Chapter 1724: Chapter 1758: Destiny Is in My Hands

”Brother! I truly have no ill intentions of contending with you for the position of Family Head. I only hope that my sister and I can stay in the family forever, is that okay? Brother! We are brothers!”

Hai Zhilan’s eyes glistened with tears. For his own interests, he had no choice but to put on a pitiful and ingratiating appearance.

Although Hai Wuyan was proud and arrogant, he wasn’t inherently a bad person. If you were to say which of the two brothers was more ruthless, it would probably be the seemingly carefree Hai Zhilan who was much more malicious.

”That’s right. You two are brothers, Wuyan, no matter what, you both share the same root, and besides, the position of the Family Head is yours. Zhilan won’t threaten you.”

At this moment, Hai Wuyan kept drinking and contemplating, not speaking for a long time, causing Hai Yushui to start worrying, as his daughter was very fond of Hai Zhilan.

If Hai Wuyan really kicked Hai Zhilan out of the family, wouldn’t his daughter be heartbroken then?

For the sake of his daughter, no matter what, he had to keep Hai Zhilan in the family.

”Brother! I can write a pledge to prove it! Within the family, I will absolutely not participate in anything related to the auction. I only wish to grow old and die in the family, as this is the place that gave birth to and nurtured me.”

Faced with Hai Zhilan’s endless weeping and Elder Hai Yushui’s incessant pleading, Hai Wuyan’s heart softened.

The saying goes: they are born of the same root, why must they harm each other in haste?

”Since Elder Yushui is pleading on your behalf, what more can I say? But Zhilan, I must remind you, if you want to continue staying in the Hai Family, you must avoid where I am. You cannot participate in any of the Hai Family’s matters, big or small, nor can you express any opinions.

You will remain the same as you always have been, leading your usual life. No matter how profligate or wanton you are in the future, that’s your business. Continue with your life as before. I won’t interfere with your matters, just don’t be an eyesore to me.”

”Yes, yes, Zhilan will definitely follow through. I won’t cause any trouble for Brother.” Hai Zhilan was inexplicably touched; it seemed his brother had a humane side, allowing him to continue his carefree and indulgent lifestyle, just as long as he stayed out of sight and out of family matters. It was rather merciful.

”Haha... I’m pleased to see you brothers finally talking things out today. As an elder of our clan, I’m happier than if I had eaten anything. Come, you two brothers should share a drink and turn hostility into friendship.” As he spoke, Hai Yushui stood up, winking at Hai Zhilan, who eagerly went forward to fill Hai Wuyan’s cup with wine, which greatly delighted Hai Wuyan.

”I’ll also toast Brother Hai.” At this moment, Hai Chenxing, who was beside Hai Zhilan, stood up.

To be honest, before Hai Chenxing even toasted, Hai Wuyan already felt nauseous at the sight of her offering.

”Uh, alright, I’ll share a drink with Sister Xing.” Hai Wuyan, with a sullen face, toasted her.

But after a few drinks, Hai Wuyan started feeling dizzy and disoriented.

Surprisingly, stars began to appear before his eyes.

”Could it be that I can’t hold my liquor?”

Hai Wuyan tried hard to shake his head, but after shaking, the dizziness only worsened.

Soon, he felt his whole body paralyzed, unable to muster the strength to lift his hand. Before long, Elder Hai Yushui also found his arms totally limp.

Later, Hai Chenxing too murmured something and then collapsed onto the table, asleep.

”What’s going on? Just a bit of wine to make people dizzy?”

Hai Zhilan suddenly slumped onto the table and fell asleep as well.

”Why does this wine have such a powerful punch?” Hai Yushui swayed before collapsing onto the table. In the end, Hai Wuyan, eyes wide open, seemed to grok an ominous sensation, then wobbled and slumped onto the table, remaining there for a long time without getting up.

At this moment, Hai Zhilan, who had pretended to fall asleep, slowly got up from the table.

Cautiously, he nudged Hai Chenxing, who was next to him, with his arm.

”Sister Xing, are you alright? Have you gotten drunk from this little drink?”

After a few nudges and realizing that Hai Chenxing was completely unresponsive, he moved to nudge Hai Yushui, finding that he wasn’t making much of a move, merely blinking his sleepy eyes.

Then, he moved to nudge his brother, Hai Wuyan.

Hai Wuyan was asleep.

”Zhilan, why do I feel utterly weak?” At this moment, Hai Yushui was desperately trying to use Power to force the effects of the wine out. No matter how he tried, the results were minimal.

His whole body was numb, unable to muster any strength.

He could only watch helplessly as Hai Zhilan moved around lively.

”Elder Yushui, I’m not sure whether I should tell you something now.”

Hai Zhilan stood up, the cold sweat on his forehead intensifying, his heart beating rapidly.

”Zhilan, what on earth is it? Why not mention it earlier?”

Hai Yushui seemed to have sensed something.

”Elder Yushui, I know you’ve always treated me well since childhood, but there are some matters I’m caught in a bind with, and for my sake, I can only sacrifice you.”

”Zhilan, what exactly are you saying?”

Hai Yushui struggled to move but could only sway slightly before becoming powerless and slumping back down, with only his eyes capable of turning.

Now, Hai Zhilan no longer needed to feign. He directly tore off the mask outside his true nature.

”Elder Yushui, haven’t you always loved me? Now Zhilan has encountered great trouble, and if you cannot help me, I’m afraid my whole life will be ruined.”

”Zhilan, we can talk this out. Don’t get too excited. Is someone forcing you? Tell me everything, and I believe, with our family’s background, we can surely help you.”

”No! Nobody can help me, only I can help myself. Our fate is in our own hands. If I don’t fight for it, I don’t think I’ll accomplish anything in my life.”

”Zhilan, what’s going on with you? Do you not even trust me?” Hai Yushui noticed his extreme agitation, sweat beading densely on his forehead, his eyes filled with panic.

”Don’t talk nonsense with me. I only believe that destiny is in my own hands. Whatever I want to do, even God will help me.” Hai Zhilan glanced at Hai Chenxing beside him.

Then, like a vicious wolf, he aggressively rushed towards Hai Chenxing.

”No! Don’t!”

Hai Yushui seemed to realize something, mustering all his strength to try to stop him, but ended up being slapped to the ground by Hai Zhilan.

Right in front of him, he placed his daughter on the table, his hands squeezing Hai Chenxing’s neck tightly.

Squeezing as his eyes filled with savage ferocity. Grinning viciously, he said, ”Only if you all die will I have a future, only then will my fate change.”

”No! Don’t! Zhilan, what’s wrong with you? Zhilan, she is the one who likes you, you can’t treat her this way. If you want to kill, then kill me. Zhilan, you can’t do this!”

Watching his daughter being strangled to death by Hai Zhilan, Hai Yushui felt his heart being torn apart, eyes filled with an endless fiery red; given the chance, he would’ve gladly exchanged his life.

”Die! Die! Die! Only if you die will I have a future, my future would then have more Brightness! Haha... haha!”

Thinking of the future, Hai Zhilan’s laughter grew grimmer, his psyche turning extremely twisted.

After finishing with the strangling, he drew a small knife from his waist, quickly stepped forward, grabbed Elder Hai Yushui by the collar, and plunged the cold blade fiercely into the elder’s chest, immediately causing blood to gush out.
