Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

Chapter 466: 466 both are misshapen dates

The situation had already gone beyond his expectations, and beyond those of the Wu Family elders as well. If they continued to be evasive, it could harm not only Mu Hanyan, but himself as well.

Compared to other family members who consider themselves above everyone else, Wu Qiuyun’s nature was much more composed and sober, fully capable of recognizing the gravity of their situation.

”Ancient Divine Beast!” Mu Hanyan gasped.

It was said that during the ancient era tens of thousands of years ago, the Holy Court Continent was not only populated by numerous strong figures but also by fiercely dangerous birds and beasts, whose strength far surpassed that of today’s Exotic Beasts. There was even a belief that today’s animals were the descendants of those ancient ferocious creatures, whose intelligence and strength had waned due to impure bloodlines.

The so-called Exotic Beasts were the result of an awakening of ancient bloodlines within them, possessing superpowers that were merely a fraction of those of their formidable ancient ancestors. From this, one could imagine just how powerful the legendary ancient beasts were.

Among them, the Ancient Divine Beasts were the most powerful entities at the top of the hierarchy, with the Dragon Clan as one such example.

Mu Hanyan had never expected that the purpose of Qu Fengting and Wu Qiuyun’s journey was related to the Ancient Divine Beasts.

”Several hundred years ago, our Wu Family elders and Qu Family Ancestor also participated in the trials in the Exotic Beast Valley. In a cliff crack, they discovered ancient inscriptions that had long been lost. Overjoyed, they followed the crack further inside and stumbled upon the ruins of an ancient palace exuding terrifying pressure, clearly suppressed by a seal.

At that time, our Wu Family ancestor was a Ninth Rank Swordsman. He was so shaken by that pressure that he lost his mental composure. He had planned to steady his mind and investigate further, but the Qu Family Ancestor who was with him unexpectedly launched a sneak attack, severely injuring him.

With no other choice, our Wu Family ancestor had to give up on treasure hunting and escape. However, he told that the Qu Family man didn’t benefit either. Right after he injured our ancestor and entered the palace, he triggered the palace’s guardianship seal. Immediately, the earth quaked, and a sandstorm rose, leaving him also severely injured as he escaped from the crack.

Due to their serious injuries, both were soon rescued from the Exotic Beast Valley, but they never mentioned the palace’s secrets to anyone else,” Wu Qiuyun said solemnly.

”How did he know it was related to the Ancient Divine Beasts?” Mu Hanyan asked curiously, also secretly criticizing in her mind. No wonder the two Qu family members she encountered were disgraceful and morally corrupt; their roots were rotten.

”As a youth, he once traveled to the Capital, where he was fortunate enough to witness the majesty of the Royal Griffin. According to him, the pressure emanating from the ancient palace was similar to that of the Griffin, but multiplied a hundredfold or even a thousandfold. Now, the Royal Griffin is one of the top Exotic Beasts of our Holy Court Continent, but to feel a pressure hundred or thousand times stronger than it, he couldn’t think of any other possibility than the Ancient Divine Beast,” Wu Qiuyun answered.

Mu Hanyan remembered the Griffin she had auctioned, recalling nothing more than its enormous, fierce appearance which seemed quite fearsome, yet she had felt no pressure. But then again, it wasn’t a true Griffin as it had half Quail bloodline, so it was normal that she felt no pressure.

”Because our Wu Family ancestor was attacked and severely injured by someone from the Qu family, he fled early and could not confirm what exactly was sealed within the palace. However, based on his estimation of the seal’s strength, he guessed that the seal would open on its own after hundreds of years. So, for many years now, our Wu Family has been closely monitoring the Qu family’s movements.

This time, when the Qu family sent Qu Fengting to participate in the trials in the Exotic Beast Valley, others were unaware of the reason, but we knew. The Qu family must be aiming for the sealed entity within that palace.” Having reached this point in his explanation, Wu Qiuyun held nothing back, revealing all he knew.
