Quick Transmigration: The Cannon Fodder's Comeback in the Era Tales

Chapter 187: Chapter 187: The Big Sis Sucker (Part 1)

”Yuan Chun, girl, here’s your mantou. Hold it well, don’t drop it.”

An elderly hand extended a large basket, which contained ten large round white mantou, still warm, emitting a fragrant smell of flour.

Perhaps it was the reaction of this body, Yuan Chun looked at the mantou, and couldn’t help but drool, while her flat stomach rumbled loudly.

Yuan Chun took the basket and politely said, ”Thank you, Grandpa Zhao.”

”Hey, hurry along now. If you’re hungry, remember to eat one on the way,” Old Man Zhao waved his hand and returned to the kitchen.

Some old customers of the mantou shop all recognized Zhong Yuanchun.

Someone pointed at her, commenting, ”This child, foolishly gets up at the crack of dawn to pick up coal cinders to exchange for mantou, but doesn’t even eat one herself. They are all eaten by her younger siblings, yet she’s tirelessly happy to do so.”

”The Zhong couple shows favoritism too. This eldest girl has become so thin, yet they don’t care for their other children.”

”It’s best to say less. This silly girl does it willingly, if you talk too much and the Zhong family hears, they’ll surely come and tear your mouth apart.”

Yuan Chun carried the basket and found a secluded place, then slipped into the space.

That’s right, her space could now accommodate people.

After the end of the last small world, the Main God rewarded her with one hundred points, upgraded her space level, and placed the two Space Buttons given by 001 into the Jade Gourd Space, thus greatly expanding it, allowing it to hold living beings.

In the future, she could enter the space to accept the original host’s memory.

”Host, please accept the plot.”

This small world is set in the 1980s.

Mr. Zhong is a formal worker at a steel factory, earning forty-two yuan a month, while Mrs. Zhong doesn’t work, making some money at home by gluing matchboxes, earning about seventeen or eighteen yuan a month.

The Zhong family has four children. The eldest is the original host Zhong Yuanchun, who is seventeen and in her third year of junior high.

The second, Zhong Guoqiang, is fifteen and also in his third year of junior high.

The third, Zhong Guohao, is thirteen and in his first year of junior high.

The youngest, Zhong Yuanfen, is nine and in the third grade.

Mrs. Zhong holds outdated views, believing that men should avoid kitchen work, that household chores are for women, and that men doing housework will lead to no success. As such, the two younger brothers never do housework at home.

Zhong Yuanfen is the youngest daughter, and Mrs. Zhong adores her the most, refusing to let her do any chores, raising her like an ancient spoiled lady, whose fingers haven’t touched the spring water, so it’s the original host who does all the housework.

The original host, being the eldest daughter, had to care for her younger siblings. Whatever was good to eat, wear, or play with, she had to give it to her brothers and sisters.

Because she had to stay home to watch her siblings, the original host only started first grade at the age of ten. This was after the neighborhood committee leaders came to persuade them, and word reached the steel plant, leading Mr. Zhong to be reprimanded by his superiors, forcing the Zhong couple to send her to school.

Fearing it would affect Mr. Zhong’s impression with the supervisors, the Zhong couple had to continuously support the original host until she graduated from junior high.

The original host excelled in academics, always ranking first in her grade, and this time, she was even admitted to a key high school in the city, while Zhong Guoqiang’s grades were at the bottom, failing to get into high school.

Mrs. Zhong decided to have her son repeat a year, and asked the eldest daughter to drop out of school.

Mrs. Zhong said, ”With so many children in the family, your father and I find it hard to support all. You, being the eldest sister, should be more considerate, let your siblings study, and you should find a job to lighten your father’s and my burden.”

”Yuan Chun, I know you’ve sacrificed a lot for this family over the years. Just endure a few more years, help the family, and when your brothers succeed, they will be your support after you’re married.”
