**

After returning to the inn in Rock Desert City, Wei Yang greeted Ye Xian’er before heading straight to his room to rest.

For soul power depletion, the best way to recover was through sleep rather than meditation or cultivation.

The next morning, Wei Yang woke up feeling refreshed.

Not only had his depleted soul power fully recovered, but it had also improved slightly.

Clearly, the cycle of exhaustion and recovery had led to growth in his soul power.

It was similar to what happened before when the mysterious black iron scroll had devoured his soul power—after recovering, his soul power had strengthened.

No wonder alchemists had such formidable soul power. Their frequent pill refining constantly tempered their souls.

Refining pills consumed not only Dou Qi but also vast amounts of soul power.

This process of depletion and recovery naturally led to gradual increases in soul strength.

...

At the breakfast table, Wei Yang glanced at Xian’er, who was taking small bites of her meal. Thinking about how she had accompanied him on his daily excursions into the desert, he couldn’t help but feel a bit distressed for her.

Even though she was already at the Da Dou Shi realm, her Dou Qi was poison-attributed, which inherently conflicted with the scorching desert environment.

Among all the elements, fire was the strongest counter to poison.

Especially Heavenly Flames—they were practically the nemesis of poison. A poison element cultivator facing a Heavenly Flame would find their power significantly weakened.

Of course, there were exceptions. For example, Ghostly Poison Flame, ranked twentieth on the Heavenly Flame Ranking, was a unique flame born from poison attributes.

In the future, he could plan for Xian’er to devour the Ghostly Poison Flame, which would not only eliminate the suppression of Heavenly Flames but also significantly enhance her attack power.

The Ghostly Poison Flame was a perfect match for her Woeful Poison Body.

”The Ghostly Poison Marsh in the Chu Yun Empire...” Wei Yang thought to himself.

That was the most likely place to find the Ghostly Poison Flame. When the time was right, he could take Xian’er there to search for it.

There were also rumors that the Ghostly Poison Flame could serve as a substitute for the Poison Pill Method, allowing complete control over the Woeful Poison Body.

He wasn’t sure if that was true, but the claim wasn’t entirely baseless. Even if it didn’t grant complete control, it could at least significantly delay the full outbreak of her Woeful Poison Body, possibly pushing it back to the Dou Zun stage.

These thoughts flashed through his mind before he set them aside.

After breakfast, he noticed that Xian’er had finished preparing and was ready to set out.

”Xian’er, why don’t you stay at the inn today? You don’t have to come with me,” Wei Yang suggested.

Xian’er was momentarily stunned, then immediately threw herself into his arms, shaking her head. ”No! I want to go with you! You’re not leaving me behind!”

Wei Yang couldn’t help but smile helplessly. He ruffled her hair and said, ”I’m not abandoning you. I go out in the morning and come back by dusk. The Heavenly Flame won’t be that easy to find—it might take days.”

”I don’t care! I want to be with you!” Xian’er clung to him tightly.

”Silly girl, I’m just worried about you,” Wei Yang said gently. ”Your poison attribute Dou Qi is naturally suppressed in the hot desert environment. Haven’t you noticed over the past few days?”

”I have. It does feel a little uncomfortable,” Xian’er admitted, looking up at him seriously. ”But that’s why I have to get used to it—so I can adapt faster when I encounter it in the future.”

”I want to help you, not hide behind you and become a burden.”

Wei Yang was momentarily stunned, then smiled, his eyes full of affection. He lowered his head and placed a light kiss on her soft, rosy lips.

Xian’er’s body trembled slightly, her face flushing with warmth and happiness. Embarrassed, she buried her head in his chest and whispered, ”You’re such a bad guy! You’re always bullying me...”

”Haha!” Wei Yang laughed heartily, feeling in high spirits as he led her out.

Letting this little girl endure some hardships wouldn’t be a bad thing.

She was supposed to be a powerful Heavenly Poison Lady, and he couldn’t afford to pamper her into weakness.

...

Time passed.

Half a month later.

Wei Yang stood at the base of a sand dune, eyes closed. His powerful soul energy condensed into a focused thread, drilling deep into the ground.

Through continuous tempering over the past few weeks, his soul power had grown significantly.

Compared to when he first arrived in Rock Desert City twenty days ago, his soul power had increased by at least 40%, becoming even more refined.

This was a rare achievement, and he was quite pleased.

Since he wasn’t in a hurry, he relaxed his mind and treated the search as a form of cultivation, taking joy in the process of honing his soul power.

After all, increasing soul power was extremely difficult.

Aside from a few rare heavenly treasures, the primary means of growth were advancing in cultivation level and gradual accumulation over time.

Now that he had discovered such an effective method to strengthen his soul power, there was no way he would let this opportunity slip by.

Of course, this kind of growth was not limitless.

As his soul power gradually adapted to this tempering process and environment, he had clearly noticed in the past two days that its growth rate was starting to slow down.

However, Wei Yang didn’t mind. He had already expected this.

After all, this was the first time in years that he had actively trained his soul power, so rapid growth was only natural.

But there was bound to be a limit—it was impossible to keep increasing indefinitely.

Gaining a 40% increase was already an extremely rare achievement.

”Judging by my current rate of improvement, once this tempering process is complete, my soul power should grow by another 10% or so. At that point, my soul power will be comparable to that of an average Dou Zong expert!” Wei Yang thought to himself.

Right now, he was merely a One-Star Dou Ling, yet his soul power could rival a Dou Zong—this was terrifying.

The advantages of having powerful soul strength were self-evident.

Beyond heightened perception and sensitivity, the most crucial benefit was comprehension ability.

The stronger the soul, the greater one’s ability to comprehend techniques.

To ordinary martial artists, Low-Level and Mid-Level Xuan-Grade Dou Techniques were extremely valuable treasures.

Yet, for Dou Zong experts, creating such techniques from scratch was merely a matter of time.

Aside from having a high cultivation realm, Dou Zong experts also possessed powerful soul strength, which naturally enhanced their comprehension abilities.

...

Not far away, on top of a sand dune, a graceful figure in white sat cross-legged, meditating with a focused expression.

It was Ye Xian’er.

Since Wei Yang had decided to temper her, he wasn’t going to be half-hearted about it—he took it very seriously.

At this moment, Ye Xian’er was continuously circulating her Dou Qi in this scorching environment, repeatedly compressing and refining it.

Due to the desert’s extreme heat, her poison attribute Dou Qi was naturally suppressed.

However, this very suppression served as a form of tempering, allowing her poison Dou Qi to undergo refinement.

As time passed, it became purer and denser.

Through this process, her control over her Dou Qi also improved significantly, enabling her to manipulate it with greater precision.

...

Time continued to flow.

Another seven days passed.

Standing atop a sand dune, Wei Yang, with his eyes closed, suddenly snapped them open. Excitement flashed across his face as he grinned.

”After searching for nearly a month, I’ve finally found it! Deep underground, the core magma filled with fire-attribute energy!”

”The birthplace of the Green Lotus Core Flame!”

Wei Yang retracted his soul power and instinctively rubbed his temples. Though there was a slight fatigue on his face, it was far from overwhelming.

Compared to a month ago, his soul power had increased by a solid 50% and had become even more refined.

In total, his soul strength had more than doubled compared to when he first arrived.

At this point, his soul power was not much weaker than that of an average Dou Zong expert.

Looking down at the sand dune beneath his feet, a confident smile appeared at the corner of his lips.

The Green Lotus Core Flame...

Had finally been found.
