling quite gratified. Mu Cheng suddenly realized this.

”Let’s find a place to set up camp, over there looks good,” Mu Hanyan said, pointing to a protruding rock wall in the distance.

With just the three of them, it was of course impossible to build a fortress like Qu Fengting and the others. Mu Hanyan had looked earlier and noticed that most of those gathered by Qu Fengting were Seventh-Order Swordsmen and above, with some even approaching Ninth Rank or Tenth Rank—indeed, they were the elite of the elite in this trial. As for the others, maybe they were dead, or maybe they had found a place to hide; in any case, they couldn’t be found now.

Of course, Mu Hanyan didn’t need a fortress. With just three of them, even if they built one, they couldn’t defend it. Moreover, with her strength, if she faced danger and only sought to escape rather than fight, taking Mu Cheng and Wu Qiuyun with her might even be easier than for the likes of Qu Fengting and his group.

What she needed was simply a place that could block the wind and rain and also facilitate an easy escape, and that protruding rock wall was just right.

Mu Cheng and Wu Qiuyun had long since followed her orders without question and immediately started setting up camp.

As night fell, the two finished setting up the camp and lit a bonfire.

The nighttime wind howled through the valley, emitting mournful sounds. Besides that, there was dead silence.

”Brother Han Yan, do you think Zhengying Academy should have received the message and sent someone to rescue us by now?” Mu Cheng speculated.

”We’ve been in the valley for over ten days now. Even if Zhengying Academy is slow to react, they should be taking action by now,” Mu Hanyan nodded in agreement.

Hearing their conversation, Wu Qiuyun furrowed his brow.

Without a trace, Mu Hanyan cast a discreet glance at him and also furrowed her brow in response.

Qu Fengting had another purpose for participating in this trial; it was for the sealed object in that palace. Gathering so many Elite Swordsmen together, he certainly wasn’t harboring good intentions.

Once Zhengying Academy opened the Barrier, he would have no more opportunities to act. If she guessed correctly, he would be taking action soon.

Wu Qiuyun came to Exotic Beast Valley with the same goal in mind and certainly wouldn’t just watch Qu Fengting succeed. In fact, when Wu Qiuyun approached her in the beginning, he had somewhat intended to use her.

And as for her—Mu Han’s death had ultimately been caused by her involvement. There are no secrets that the wind does not reveal, and this matter would come out sooner or later. A confrontation between the Qu family and her, or rather, the Mu family, was inevitable. She also couldn’t allow Qu Fengting to succeed.

They would end up irreconcilably at odds with Qu Fengting, locked in a fight to the death.

Although Qu Fengting was a Tenth Rank Great Swordsman, Mu Hanyan had absolute confidence in her own combat power. However, with the numbers on his side, a real fight might not favor her.

Perhaps life and death hung by a thread. Could she really trust this Wu Qiuyun?

Despite him laying all his cards on the table without concealing anything, that was, after all, the remains of an Ancient Divine Beast. Even if it was just Beast Bones, it could bring immense benefits. Who could resist such temptation? When push came to shove, what choice would Wu Qiuyun make?

Perhaps his heart was already a tangled mess.

Mu Hanyan gripped the hilt of her sword. Although she felt some fondness for Wu Qiuyun, if he dared to betray her, she would not hesitate to kill him. She absolutely could not tolerate any betrayal.
