Tycoon: I Have an Unlimited Modifier

The chance for a promotion from the big boss left Wang Huazhang ecstatic.

However, he quickly composed himself and looked at his boss with some hesitation.

”Boss, you’re not planning to send me to the Banyan Tree at Meibei Lake, are you?”

Qi Sheng gave a faint smile. ”What’s wrong? Is the Banyan Tree at Meibei Lake no good?”

”Boss, please don’t mess with me. Everyone knows the Meibei Lake project is a joke. No one in the group even dares to bring it up anymore.”

Wang Huazhang’s emotions were on a roller coaster, plummeting from elation to despair.

For the people of Xi’an, the Great Tang All-Night City in Qujiang was a source of immense pride.

But one Qujiang clearly wasn’t enough to satisfy the city leaders’ ambitions.

Thus, creating another Qujiang became the new focus of Xi’an’s development.

And so, the Meibei Lake project was born.

The Banyan Tree Group was one of the investors drawn in by the grand vision of a ”second Qujiang.”

They planned to build one of their luxury Banyan Tree hotels at Meibei Lake—a place out in the middle of nowhere.

After Qi Sheng took charge, the very first project he shut down was the one at Meibei Lake.

The Banyan Tree brand’s value absolutely could not be tarnished.

Never mind the question of whether the Meibei Lake development would even be completed successfully.

The simple lack of foot traffic was enough for Qi Sheng to kill the deal.

”Rest assured, a Banyan Tree will still be coming to Xi’an, just definitely not to Meibei Lake.”

Qi Sheng asked with a smile, ”What do you think of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda Resort?”

”Perfect. Xi’an will never be able to create another Big Wild Goose Pagoda Resort.”

Wang Huazhang said without a moment’s hesitation.

”Oh?”

Qi Sheng looked at him, intrigued.

”Go on.”

”Personally, I believe the success of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda Resort was due to a government-led initiative. It leveraged Xi’an’s rich history and culture, focusing on a ’tourism + urban development’ model and relying on its prime resources. That’s how it blazed a new, market-driven trail.”

”Since then, Xi’an has tried to develop a few other scenic areas, but the results have been mediocre at best.”

”The fundamental reason for the Great Wild Goose Pagoda’s success was land acquisition. The government took the lead in creating a cultural and tourism hub, and once the cultural industry demonstration zone took off, the real estate market naturally boomed with it.”

”The surrounding property values skyrocketed, and the revenue from land sales was quickly recouped, making it a massive success.”

As a Xi’an native, Wang Huazhang had witnessed the city’s rapid transformation with his own eyes.

But to try and recreate the Big Wild Goose Pagoda Resort was nothing short of a pipe dream.

Qi Sheng nodded. Wang Huazhang had a point.

But that had little to do with him.

He was just a businessman; he didn’t need to worry about urban planning.

”I plan to open a Banyan Tree Hotel in the Big Wild Goose Pagoda Resort. When that happens, you will be its general manager.”

Qi Sheng didn’t beat around the bush. This was a reward for Wang Huazhang’s hard work.

”Thank you, Chairman Qi!”

Not doubting the truth of Qi Sheng’s words for a second, Wang Huazhang quickly bowed, his expression one of pure excitement.

Going from a Yuechun to a Banyan Tree, it might seem like his job title hadn’t changed.

But within the group, the difference in status was night and day.

Reaching the position of general manager at a Banyan Tree meant the next step was regional president.

He would finally be entering the Banyan Tree Group’s upper echelons.

An annual salary in the tens of millions was beckoning to him.

”No need to thank me yet. Since you’re here in Xi’an, I’m putting you in charge of site selection and scouting. Submit a written report to me when you’re done, and the group will send a team to negotiate with the resort.”

Qi Sheng waved his hand with a smile and casually used an Elite Level Talent Recruitment Card on Wang Huazhang.

”Rest assured, sir. I will conduct a thorough inspection and secure the absolute best location for the hotel.”

As Wang Huazhang looked at Qi Sheng, his gaze was filled with unprecedented determination and admiration.

’Before, my ambition to climb the ladder was mostly about status and money. But now, none of that matters. As long as I can earn Chairman Qi’s approval, I wouldn’t hesitate for a second, even if it meant working myself to the bone.’

”Alright, you can get back to your work.”

Seeing that Wang Huazhang had become another loyal employee, Qi Sheng was naturally more at ease with him.

”Of course. Please call me anytime if you need anything, sir.”

Wang Huazhang excused himself cautiously, his demeanor even more deferential than before.

Qi Sheng didn’t linger at the hotel any longer, returning to his private hot spring suite.

He had just pulled out his phone when he saw a plea for help from his girl.

Du Xinxin: ”Babe, my parents grounded me. When are you coming to rescue me?”

Qi Sheng: ”What’s wrong? Your parents aren’t happy with me?”

Du Xinxin: ”No, that’s not it! They were just shocked by your sudden visit. My mom especially kept asking if you got me pregnant. It’s so embarrassing! (blushing)”

Qi Sheng: ”Haha, sounds like your mom can’t wait for us to make things official, huh?”

Du Xinxin: ”Hmph, it’s all your fault for showing up unannounced. My dad’s looking for his belt as we speak, so you’d better watch your back!”

Qi Sheng: ”Send me the address. I’m on my way.”

Du Xinxin: ”Hee hee, I knew you wouldn’t back down! I’ll be waiting for you!”

Looking at the location his girl sent, Qi Sheng wasn’t the least bit nervous.

’After all, I’m a big shot worth billions now. What father-in-law would be willing to kick a prize catch like me out the door?’

...

Vanke Golden Qujiang.

The residential complex had only been completed a few years ago, and both its quality and landscaping were quite good.

It was considered a high-end community, with apartments selling for over 30,000 per square meter.

’Looks like Xinxin’s family is pretty well-off,’ Qi Sheng thought with a small smile, not giving it much thought. ’Anyone who studies art usually comes from a family with decent means. But no matter how well-off they were, how could they compare to his current net worth?’

When the security guard saw Qi Sheng arrive with bodyguards in tow, he didn’t dare ask too many questions and quickly let them pass.

Once inside the complex, Qi Sheng followed the signs along the path.
