Chapter 1755: Chapter 1789: Tricked by Beiming Lan

”Well, I don’t know. It depends on your performance. You can’t just kneel for a few seconds and then stand up. That wouldn’t be sincere. Besides, when you kneel and bow to your ancestors, it’s not just a few seconds, right? So, you just keep kneeling. My sister is a softhearted woman; she’ll definitely come out. Okay, I’ve said so much. What happens next is up to you. Whether you can win my sister’s heart depends on how you perform.” Finishing her words.

The girl turned around and left, while Hai Zhilan stood there dumbfounded, motionless. However, soon, his eyes lit up, and he quickly kneeled down.

”Damn it! If I have to kneel, so be it. It’s probably better than not kneeling. Who knows, maybe Beiming Huang really is a softhearted woman, and if she softens, I might have a chance?” Thinking this, Hai Zhilan felt more invigorated the longer he knelt.

...

”Pff—This idiot actually knelt down. Hmph, if you like my sister that much, don’t you know what kind of person she is? Haven’t you investigated thoroughly?”

Beiming Lan giggled, her face flushed red, looking triumphant.

”Lanlan, did you really make him keep kneeling?” At this moment, Beiming Huang walked over. She had heard clearly what Beiming Lan had said to Hai Zhilan just now.

”Hmm! Are you feeling sorry for him? Sure, just pretend my words were nonsense. Go ahead, bring him into our family. After all, it’s your personal matter; it’s got nothing to do with me.”

Beiming Lan pouted, showing an indifferent attitude. It had nothing to do with her anyway; she was just bored.

”Are you... Are you trying to set me up? Is this how a sister should act?” Beiming Huang rolled her eyes at her in exasperation.

Yet, thinking of Hai Zhilan’s recent actions and his character, she felt repulsed and didn’t want to go out. She was certainly not going to accept someone like him.

”Whatever. I’ve helped as much as I can. Whether you go or not is up to you.”

The girl finished speaking, tossed her head, and left her sister’s sight.

”You...”

Beiming Huang felt frustrated to the core. But she only ran out to glance at Hai Zhilan kneeling before returning into the house and ignored him, knowing what kind of character Hai Zhilan had — likely to leave after a while.

However, she miscalculated this time.

And Hai Zhilan, possessed by who knows what, really kept kneeling for two hours. These two hours felt like ages to him!

Two hours passed, but Beiming Huang didn’t even come out to see him once. In the third hour, he began to worry. Was that damned girl deceiving him?

No way! I’ve already been kneeling for three hours; I might as well kneel for one more!

So, under self-imposed pressure, he persisted for another two hours.

A full five hours, Hai Zhilan felt dizzy from kneeling, itching to get up and find Beiming Lan to slap her a few times.

”Family Head, are you going to keep kneeling? You’ve been at it for five hours already.”

The Hai family members were already uncomfortable watching. This Beiming family was too good at tormenting people. Five hours already, most would have lost patience by now. And today, the Hai family head had been kneeling at Beiming Mansion for five hours; for anyone else, persistence could be difficult...

”No way! I’ve been kneeling for so long already; what’s the harm in a bit more? Maybe she’ll come out soon, and if she sees me get up, wouldn’t all my kneeling be in vain?”

This time, Hai Zhilan was determined, having knelt for five hours, with both legs numb and unfeeling.

The Hai family saw they couldn’t persuade him, so they stopped trying.

”Tch, this stubborn guy is really persistent. Kneeling for five hours. I’ve even taken a nap, and he’s still there kneeling. What endurance!” Beiming Lan sat on a small stool on the rooftop watching where Hai Zhilan knelt, nibbling sunflower seeds and sipping a drink.

”Is it appropriate to treat him like this?” Beiming Huang still felt it was unreliable; if he continued kneeling, Hai Zhilan might really cripple himself in the end.

”Then go ahead, go down, help him up, and say ’darling!’ I guarantee he’ll feel his five hours of kneeling is worthwhile.” Beiming Lan pouted, spat out the sunflower seed shell, and said indifferently.

”You...”

Beiming Huang’s nose flared, stomping in annoyance: ”Lanlan, how could you do this?”

”I’m doing this for your own good. This kind of person — he’s neither good nor outright evil. So, I’m using this method first to test his love for you, and second, to assess his status in your heart. The more you pity him and want him to stand, the more you care about him. It’s like flipping a coin; the moment you throw it, you already know the result, hoping a certain side doesn’t appear — your heart already knows what you want.”

”I...”

Beiming Huang wanted to speak but stopped. After listening to her sister, she really felt a bit ashamed.

”Okay, you go ahead and play. I’m off to read.”

”Alright then. I’ll keep playing with him.” Beiming Lan flicked her little tongue and continued playing.

And Beiming Huang didn’t express any further opinions, allowing Hai Zhilan to keep kneeling.

Soon, six hours passed. This time, Hai Zhilan finally felt unable to continue. The prolonged lack of blood circulation made his legs feel utterly useless, unable to move.

”Family Head, you shouldn’t keep kneeling. If you do, I’m afraid...”

Those around him showed concern.

”It’s, it’s okay. I, I can hold on a bit longer~”

At present, after kneeling for six hours, Hai Zhilan was still defiant. Maybe a miracle would happen in the next moment, who knows? Kneeling for six hours — what if in just a few more seconds, Beiming Huang appeared at that moment?

”I can’t do it! I can’t do it! My legs have no feeling whatsoever. If I continue kneeling, I fear I’ll end up crippling both legs before even winning her over. Damned Beiming Lan, you put me in this ridiculous situation; now I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place. I can’t stand, nor can I kneel. Why is my life so tough?

Ahhhhh!!!! Anger indeed! Is that damned Beiming Lan deliberately deceiving me?

The more he thought, the more anxious his heart grew. Knowing the pain of prolonged kneeling, it felt even more excruciating as time dragged on. His thoughts became increasingly complex.

Too painful!
