Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

Duan Tianya sighed heavily, his expression growing even more somber.

”Uncle Master, what are you talking about?” Zhao Sinin asked, barely containing his anxious curiosity.

”This barrier was accidentally discovered by our predecessors at Zhengying Academy nearly ten thousand years ago. They speculated that it was formed when countless experts from the Ancient Era fought to the death, and their cultivation didn’t immediately disperse into Heaven and Earth Qi. This was due to the right time, location, and some other opportunities.

Legend has it that when this barrier was discovered, an ancestor of the academy once felt the oppression of an Ancient Divine Beast, although it wasn’t very strong. It was likely the remains of an Ancient Divine Beast that had perished in battle. Even if it was just the remains, it could greatly benefit the top swordsmen of Holy Court Continent in grasping the Secret Techniques of Heaven and Earth and breaking through their limits. Naturally, the predecessors made every effort to search.

However, despite their efforts, they found nothing. The oppressive aura suddenly disappeared and couldn’t be felt anymore. Even those ancestors began to doubt if their perception had been mistaken, and so they gave up the search. Since the Qi of Heaven and Earth in this valley was not very strong and the strength of the Exotic Beasts was neither high nor low, it was just suitable for swordsmen to practice and train, so it was turned into a trial ground.

Over time, the legend became just a story, and the so-called Ancient Divine Beast became a topic of casual conversation among the instructors.

It has been speculated that there could indeed have been remains of an Ancient Divine Beast in Exotic Beast Valley, but just as the predecessors opened the barrier, the lingering divine essence of the beast dispersed into Heaven and Earth Qi. There is also a possibility that the remains were actually sealed, and the opening of the barrier momentarily disturbed the seal, letting the essence leak temporarily before the seal quickly stabilized and concealed it again.

Of course, this is just a guess, no one took it seriously, nor did anyone really care. But with such an anomaly happening with the barrier, maybe the rumors are true and that person actually guessed correctly,” Pang Dezong explained patiently.

”Uncle Master means to say that they accidentally unsealed it and found the remains of the Divine Beast, and because the essence of that Beast was concentrated and not dispersed, the barrier was sealed?” Zhao Sinin, who had also studied alchemy although he had not made much progress, guessed based on his knowledge.

”It’s not necessarily that they opened the seal. Whether it’s a seal or a barrier, both require continuous support from someone. This barrier has been continuously supported by our lineage of alchemists, so it can naturally be maintained. But a seal with no one to maintain it would gradually open on its own,” Pang Dezong corrected.

”Then I’m reassured. If that’s the case, sealing the barrier poses no risk, and it might even be a great opportunity,” Zhao Sinin finally felt a stone lifted from his heart, saying relaxedly.

”If only it were as you imagine,” Pang Dezong smiled bitterly, shaking his head, ”You don’t know, not all Ancient Divine Beasts are benign; many are evil and ferocious.

According to records, during the Ancient Era, countless human experts died at the hands of these ferocious Divine Beasts. If the legend is true, and they indeed found the remains of that Ancient Divine Beast, whether anyone could survive is another question.”

Zhao Sinin’s face turned deathly pale. In his heart, a mournful cry arose, ”What about his goddess?”

Beside him, Duan Tianya and the others also looked rather somber.

If it were just a simple issue with the barrier, the swordsmen in Exotic Beast Valley would not be in immediate danger of losing their lives, and a way to rescue them would eventually be found. But if it were as Pang Dezong described, the trouble would be much greater.

Those were the offspring of thousands of families; if all died in Exotic Beast Valley, how could they possibly explain themselves?
