Tycoon: I Have an Unlimited Modifier

”Hello, Chef Lin.”

Qi Sheng smiled and shook Lin Shuwei’s hand.

He was very satisfied with the Expert Level talent the system had rewarded him with.

One could say that Lin Shuwei was among the very best of the Expert Level talents.

He still had a ways to go before reaching Master Level.

But compared to a piece of trash like Wu Rong, he was better by a long shot.

”Have a seat. I’d like to hear your thoughts on Sichuan cuisine.”

Possessing Master Level culinary skills, Qi Sheng was naturally the most suitable interviewer.

”Boss, my understanding of Sichuan cuisine is...”

Lin Shuwei had started working at fifteen and made it to the position of executive chef by twenty-four.

Besides his expertise in Cantonese cuisine, he had also made significant achievements in Sichuan cuisine.

Before being recruited by Qi Sheng, Lin Shuwei had served as the executive chef at the Century City Intercontinental Hotel in Chengdu.

From a five-star hotel to this Zifei branch.

Although both were executive chef positions, the difference in status was worlds apart.

After all, the executive chef of an InterContinental Hotel was in charge of a whole team of head chefs.

But under the system’s influence, Lin Shuwei felt no disappointment. On the contrary, his fighting spirit was soaring.

During the interview, Qi Sheng also offered Lin Shuwei some high-level pointers, which left the latter feeling surprised and delighted.

He never would have dreamed that his boss, so young, was already a master in the fields of Sichuan and Cantonese cuisine.

Compared to the possibility of breaking through to the Master Level, the annual salary was far less important.

Qi Sheng was always very generous with the talent under him.

As the restaurant’s head chef, Qi Sheng offered Lin Shuwei a monthly salary of 200,000.

This was considerably higher than even his annual salary at the New Century State Hotel.

Lin Shuwei had also gained some fame through the show *Chinese Restaurant*.

He had been on quite a few variety shows and didn’t have high demands for salary.

But for his boss to be so generous naturally made him feel very grateful.

This was also a form of recognition for his abilities.

Qi Sheng said with a smile, ”You will be in charge of the day-to-day management of the restaurant.”

”You will personally cook for any difficult-to-please customers.”

”If you need to go out for a variety show recording, just make sure to arrange your work in advance.”

A celebrity chef like Lin Shuwei certainly couldn’t be treated like an ordinary one.

Just the news that Lin Shuwei was working at Chongqing Zifei would be enough to attract countless fans who had seen the show to come and check it out.

”Thank you, Boss.”

Lin Shuwei bowed deeply to Qi Sheng in gratitude.

He hadn’t expected his boss to give him so much autonomy.

Lin Shuwei, who had become a hit through the *Chinese Restaurant* show, did indeed have many invitations from variety shows.

But since he had accepted Qi Sheng’s offer, he was prepared to turn some of them down.

Yet not only did Qi Sheng not object, he even strongly encouraged him to participate in the shows.

A boss as good as Qi Sheng was the best Lin Shuwei had ever seen in his life.

”Your fame is a good thing for the restaurant.”

”But at the same time, customers will be all the more demanding of your cooking and the restaurant’s standards. I hope you can handle that pressure.”

Qi Sheng said that, but he wasn’t worried that Lin Shuwei couldn’t take the pressure.

Lin Shuwei had been working hard since he was a teenager; his mental fortitude was definitely not something an ordinary person could compare to.

”Don’t you worry. I can handle as much slander as I can praise.”

Lin Shuwei smiled calmly, his confidence serene and composed.

”Good. From this day forward, you are the executive chef of Chongqing Zifei. I trust you won’t let me down!”

Qi Sheng extended his hand toward Lin Shuwei, happy to have gained such a capable right-hand man.

”Rest assured, I promise I won’t disappoint you!”

Lin Shuwei gripped Qi Sheng’s hand firmly, his tone impassioned yet steady.

...

On the way home, Tan Hua was also very happy as she looked at the photo she had taken with Lin Shuwei.

”It’s just a photo. Do you have to be like this?”

Qi Sheng felt a bit helpless. He hadn’t expected his girlfriend to be a fangirl.

”Chef Lin is super popular! He has tons of fangirls online.”

”I bet that once Chef Lin posts on Weibo, our restaurant’s reservation line will be ringing off the hook.”

Tan Hua said this with absolute certainty.

Her tone was full of admiration for the celebrity chef, Lin Shuwei.

”That’d be great.”

As the owner of Zifei, Qi Sheng naturally hoped the restaurant’s business would be as booming as possible.

As for Tan Yuheng, who had had quite a bit to drink, the more he looked at Qi Sheng, who had built such a remarkable career at such a young age, the more satisfied and worried he became.

Anyone would be incredibly satisfied to have such an outstanding son-in-law.

But the worries came along with it.

’With Qi Sheng’s excellent qualifications and outstanding abilities, wouldn’t there be other girls around him who were just as good as his own daughter?’

It was a good thing Tan Hua was tight-lipped and had never told her parents about all the other beautiful women flocking around Qi Sheng.

Otherwise, Old Tan would have definitely chased Qi Sheng down with a kitchen knife.

When they got home, Han Yueying was making the bed for Qi Sheng.

Although she knew that when her daughter stayed at Qi Sheng’s place, they 100% slept together every night.

But since they weren’t married yet, they still had to observe some propriety.

”Uncle Tan, enjoying this ’Beef’ tea?”

”Haha, a ’Beef’ tea that costs four or five hundred yuan a pot... I’d only ever bring this out when you visit, or to occasionally serve friends. Otherwise, I couldn’t bear to drink it.”

Tan Yuheng skillfully brewed the tea, showing off his craft.

Drinking tea with his son-in-law, the conversation grew more and more engaging.

Tan Yuheng himself was a university professor, a quintessential man of culture.

And his son-in-law, Qi Sheng—never mind his handsome looks and outstanding abilities, even his cultural knowledge was nearly on par with his own.

When Qi Sheng was bored, he would read all sorts of books on every imaginable topic.

With an intelligence stat of 90, he couldn’t claim to have a photographic memory, but he still knew far more than the average person.

Even though his father-in-law was a university professor, Qi Sheng was still able to hold his own.

”Alright, that’s enough chatting. Are you two going to sleep tonight or what?”

Seeing the father and son-in-law getting more and more engrossed in their conversation, Han Yueying had to come over and take the teapot away to forcibly interrupt them.

”It is indeed getting late. Uncle Tan, you should get some rest too. You had quite a bit to drink tonight. We can talk to our hearts’ content when we have another chance.”

Qi Sheng checked the time; it was already after midnight.

”Of course. Anyway, you and Huahua don’t live far. If you miss me and your aunt, you’re always welcome to come over. Just treat this place like your own home.”

Tan Yuheng yawned and followed Han Yueying back to the master bedroom.

Both Han Yueying and Tan Yuheng had tried to convince Qi Sheng to stay longer since he was leaving tomorrow.

But he cited a busy schedule at his company as the reason, so they didn’t press the issue.

Back in the guest room, Qi Sheng played on his phone, waiting for Tan Hua to sneak over.

Less than five minutes later, there was a sound at the door.

Tan Hua, dressed in a white nightgown, had a somewhat cool and aloof aura in the moonlight.

But her face was shy and nervous, clearly showing the guilt of someone trying to be sneaky.

”This is all your fault. Mom’s going to laugh at me again tomorrow.”

Tan Hua climbed into bed and immediately turned the tables on him.

”Alright, alright, it’s all my fault.”

Qi Sheng didn’t mind letting Tan Hua win the verbal spat.

After all, he was the one who would enjoy the final reward.

”Hubby, thank you for taking me to see your parents this time, and for making a special trip back to see mine.”

Tan Hua rested her head in Qi Sheng’s arms, recalling the past two weeks they had spent alone.

Her delicate face was filled with bliss.

Ever since Qi Sheng became rich, the time they spent alone together had become less and less.

These past two weeks had been, without a doubt, the happiest time for her.

Even though she was ”bullied” to death every day, she cherished this opportunity to have Qi Sheng’s affection all to herself.

”Silly girl, you’re my official girlfriend. There’s no need for thank yous.”

Qi Sheng flicked Tan Hua’s forehead lightly.

He understood her insecurity, though.

”Then... do you want me to thank you properly?”

As Tan Hua spoke, her hand traveled down Qi Sheng’s body, gradually reaching the most familiar territory.

”Hiss...”

Qi Sheng looked at his increasingly skilled girlfriend, his heart swelling with pride.

One could say that Tan Hua had been a blank slate, whom he had personally molded into the woman she was today.

In front of others, she was still that cool and aloof, top-tier beauty.

But in front of Qi Sheng, she was just a beautiful wife, passionate as fire.

...

Next door.

Hearing the familiar sounds, Han Yueying sighed helplessly.

Learning from last time, Han Yueying took a pair of noise-canceling earplugs from the nightstand.

After putting them in, the noise was greatly reduced.

But while the sounds were quieter, they weren’t completely gone.

Perhaps because they were about to be separated, Tan Hua was clearly more enthusiastic and uninhibited today.

This was torture for Han Yueying. But then she looked at Tan Yuheng, snoring like thunder beside her.

Han Yueying silently took out a pair of nail clippers and began to trim her nails.

A middle-aged woman had to be self-reliant, after all.

’That girl, Tan Hua, is really lucky,’ she thought. ’Just because he’s strong now that he’s young doesn’t mean he’ll be as strong when he’s old. But at the very least, Qi Sheng is better than Tan Yuheng, who never had a prime to begin with.’
