Ruling Martial World by Infinite Insect Swarms

Chapter 98: Chapter 96: The Slaughter Between the Insect Swarm and the 3 Immortal Mountains, the Flood Dragon Emerges from the Water

Three Immortals Mountain.

Temple Square, where countless Demon Fiends were entrenched.

”Third Brother is in trouble!”

The Mountain-Splitting Demon King’s voice was deep, filled with fury and a faint, almost imperceptible trace of panic.

In terms of strength, it was undoubtedly the strongest of the three Demon Kings.

It was at the Late Stage Sea of Qi Realm.

Breaking through to the Qi Sea Realm required connecting to the Bridge of Heaven and Earth by opening the Nine Qi Meridians within one’s body. Opening three meridians was considered the Early Stage Sea of Qi Realm, three to six was the Middle Stage, and seven to nine was the Late Stage.

It had opened all Nine Qi Meridians.

It possessed peak combat power within the Qi Sea Realm, which was why it led the Three Immortals Mountain.

However, it could only defeat the other two.

Although the Red Feather Demon King was only at the Middle Stage Sea of Qi Realm, it possessed a trace of Golden Crow Bloodline. If it fought to the death and spat out its True Sun Fire, even the Mountain-Splitting Demon King couldn’t block it.

Moreover, the Red Feather Demon King was a Flying Demon Fiend, and its speed far surpassed the other two Demon Kings.

If the Red Feather Demon King wanted to leave, the Mountain-Splitting Demon King couldn’t stop it.

This was also why it had sent the Red Feather Demon King on this trip in the first place.

But the Red Feather Demon King had been gone for a full day now.

At its speed, it could have made the round trip ten times over.

The only possibility was that something had happened to the Red Feather Demon King—or rather, that it was dead!

It had died inexplicably, without the slightest warning.

”Third Brother is likely just injured and looking for a place to recuperate. That’s why he hasn’t returned. Immediately gather all our subordinate Demon Fiends! This visitor is hostile!”

Just as the situation was looking grim and strange expressions began to appear on the faces of some Demon Fiends in the square, the Seven-Colored Spirit Deer’s ethereal voice rang out, calming the slight unrest.

Rule among Demon Fiends relied on one thing: absolute strength.

Once the lesser Demon Fiends sensed that their leaders were far weaker than the enemy, they would either scatter and flee or betray them on the spot!

There were no concepts of benevolence or morality among them.

”That’s right! With Third Brother’s speed, no one could possibly kill him. He was most likely just caught off guard and injured. Pass down my order! Immediately gather all our forces.

We will slaughter the invaders!”

The Mountain-Splitting Demon King immediately caught on, glanced at the Seven-Colored Spirit Deer, and let out a low roar.

But what frustrated it was that, even now, aside from some intelligence from the old Mountain Demon, it didn’t even know who its opponent was!

’But am I just going to hand over a century’s worth of work just like that? Impossible!’

This world was vast, but places where two Qi Sea Realm Great Demons could cultivate and indulge themselves freely were few and far between.

Leaving Three Immortals Mountain meant they would have to fight other Demon Fiends and compete for territory.

’That is something I absolutely cannot tolerate.’

”Send out scouts immediately! I want to know who is secretly coveting my Three Immortals Mountain!”

”Yes!”

A wave of roars and shrieks erupted from the square as a dozen or so Flying Demon Fiends took off, with several Fire Crows being the most eager among them.

But soon, a Flying Demon Fiend flew back, covered in blood, to deliver a report.

”Great King, a large number of foreign, eagle-like Demon Fiends covered in sharp Bone Spikes have appeared around our Three Immortals Mountain! There are a huge number of them, and they can spit a kind of triangular Flying Snake attack from their mouths.

And there’s also a type of Qi and Blood Realm Peng Demon wreathed in lightning, and their strength is immense...”

Instantly, the entire Temple Square erupted in an uproar!

They... they were actually surrounded by a group of foreign invaders!

In a fit of rage, a terrifying pressure radiated from the Mountain-Splitting Demon King’s body, like a gale-force wind that forced all the surrounding Demon Fiends to their knees.

BOOM!

Stomping on the ground, the colossal Mountain-Splitting Demon King rose into the air out of nowhere, enveloped in a cloud of earthy-yellow light, and then shot directly in the direction the Flying Demon Fiend had indicated.

A harsh glint flashed in the Seven-Colored Spirit Deer’s eyes as a howling wind enveloped it, and it began to gallop through the air.

Qi Sea Realm Great Demons could already control the Heaven and Earth Primordial Qi.

They didn’t need wings to fly.

Soon.

The Mountain-Splitting Demon King spotted a squad of Black Thorn Eagles on the distant horizon. The moment the Black Thorn Eagles saw the Demon King, they turned to flee without the slightest hesitation.

But it was too late.

The Mountain-Splitting Demon King roared, its speed suddenly exploding as it condensed over a dozen rock spikes and instantly launched them, killing two of the Black Thorn Eagles.

The airflow surrounding the Seven-Colored Spirit Deer transformed into Wind Blades, shredding the other three Black Thorn Eagles that had fled farther away.

But the two Demon Kings felt no pride in their victory; instead, their expressions grew even grimmer.

With their sharp eyesight, they could easily see several more small squads of Black Thorn Eagles in the far distance, blatantly monitoring the entire Three Immortals Mountain.

”ROAR—”

The Mountain-Splitting Demon King’s voice thundered with rage.

”Gather all the Flying Demon Fiends! Slaughter every last one of these invaders!”

”Leave none alive!”

Three Immortals Mountain was not like the Mountain Demon tribe; it also had a vast number of Flying Demon Fiends, including many Great Demons at the Qi and Blood Realm, their numbers in the hundreds.

With that said, the Mountain-Splitting Demon King was about to charge forward and kill the Black Thorn Eagles fleeing in the farther distance.

”Big Brother, don’t be reckless! First, gather our subordinates. Then, we can launch a direct attack and kill the one pulling the strings. These are just Little Demons on reconnaissance; there’s no need for you to act personally.”

Seeing this, the Seven-Colored Spirit Deer immediately moved forward, using a sweeping gust of wind to pull the Mountain-Splitting Demon King back.

”These are just some Little Demons at the Bone Shattering Realm. Killing more of them is pointless!”

”Fine! Then we’ll gather all our forces and charge straight in for the kill!”

...

「Shegu Mountain Range, inside the Insect Nest Base.」

Watching through the Insect Swarm’s Mind Network as the two remaining Demon Kings of Three Immortals Mountain began to move, their Flying Demon Fiends engaging in bloody slaughter across the sky, Qin Yu gave a cold laugh.

Within a several-hundred-kilometer radius centered on Three Immortals Mountain, hundreds of skirmishes had erupted in an instant.

Black Thorn Eagles died, and native Demon Fiends fell.

Since he hadn’t deployed too many Thunder Rocs, the Insect Swarm didn’t hold a significant advantage overall, and both sides suffered brutal casualties.

But this was all part of his deliberate plan.

’A war of attrition with the Insect Swarm? How naive.’

When a batch of the Insect Swarm died, as long as he had Energy, he could instantly produce another batch.

It was a negligible loss.

But when a Demon Fiend died, it was truly dead.

Furthermore, the more brutal the fighting, the more likely the Insect Swarm units were to devour flesh and blood in battle and complete their evolution!

In just a single day, after losing over three hundred Black Thorn Eagles, twenty-seven of them had achieved a breakthrough to the stronger Qi and Blood Realm.

And two had even evolved!

One had survived being burned by Flame, and its flame resistance had increased dramatically.

The other had devoured its opponent’s flesh and blood after a fierce battle and had actually grown a second pair of wings, its body becoming even larger!

A Four-winged Black Thorn Eagle!

Its strength had also leaped directly to the Qi and Blood Like a Tiger realm.

The slaughter in the sky was brutal, and skirmishes had also begun on the ground—similarly small-scale engagements.

’Before the main battle, I’ll let you bleed a little! And while I’m at it, I’ll let the Insect Swarm evolve through combat. Trying to gather your forces for a decisive battle with the Swarm? Too naive.’

Qin Yu was in no hurry.

Once he had dispatched his reconnaissance units on a massive scale, the entire Cang Mang Mountain Range was completely under the Insect Swarm’s control.

Aside from the initial clashes, the subsequent battles were completely under his control. How could a group of Demon Fiends that fought on instinct and communicated entirely through roars possibly contend with the Insect Swarm, which had the Mind Network and the Insect Nest commanding the battlefield?

He was merely deliberately maintaining the illusion of a stalemate.

After discovering the Demon Pill inside the Red Feather Demon King’s body, he had no intention of letting a single one of these Qi Sea Realm Demon Fiends escape. They were all future high-level units for the Insect Swarm.

’What if I scare them off by attacking too fiercely from the start?’

’These Demon Fiends are so much easier to deal with! Fighting human factions is much more troublesome. Every one of them has a background and powerful backers. It’s always a case of ”hit the young one, and the old one shows up.”’

Sensing the countless skirmishes through the Swarm’s network, a smile touched the corners of Qin Yu’s lips.

This was one of the reasons why, despite his already astonishing strength, he still had no intention of leaving the mountains and heading to Bishui City.

’Demon Fiends don’t have powerful backers! I can kill them however I please.’

With his tens of thousands of Insect Swarm combat units, he could easily steamroll the forces in Bishui City, including that one Qi Sea Realm expert from the Demon Suppression Bureau!

But he couldn’t!

Just look at the Blood Demon Sect. It was an astonishingly powerful Evil Demon Sect with influence throughout the Great Wei Court, yet it still operated in secret, not daring to reveal itself.

If he truly dared to jump out and make a scene, stronger experts at the Primordial Mansion Realm, or even a True Monarch of Myriad Phenomena, would soon emerge to slaughter his Insect Swarm to the last.

This was the drawback of the Insect Swarm.

Tens of thousands of Swarm units charging out would look like nothing less than a Demon Fiend city siege in the eyes of others!

Therefore, until he had developed his forces and possessed sufficient strength, Qin Yu didn’t plan on being too conspicuous in the human world.

’Being a Ten-Mile Slope Sword God is perfectly fine.’

’With the Insect Swarm harassing them, it won’t be easy for Three Immortals Mountain to gather all its subordinates. I can at least delay them for a few days and kill off a large number of them in the process. It will also give me time to wait for the Insect Swarm’s own Qi Sea Realm combatants to be born!’

Qin Yu processed the countless streams of information coming from the battlefield. He didn’t like to take extreme risks; he preferred the steady approach of keeping everything under his control.

’Sudden power-ups? Breaking through in a life-or-death battle? The risks are too great!’

However, eight or nine times out of ten, things in this world don’t go as planned.

Qin Yu wanted to be more cautious and not rush to make a move against the Flood Dragon and the two remaining Demon Kings of Three Immortals Mountain.

But the Flood Dragon at the bottom of the lake had started to move.

Once its injuries had partially recovered and the massive gash on its abdomen was no longer bleeding, the Flood Dragon coiled in the depths of its lakeside ’Dragon Palace’ let out a roar.

Then, it shot toward the sky!

The hundred-meter Flood Dragon took to the air, wreathed in clouds and mist.

Its target was none other than the Mountain Demon Forest.

When it was injured, it had ordered its subordinates to go to the Mountain Demon Forest to demand some Hundred Fruit Brew to help it recover, but that bunch of Mountain Demons had actually dared to refuse?

”They’re simply courting death!”
