**

Holding the now-empty storage ring with a cloth, Wei Yang tossed it back onto the table without any intention of taking it with him.

Even though it was a mid-grade storage ring worth at least 200,000 gold coins, he still found it off-putting.

”Brother Yang, this storage ring looks quite high-end. It doesn’t seem like a low-grade one. Aren’t we taking it?” Xian’er asked with a hint of reluctance.

”This is a mid-grade storage ring with about a hundred square meters of space,” Wei Yang shook his head. ”I don’t want to take it. Let’s just leave it for Gu Te.”

”Mid-grade storage ring?” Xian’er widened her eyes and glanced down at the ring on her own finger—it was just a low-grade storage ring.

And he was giving up on this one so easily?

”Ahem, I already took one of his mid-grade storage rings. Once I check its contents, I’ll give it to you,” Wei Yang coughed lightly. ”As for this one, let’s leave it for him. We’ve already taken enough from him. It’s only fair to leave him with something.”

He couldn’t exactly explain to her that this storage ring had been... worn on a certain unspeakable part of that old pervert’s body.

”Oh, okay then,” Xian’er nodded, accepting his reasoning. ”We’ve already taken so many of his treasures. Leaving a storage ring behind seems reasonable.”

”Yeah, always leave a way out for others,” Wei Yang replied smoothly. ”We have no personal grudge against him, so there’s no need to be ruthless.”

”Are we leaving now?” Xian’er asked.

”We haven’t searched this place yet.” Wei Yang led Xian’er to a wall. ”Once we finish looting, we’ll go.”

Xian’er blinked at the smooth wall in front of them. ”There’s a hidden room behind here?”

”Yeah,” Wei Yang nodded, unleashing his powerful soul force to scan the entire wall.

A moment later—

Boom!

With a faint muffled sound, the wall split apart, revealing a passage leading into a hidden chamber.

”There really is a secret room!” Xian’er’s eyes lit up. ”I wonder if there are any precious medicinal ingredients inside.”

Wei Yang glanced at her—all she ever thinks about is herbs.

He extended his soul force into the hidden chamber to scan its contents.

After a quick sweep, he retracted his soul force.

Inside was a twenty-square-meter chamber, seemingly used for either closed-door cultivation or pill refinement.

But—

It was completely empty.

Apart from a few tables, chairs, cushions, and a small wooden stand, there was nothing else.

Wei Yang recalled how, in the original novel, Gu Te had intentionally entered this secret chamber in front of Xiao Yan, only to retrieve the Ice Spirit Cold Fountain from... a certain personal area.

Damn, this old bastard...

Wei Yang was speechless.

Of course, if there were any valuable items, carrying them in a storage ring was the safest option.

Unlike the treasure vaults of major clans and sects, which were guarded day and night, it was much safer for an individual to keep their valuables on their person.

And Gu Te’s storage ring had been hidden in such an... intimate location.

...

”Brother Yang, what’s wrong? Is there anything inside?” Xian’er asked when she saw him standing still.

”Yeah, there’s something good inside. Go in and get it,” Wei Yang said casually, messing with her.

”Oh,” Xian’er believed him without question and obediently stepped inside.

Wei Yang chuckled and turned away, casually strolling to the doorway.

Not long after—

Xian’er stormed out, pouting. She ran up to him and pinched his waist. ”Big meanie! You tricked me! I’ll pinch you to death!”

”Haha, I was wrong...” Wei Yang laughed, pretending to surrender.

He then took her hand and led her out of the room.

Standing in the hallway, Wei Yang turned back to glance at Gu Te, who was still snoring soundly on the floor.

”Xian’er, how long until he wakes up?” Wei Yang asked.

”Hmm...” Xian’er tilted her head, thinking for a moment. ”At least twelve hours.”

”As long as he wakes up, that’s fine,” Wei Yang nodded. ”After all, we’re only here for wealth, not for lives. And since he’s Pill King Gu He’s biological brother, if something happened to him, Gu He would probably go crazy.”

”Mm, I know. Don’t worry. When I prepared the knockout drug, I controlled the dosage carefully. With his Da Dou Shi cultivation, he’ll wake up in about twelve hours at most,” Xian’er explained.

”Twelve hours later, we’ll be long gone from Black Rock City,” Wei Yang chuckled, pulling Xian’er along as they turned to leave.

After exiting the building, they closed the door behind them.

The two figures, shrouded in wide black robes, blended into the darkness and disappeared without a trace.

Five Days Later

Early the next morning, Wei Yang and Xian’er left the city.

After departing from Black Rock City, they immediately took to the skies, flying at full speed.

Five days later, having traveled across nearly half of the Jia Ma Empire, they finally returned to Wu Tan City.

That night, after arriving home, the two of them casually tidied up the house before retiring to rest.

The next morning, they began sorting through their spoils.

Xian’er held in her hands a collection of forty-eight rare medicinal herbs, ranging from Tier 4 to Tier 5 in quality.

Among them, there were three Tier 4 medicinal herbs beneficial for soul recovery, known as Soul-Nourishing Lotus.

As for Wei Yang, aside from the Ice Spirit Cold Fountain and the pill formulas for Dou Spirit Pill and Mighty Huang Pill, he had also acquired two refined pills: Three Lines Green Spirit Pill and Purple Heart Barrier-Breaking Pill.

Additionally, there were four thick and ancient books.

After sorting through these items, the next treasure to examine was the storage ring taken from Gu Te.

The ring’s internal space measured about twenty square meters, with a height of roughly five meters—already a very decent storage ring.

With a single thought, Wei Yang summoned all its contents.

Clatter!

A massive pile of items tumbled onto the floor of the hall.

”This storage ring is yours,” Wei Yang casually tossed the now-empty ring to Xian’er.

Xian’er caught it and scanned it with her soul force, her eyes widening in surprise. ”The internal space is so big! It’s like a whole room! Brother Yang, you’re not keeping it?”

Wei Yang raised his hand, revealing a different ring he had obtained from a cliff cave encounter, and smiled. ”I’ve got a bigger one.”

This particular storage ring had an internal space of about three hundred square meters and a height equivalent to a three-story building—a high-grade and extremely rare storage ring.

”Oh!” Seeing this, Xian’er happily put away the ring.

The one she had been using before was the low-grade storage ring taken from Mu She, which only had five square meters of space—barely enough for her needs.

After securing their respective rings, the two of them cheerfully began sorting through the mountain of loot before them.

They started with the bottles and jars, picking them out first.

Inside were several Tier 3 common pills, including Qi Recovery Pills, Healing Pills, and Detox Pills—all useful but not particularly rare.

Next, they sorted through various Tier 2 and Tier 3 spirit herbs, likely Gu Te’s personal stash for regular use.

Following that were numerous books and notes.

Most of these were basic alchemy knowledge, which Wei Yang deliberately set aside in a neat stack.

These fundamental alchemy materials were the true treasures among the loot.

Among them were several alchemy journals written by various Tier 3 and Tier 4 alchemists, including Gu Te himself, recording their experiences and insights on refining pills.

Next were pill formulas and scrolls, ranging from Tier 1 to common Tier 4 pill formulas. While not particularly valuable, they were extensive and diverse in variety.

Additionally, they found several Xuan-Grade cultivation techniques and Dou Techniques, along with a special fire control technique.

Mid-Level Xuan-Grade Fire Cultivation Technique: Blazing Flame Art

Mid-Level Xuan-Grade Fire Dou Technique: Blazing Flame Palm

Low-Level Xuan-Grade Fire Dou Technique: Blazing Flame Finger

Ancient Fire Control Technique of the Gu Clan

The fire control technique was particularly intriguing—it contained two sets of annotations.

One set was orderly and methodical, with a calm and refined tone.

The other set was arrogant and flamboyant, often deliberately contradicting the first set.

There was no doubt—these notes belonged to Pill King Gu He and his brother, Gu Te.
