Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

”Second brother, why don’t we follow Brother Mu? He is a Great Swordsman, and with him, wouldn’t we be much safer?” Yang Boxin asked, both dissatisfied and perplexed.

”What does being a Great Swordsman have to do with it? The Exotic Beast Valley has undergone sudden changes, can a single Great Swordsman really keep us safe?” Yang Boqiao said.

”If a Great Swordsman can’t keep us safe, do you think you can?” Yang Boxin retorted, unconvinced.

”I heard just now that the Young Master is gathering family members from all around. Given the Young Master’s status, strength, and reputation, I believe it won’t be long before everyone rallies to his side. When hundreds or thousands of elite members from various families come together, isn’t that much stronger than a single Great Swordsman? We’ll head over there in a bit, and naturally, we’ll be safe,” Yang Boqiao explained confidently.

”Young Master, are you talking about Qu Fengting from the Qu family?” Yang Boxin asked in surprise.

”That’s right. Our Yang Family has been allied with the Qu family for years, we are practically old friends. I trust that the Young Master would not abandon us to our fate. However, as far as I know, he is extremely dissatisfied with Mu Hanyan. If he finds out that we’ve been walking with him, he might take a dim view of us. It’s better not to offend him, otherwise, even if we escape danger this time, our family will suffer the consequences later,” Yang Boqiao nodded as he spoke.

”But Young Master Mu has saved my life. Wouldn’t it be ungrateful to abandon him now?” Yang Boxin said, feeling ashamed.

”We haven’t betrayed him, nor have we repaid his kindness with enmity. How can that be considered ungrateful?

Besides, Mu Hanyan has a notorious reputation; even if he has saved your life, you can cultivate effectively and find an opportunity to repay him later. There’s no need to associate with his misdeeds.

Moreover, even if you followed him, what help could you possibly provide? You would just be a burden. By keeping our distance, we’re actually doing him a big favor,” Yang Boqiao advised earnestly.

”Hm, that seems to make sense.” Yang Boxin nodded thoughtfully, but then his brow furrowed. Even though his second brother’s words appeared logical, something still didn’t feel quite right.

”As long as you understand, take the wound medicine and rest for a moment before we set off,” Yang Boqiao said.

”Who knows what kind of Exotic Beasts we’ll encounter ahead, can we make it through?” Yang Boxin momentarily set aside his internal conflict and asked worriedly.

”Each of these Exotic Beasts has its own territory. Since the Earth Splitting Crocodile exists, there likely won’t be any stronger beasts around. We should be fine as long as we’re careful,” Yang Boqiao said.

...

Mu Hanyan walked further and further away, understanding the reason for Yang Boqiao’s deliberate estrangement, with no interest in listening any further.

She bore no grudge against Yang Boqiao. For the sake of one’s life and family interests, there are always too many helplessnesses to count. For most family members, it is a responsibility they must bear.

Only her past self was an exception, not burdened by any responsibilities, and even her whole family suffered because of her. Thinking of this, Mu Hanyan felt even more moved and guilty.

”Brother Wu, isn’t there something you should let us in on?” Mu Hanyan finally spoke up during the rare quiet moment.

”If the elders in my Wu Family have not guessed wrong, it should be related to an Ancient Divine Beast,” Wu Qiuyun replied without much hesitation, speaking frankly.
