Quick Transmigration: The Cannon Fodder's Comeback in the Era Tales

Chapter 196: Chapter 196: The Hapless Big Sister 10

She cannot tell her eldest daughter that she’s been pretending to be sick just to make her do more work.

”Mom, let’s go, if you don’t bring money, we can charge it to Dad’s account.”

The steel factory has its own hospital, and family members can see a doctor without bringing money, they just charge it to the household’s steel factory employee account.

Yuan Chun dragged Mrs. Zhong along.

Someone saw them and asked, ”Yuan Chun, where are you taking your mom?”

”Oh, Aunt Zhao, my mom’s health has been so weak, she can’t even do basic cooking, laundry, or cleaning. Just think, she’s still so young, not even forty, and already in poor health. I feel bad for her, so I want to take her to the hospital for a checkup. But my mom doesn’t want to go.”

”Ms. Ma, this isn’t right, your health is poor and your child is so filial. You should go for a check-up. But Ms. Ma, you look pretty healthy to me. Are you really too weak to do housework?”

”Yes, Aunt Zhao, since I was eight, I’ve done all the housework by myself. My mom said she’s too weak and gets sick if she does any work.”

”Oh dear, then hurry to the hospital for a check-up. It’s been so many years, what if it turns into a serious illness?”

Aunt Zhao, being enthusiastic, wanted to go with the mother and daughter.

Yuan Chun was more than willing, ”Thank you, Aunt Zhao.”

”No need to thank me, we’re neighbors from the same factory, we should help each other.”

Actually, Aunt Zhao just wanted to see the commotion.

Ms. Ma, looking radiantly healthy, still deceives her child by claiming she’s sick, tricking an eight-year-old into doing all the housework.

That’s truly wicked.

However, Yuan Chun looks pale, emaciated, and unhealthy.

Yuan Chun deliberately took Mrs. Zhong along more crowded paths, attracting several gossipy aunties to join in on the spectacle.

Thus, a grand procession headed to the hospital, they forced Mrs. Zhong to undergo a full check-up, despite her protests.

Of course, the results showed she was healthy.

Yuan Chun immediately played the victim.

She cried out in grievance, ”Mom, you’ve fooled me, you’ve been lying to me all this time, saying you’re unwell and can’t do housework. You had me washing clothes at five, learning to cook at six, and by eight, doing all the chores. Waaa... Mom, how could you deceive your own daughter like this? I was only eight back then, had to take care of my brother, do chores, and stay up late every night. Mom, how could you be so heartless?”

”For your health, I’ve been doing all the housework by myself for nine years. I had to go to school, take care of my siblings, pick up trash and coal cinders to buy veggies and mantou, and help you with matchboxes, from four in the morning till past ten at night, never stopping, nine years, Mom. Look at what I’ve become, I’m all skin and bones. Does it not hurt you to see this? I’m your daughter, Mom...”

Mrs. Zhong was publicly confronted by her daughter and watched by a crowd of familiar faces, feeling so ashamed she wanted to dig a hole and disappear into it.

”That’s not true, Yuan Chun, I... I’ve only regained my health in the last two years. I really was very weak before, Yuan Chun, please believe your mom.”

Mrs. Zhong had no choice but to try and salvage her image in the eyes of her daughter and neighbors.

But, who would believe her?

One of the aunties said, ”Yuan Chun’s mom, you’ve always looked well, never seemed sick. How could you deceive your daughter just to be lazy?”
