As Wei Yang landed, before he could even steady himself or say a word, a soft, fragrant figure rushed toward him, throwing herself into his arms and hugging him tightly.

Wei Yang winced slightly. The impact from the little girl made his whole body ache again, but he endured it without making a sound. Instead, he tightened his arms around her.

”Brother Yang, are you okay? Are you seriously hurt?” Ye Xian’er anxiously examined him, her small hands fumbling over his body.

”No, no, I’m not hurt at all,” Wei Yang quickly reassured her.

”Brother Yang, I was so worried about you just now...” Xian’er’s voice was choked with emotion.

Looking at Xian’er sobbing in his arms, Wei Yang gently rubbed her little head with affection and comforted her in a soft voice, ”Silly girl, I’m perfectly fine. I’m very strong, you know.”

”Mm.” Xian’er nodded firmly. She snuggled closer into his embrace before lifting her head, her eyes still slightly red.

She pouted and complained, ”Brother Yang, you lied to me! You said you needed my help, but you ended up handling everything yourself.”

Her expression dimmed as she muttered dejectedly, ”It’s all because I’m useless. I couldn’t even help you.”

”Who said that? Xian’er, you’re very useful. Just wait and see.” Wei Yang let go of the reluctant and slightly puzzled Xian’er. With a slight movement, the black wings on his back unfurled, and he soared into the air.

Hovering over the magma lake, he looked down at the massive Two-Headed Flame Spirit Serpent submerged in the molten lava. Its body was covered in wounds, its scales shattered, and some areas even exposed raw bone. Its eyes were shut, and it lay there lifelessly, like a dead serpent.

Wei Yang extended his senses and quickly detected a faint trace of life within the beast. Moreover, its body was secretly absorbing the surrounding magma energy to recover.

”Hmph! So it’s still alive. No surprise there. A magic beast that has grown up in magma truly has remarkable vitality,” Wei Yang sneered, unsurprised.

After all, this was its natural habitat. In this kind of environment, its life force was incredibly resilient.

Moreover, both sides had been using fire-attribute energy in battle. The beast itself had a high resistance to fire, so it wasn’t strange that it was still alive.

In the original story, this creature had even managed to survive against Medusa more than a year later.

And who was Medusa?

She was a peak Dou Huang!

Perhaps she had been too focused on the Heavenly Flame at the time and didn’t pay enough attention to the Two-Headed Flame Spirit Serpent.

But even so, the fact that it had managed to survive an ambush on Medusa was proof of its abilities.

Otherwise, if it had been at full strength, it wouldn’t have allowed Xiao Yan to sneak into the depths of the magma and take the Green Colored Lotus Platform so easily.

Even with Yao Lao possessing him, a full-fledged battle would have left Yao Lao’s already weakened soul in a terrible state.

These thoughts flashed through Wei Yang’s mind as he moved, appearing above the serpent’s neck in an instant. He gathered Dou Qi into his palm and grasped the creature firmly at its ”seven-inch” weak spot.

Then, with a flap of his black wings, he lifted its massive body out of the magma, suspending it mid-air.

Sensing its gaze on him, Wei Yang looked down and met its four slightly open, weak but still fierce serpent eyes.

”Defiant, huh? Good. Let’s see how long you can keep this up,” Wei Yang chuckled.

Flapping his black wings, he carried its massive body toward Xian’er’s location. With a wave of his hand, arcs of Dou Qi slashed through the nearby rock walls, carving out a spacious platform.

Then, he casually tossed the serpent down.

Boom! Boom!

The upper half of the Two-Headed Flame Spirit Serpent crashed heavily onto the platform, its limp heads hitting the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust.

The other half of its body and its tail plunged back into the magma, causing two massive waves of molten rock to splash outward.

At this moment, Ye Xian’er gracefully landed beside Wei Yang, instinctively reaching for his hand.

She glanced at the gruesome and menacing yet still intimidating Fire Spirit Serpent. Her brows furrowed slightly, and she unconsciously took two small steps back.

For a girl, no matter how brave she was, there would always be some instinctual discomfort toward serpents.

”Brother Yang, is it dead?” Ye Xian’er asked.

”Not yet. The Two-Headed Flame Spirit Serpent has strong vitality, especially in this environment,” Wei Yang chuckled and lifted his foot, casually kicking one of its heads.

The Two-Headed Flame Spirit Serpent slowly opened its eyes again. Its four crimson serpent pupils, filled with defiance and hatred, locked onto Wei Yang. However, deep within them, there was also a faint trace of hidden fear.

Magical beasts followed the law of the jungle—survival of the fittest.

If you were stronger and defeated them, they would fear you. If you completely subdued them, they might even submit to you.

”So, should we kill it now?” Ye Xian’er asked.

The Two-Headed Flame Spirit Serpent seemed to understand her words. Its diamond-shaped pupils shrank, and its eyes widened slightly.

”No.” Wei Yang shook his head. ”The Heavenly Flame we’re looking for is deep within this magma lake, but who knows how vast or how deep it truly is? Not to mention, there are chaotic currents beneath the surface. If I go searching on my own, it’ll be extremely troublesome—like finding a needle in a haystack.”

As he spoke, Wei Yang locked eyes with the Two-Headed Flame Spirit Serpent. ”This creature definitely knows where the Heavenly Flame is. If it’s willing to guide us, we’ll be able to find it much more easily.”

The two stared at each other for a few moments. The serpent’s four eyes then closed again, flashing with a hint of defiance. Clearly, it had no intention of submitting and leading the way.

”Unbelievable! Brother Yang already beat it into such a miserable state, and it still refuses to submit?” Ye Xian’er huffed, visibly upset.

In her heart, anything concerning Brother Yang was the most important thing. Besides, this Two-Headed Flame Spirit Serpent had just injured Brother Yang moments ago...

The little girl bore grudges.

So now, seeing the creature’s stubborn attitude, Xian’er was genuinely angry.

Wei Yang chuckled. ”Xian’er, since it refuses to submit, this is where you come in. Poison it! Don’t kill it—just torment it until it’s willing to obey and lead the way.”

”Okay!” Ye Xian’er nodded eagerly, rubbing her hands together, looking excited.

Her bright eyes gleamed as she studied the Two-Headed Flame Spirit Serpent, already contemplating which poison would be most effective.

Sensing the thick malice radiating from both of them, the Two-Headed Flame Spirit Serpent felt an icy chill creep into its heart. It instinctively opened its eyes wider, its four pupils brimming with vigilance.

”I got it! Let’s try this.”

After a moment, Ye Xian’er clapped her hands and walked aside. She retrieved several bottles and jars from her storage ring and squatted down to start mixing.

When it came to poison, she was an expert.

Wei Yang chuckled at the sight and gave the Two-Headed Flame Spirit Serpent a look of pity before ignoring it entirely. He then sat cross-legged and began restoring his energy.

Some time passed.

Ye Xian’er returned, carrying several jade bottles in her hands. Wei Yang opened his eyes just in time.

”Brother Yang, it’s ready! I’ve prepared several different poisons—none of them are fatal, but they’ll make it suffer terribly,” Ye Xian’er said confidently, shaking the bottles in her hand. ”I hope it holds out long enough so I can test them all, one by one.”

Wei Yang couldn’t help but laugh.

Meanwhile, the Two-Headed Flame Spirit Serpent’s four eyes visibly flickered with fear.

”Hmm... let’s start with this one.” Ye Xian’er glanced at the bottles, thought for a moment, and picked one.

The Two-Headed Flame Spirit Serpent attempted to struggle, but unfortunately, it had no strength left.

It could only watch helplessly as Ye Xian’er opened the jade bottle, pouring out a pale green liquid with a faintly strange scent...

The liquid dripped onto one of its wounds, slowly seeping into its body.

Wei Yang and Ye Xian’er both watched curiously.

The serpent’s four eyes stared back at them.

Eight eyes met in silence.

Then, before long, the Two-Headed Flame Spirit Serpent reacted...
