Mr. CEO, You Look Strangely Familiar

Chapter 23: Chapter 23: I Will Help You Fulfill Your Wish

His eyes were calm as he raised his voice slightly. ”I already know about this. Get in the car. I need to talk to you.”

She stood frozen. Quentin Grant got out, forcibly pulled her into the passenger seat, and then drove away.

”If you want to break off your engagement with Leon Lynch, I can help you.”

She let out a cold laugh. ”And after I break up with him, what? I become your woman?”

He actually curved his lips into a faint smile. ”Not bad. So you are self-aware.”

Nora Ainsworth was furious. His moods were so unpredictable; she found him impossible to figure out.

She decided not to say any more and stared straight ahead. ”I want to go home.”

He, however, was nonchalant. ”Fine. I’ll take you home.”

”There’s something I don’t understand. Why was it your car last night, but everyone thought it was Herman Hawthorne’s?”

Quentin Grant’s eyes darkened. ”I’d like to know the answer to that myself.”

Nora Ainsworth was sure he was just placating her. ’There’s no way he doesn’t know.’

”You set this up, didn’t you? Do you know Herman Hawthorne?”

He chuckled. ”We’re more than acquaintances. This car was originally his, after all.”

Nora Ainsworth knew it. She was so frustrated she felt like she was about to explode.

Finally losing control, she glared at him. ”Fuck! Stop the car! I’ll get back on my own.”

He completely ignored her. ”Behave yourself. Otherwise, don’t blame me for not holding back.”

’He was threatening her again!’

Nora Ainsworth fell silent. The car didn’t stop until it was just short of the Ainsworth Residence. The moment she got out, his car sped forward, entering the courtyard before she did.

By the time she went inside and reached the entrance to the living room, she saw Mr. Ainsworth sitting and talking with Quentin Grant. Upon seeing Nora, Mr. Ainsworth didn’t hesitate to ask Quentin directly, ”What did Leon’s mother say?”

”Leon Lynch asked me to tell you that he will not break the engagement.”

That single sentence put Mr. Ainsworth’s anxious heart at ease.

The marriage alliance with the Lynch Group offered business benefits that were almost too good to be true.

He wasn’t about to let such a prize, already within his grasp, fall into someone else’s hands.

”In that case, we’ll consider this matter dropped. Nora, I’m warning you again: I don’t want something like this to happen a third time. You’d better remember that. If anything else goes wrong between now and the wedding, I won’t forgive you, even if your mother were here.”

A cold smirk played on her lips, but she lowered her gaze submissively. ”I understand.”

With that, she went upstairs.

Mr. Ainsworth stood up. ”Quentin, I won’t keep you. I have a meeting to get to at the office. Sharon is upstairs now. Why don’t you go up and have a chat with her?”

Quentin Grant hesitated. ”Mr. Ainsworth, I’m not sure that’s appropriate. After all—”

Mr. Ainsworth waved his hand dismissively. ”We’re all family here. There’s no need to be so hesitant. Go on.”

”Very well. Don’t let me keep you, Mr. Ainsworth.”

He headed up the stairs.

Mr. Ainsworth grabbed his jacket and left.

The living room was suddenly so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

Quentin Grant reached the top of the stairs and walked down the hallway.

He finally stopped in front of a door.

Then, with a gentle push, he entered.

The sound of a sad song drifted from the bathroom, along with the SHUSH of running water.

He closed the bedroom door and walked to the bathroom entrance.

The singing from within stopped. Nora Ainsworth asked warily, ”Who’s there?”

Quentin Grant pulled the door open. Their eyes met. He stared directly at her completely uncovered body, his eyes flashing with interest. ”It’s me.”

Nora Ainsworth snatched a bathrobe and wrapped it around herself, glaring at him. ”How dare you just walk into my bedroom?!”

”I’m hardly ’someone else,’ am I? We’ve met a few times, after all. And we’ve even slept together once.”
