Ruling Martial World by Infinite Insect Swarms

Chapter 88: Chapter 86: Selling the Black Thorn Eagle?

In a secret chamber of a lavish mansion in the eastern district of Bishui City.

”What’s the situation with this Qin Family from Cyan Peak County? The Holy Sect has lost people there twice in a row. It’s not surprising that Li Tianyi was killed by Li Wanqing and her men.

But then Inspector Liu also mysteriously perished there.”

An old man in ornate robes had a grim expression.

Li Tianyi’s death could be chalked up to an accident. After all, no one could have predicted Li Wanqing’s sudden appearance, and it’s normal for a disciple of a Demon Suppression General to have a few tricks up her sleeve.

But for Inspector Liu, who was sent to investigate, to also perish... that was highly unusual.

”It’s almost certainly related to this Qin Family! A remote place like Cyan Peak County doesn’t even have a single Qi and Blood Martial Artist. With Inspector Liu’s strength, he should have been able to sweep through it with ease.

The only exception is this Qin Family that popped up out of nowhere!

Hmph!

Thirty Qi and Blood Realm War Beasts... That kind of power isn’t something a small, remote family can possess.

It seems our luck was just bad. We’ve run into the hidden power of the ’Celestial Wind’ Qin Family.”

Across from the old man, a lean middle-aged man snorted coldly.

The two fell silent.

They were well aware of the Holy Sect’s procedures. When an elite member died, a secret investigation was always launched. Their spies in Cyan Peak County had reported that Inspector Liu disappeared on his way to the Qin Family’s residence.

Combine that with the fact that Inspector Liu’s Soul Lamp was suddenly extinguished.

Afterward, all their spies lost contact, and the entirety of Cyan Peak County went dark. And then, the Qin Family made their high-profile appearance.

It was obvious where the problem lay, no guessing required.

No family other than the Qin Family could possibly possess this kind of strength!

”The Qin Family’s appearance has already affected our plans! Should we send someone back to Cyan Peak County to probe them? We also need to send someone to contact that ’Flood Dragon’ in the Wilderness Mountain Range.

It is the key to influencing that personage in the Bishui River.

To break the seal, we need the power of the Bishui River’s Dragon Race.”

The lean, middle-aged man’s gaze was calm.

Losing two Elites whose Qi and Blood were like a Dragon’s was indeed a great blow to the Blood Demon Sect’s strength, but it was nothing compared to their grand plan.

”Probe them in Cyan Peak County? No need for such trouble. Isn’t that Qin Hu already in Bishui City? He’s been selling off precious medicinal herbs at the Treasure Pavilion for a massive fortune. We just need to leak the news.

Exaggerate the story a bit.

Someone is bound to get greedy and make a move.”

The ornate-robed old man sneered.

”As for that Flood Dragon, he’s the Bishui River Dragon King’s only living illegitimate son. Of course we must take him seriously! Send ’Xuan Nine Squad’ over. He can’t be allowed to die yet!”

”Then it’s settled. Everything must make way for the Holy Sect’s plan. If this insignificant Qin Family dares to obstruct us, we’ll simply crush them as we go!”

...

”Uncle, I’ll leave two of my men here. It will be more convenient for you to handle matters in the city. Both the Lin Family and the Demon Suppression Bureau will provide as much assistance as possible.

Brother Qin Yu saved my life. If you need anything, please don’t hesitate to come find me!”

Lin Jianqing waved his hand, and two guards in black stepped forward from behind him. They bowed with cupped fists to Qin Hu, then moved to one side and stood there silently.

”Then many thanks, Nephew Lin.”

Qin Hu cupped his fists and smiled.

”In that case, that’s perfect. As it happens, I have a favor to ask, just to avoid any misunderstandings.”

”Oh? What is it? Please, Uncle, just say the word. If I can help, I will not hesitate!”

Lin Jianqing’s eyes lit up.

He had never liked being indebted to others, but Qin Yu had saved him during the battle in Snake Valley. In fact, the only reason anyone from the Demon Suppression Bureau survived was because Qin Yu had intervened.

Naturally, it would be best if he could repay that favor.

”It’s nothing major. As you know, my Qin Family is skilled in Beast Taming. I’ve had a Black Thorn Eagle bring some things over, and I was originally planning to retrieve them from outside the city.

If it’s convenient, would it be possible for the Black Thorn Eagle to deliver them directly?”

Qin Hu waved his hand dismissively.

It wasn’t a huge deal, but it wasn’t trivial either.

If the Demon Suppression Bureau gave permission, letting a Black Thorn Eagle enter the city was a small matter. But if he didn’t give them a heads-up and it got shot down, he could only blame his bad luck.

A place like Bishui City was certainly not lacking in Divine Archers.

Although the Black Thorn Eagle was quite strong, its power was only comparable to that of a Bone Forging Realm Martial Artist.

Being able to fly directly into the city would make things much more convenient.

”A Black Thorn Eagle?”

Lin Jianqing’s mind instantly recalled the bird of prey that had descended from the sky to carry him away—it had a wingspan of over twenty feet, a body similar to an eagle’s but far more robust, and was covered in sharp thorns.

’So that bird of prey is called a Black Thorn Eagle!’

”Of course. I just need to make a few arrangements and register it.”

Lin Jianqing said with a smile.

”That thing’s a real treasure. Mr. Zhao has been talking about it nonstop since he got back. I wonder, Uncle, would you be willing to sell any? The Demon Suppression Bureau is prepared to pay a high price to purchase a batch!”

’With Black Thorn Eagles, the efficiency of the Bureau’s members would increase by more than tenfold!’

’The problem of our manpower shortage would be greatly alleviated.’

’If an emergency occurred, we could provide timely reinforcements.’

’We could even form a flying unit of Divine Archers. The deterrent force would be absolutely astonishing.’

’The benefits from every angle are just too great.’

”Then many thanks!”

Qin Hu was overjoyed. If the Black Thorn Eagles could come and go freely, his trips between the two locations would be far less troublesome. Making a round trip between Cyan Peak County and Bishui City in a single day would be a breeze.

”Sell the Black Thorn Eagles? I haven’t really considered it. They aren’t easy to raise, and their temperament is quite stubborn...”

The tail of the Shadow Scale Snake on his wrist trembled gently, giving Qin Hu his answer.

”That’s a given! Birds of prey like the Black Thorn Eagle are difficult to raise, but the Demon Suppression Bureau absolutely will not let you take a loss, Uncle! How about ten thousand silver taels apiece?

Or you can name your price, Uncle!”

Seeing that Qin Hu didn’t refuse outright, Lin Jianqing instantly understood—the matter was negotiable!

’When it came to financial might, who could possibly compare to the Demon Suppression Bureau?’

’Price was never an issue.’

”Nephew Lin, if I were to sell these Black Thorn Eagles, would they be for the Lin Family, or for the Demon Suppression Bureau...?”

”For the Demon Suppression Bureau, of course!” 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ

...

「Shegu Mountain Range.」

A flicker of interest flashed in Qin Yu’s eyes. He knew flying units like the Black Thorn Eagles were extremely valuable, but he hadn’t expected a power like the Demon Suppression Bureau to covet them so much.

’Doesn’t the Demon Suppression Bureau have the ability to raise their own?’

Of course, that wasn’t the case.

Beast Control and Beast Taming were hardly rare Secret Techniques. The Demon Suppression Bureau naturally had plenty of them. However, possessing the techniques was one thing; actually raising the beasts was another matter entirely.

Beast Taming Techniques are divided into two types. One is to raise a beast from a young age, supplementing its growth with various Secret Techniques, Treasure Medicines, and so on to strengthen it, creating a systematic cultivation process.

Sects like the Spiritual Snake Sect and the Five Poison Sect mostly used this method.

But the cost of raising a single War Beast this way is extremely high, and it’s also incredibly time-consuming.

It often takes a decade at a minimum.

The other method is forced enslavement, but that’s even more difficult!

Unless one’s strength reaches a certain level, allowing them to brand the beast with their Divine Sense, or if they use certain special Magical Treasures for control, naturally proud Demon Fiends like eagles and hawks would rather die than submit.

Forget Demon Fiends; even taming ordinary birds is extremely difficult.

Someone like Li Wanqing can instantly control ordinary snakes with her Spiritual Pupils, but she would find it very difficult to control snake-type Demon Fiends. Forcibly controlling them would also consume a massive amount of her Divine Thought.

To use one’s Divine Sense to cast an enslavement Secret Technique, one would need to be at least an expert at the Qi Sea Realm, or perhaps even a mighty figure at the Primordial Mansion Realm.

Why would an expert of that caliber even bother with a few Bone Forging Realm Black Thorn Eagles?

’Ten thousand silver taels for a single Black Thorn Eagle? This business is absurdly profitable!’

Qin Yu looked at the hundreds of Black Thorn Eagles taking flight in the sky, a smile forming on his lips. Breeding a single Black Thorn Eagle only cost him 200 points of Energy.

’How much money is that little bit of Energy even worth?’

’The profit margin is more than a thousandfold!’

’Even if I sell the Black Thorn Eagles, the true control over them will remain in my hands!’

’This is equivalent to having the Demon Suppression Bureau raise my Insect Swarm for me.’

’Through the Black Thorn Eagles’ eyes, I can even gather intelligence from the Demon Suppression Bureau. After all, who would be on guard against a Black Thorn Eagle while on a mission?’

’I’d be gaining resources, gathering intelligence, and even making the Demon Suppression Bureau owe me a favor!’

’This is definitely a case of killing multiple birds with one stone.’

The Qin Family was gradually stepping into the public eye. The benefits of building a good relationship with an official organization like the Demon Suppression Bureau were self-evident.

’And not just the Demon Suppression Bureau.’

’I can sell to other families and powers too!’

’This is a ready-made intelligence network.’

’There are benefits, but there are risks as well. To be on the safe side, perhaps I can implant Gu Insects inside the Black Thorn Eagles to prevent any accidents!’
