Chapter 738: Hua Baijian Assassinated

Having discussed the equity transfer with Lin Zifeng in the morning and agreeing to transfer the stock rights to Nangong Bing, Hua Baijian still hesitated for half a day.

He always felt like he was being deceived somehow, first by Director Zhang’s threatening phone call, then by Lin Zifeng’s sudden appearance and convoluted talk, which made Hua Baijian suspect.

In the afternoon, despite having promised Lin Zifeng to deliver the stock rights, Hua Baijian was now dubious and also reluctant to give them up.

If he really did hand over all five percent of his Tianyu stock, wouldn’t he have nothing left in Tianyu thereafter?

After smoking a cigarette in the car, Hua Baijian’s furrowed brows became increasingly entangled.

At this moment, the phone that had fallen behind the car seat suddenly rang.

The latest model Bentley, with its distinctive appearance parked at the roadside, indeed attracted attention.

Hua Baijian hurriedly retrieved his phone, and after connecting the call, he stayed quiet for a long while, waiting for the person on the other end to speak.

”Director Hua, you’ve decided not to sell that five percent of stock, then?”

The voice of Director Zhang, neither blatantly hostile nor friendly, came through the phone, with an overtone of threat.

”Director Zhang, I’m sorry, but I only hold a mere five percent of the stock rights. Even if I sell them to you, it won’t make much of a difference. At most, it will be on par with Nangong Bing’s hold on Tianyu’s stock. I don’t think you’d be interested in such a small share,” Hua Baijian tried his best to contain the tone of his voice.

”Hua Baijian! Don’t refuse a toast only to face a forfeit. Are you willing to disregard even your own daughter for that mere five percent stake?”

Director Zhang’s voice was chilly and carried a mocking sneer through the phone.

”Hua Baijian, let me tell you. Your darling girl is growing up quite attractively; don’t make a rash decision you’ll regret for the rest of your life,” he warned.

”Zhang Feinian! I warn you, if you dare to harm a single hair on my daughter’s head, I, Hua Baijian, will throw away all the stock rights, but I will absolutely not sell them cheaply to you! Just so you know, I’ve already sold my stock rights to Nangong Bing. If you have the guts, try to snatch them from Nangong Bing’s hands! Threaten me? Do you really think I, Hua Baijian, am a naive fledgling?” Hua Baijian laughed coldly and angrily scolded over the phone.

”Beep beep...”

The caller on the other end immediately hung up.

Hua Baijian took out a cigar he had been roasting for a full half minute and put it in his mouth, finally feeling a weight lift from his heart.

It wasn’t until this deluxe Bentley sports car drove off the street and headed towards the entrance of a hotel.

It was 8:30 p.m. by then, and the hotel entrance was bustling with lively couples out for an evening stroll.

However, crouching behind a flower bed not far from the hotel, was a man who looked completely ordinary, someone who wouldn’t get a second glance in a crowd.

Squinting through narrowed eyes, he held a popular Red Double Happiness cigarette, enjoying it with gusto.

As soon as Hua Baijian’s Bentley appeared, the man smashed the stub of the cigarette he had been smoking onto the ground and crushed it into powder with his foot.

The man was not particularly tall, but his eyes flickered sharply, hinting at a keen edge.

In his hand, he held a crumpled newspaper.

Just as Hua Baijian was getting out of the car, the man nonchalantly followed behind Hua Baijian, blending in with the other pedestrians.

At this time, a very elegantly dressed and beautiful young woman approached and beckoned to Hua Baijian at the hotel entrance.

”Husband!”

She seemed very pretty and young, the type that Hua Baijian likely kept as a mistress of sorts on the side.

”Mr. Hua.”

Suddenly, the man reached out and patted Hua Baijian on the shoulder.

”Who are...”

Hua Baijian turned around...

”Pfft.”

A blade, with a glint of light flashed from the man’s newspaper, stabbed fiercely into Hua Baijian’s abdomen.

The man wore a wide-brimmed black hat that completely concealed his face.

”Our boss says you really don’t know what’s good for you. As for your daughter, our boss will make sure she’s taken care of,” the man said with a cold smile, patting Hua Baijian’s pale face.

He then turned and leaped towards the direction of the flower bed.

”Husband!”

At the hotel entrance, the woman called out shyly.

But she didn’t notice the unusual state of Hua Baijian at that moment.

Looking at the beautiful woman coming towards him,

Hua Baijian gave a bitter smile, his face as pale as paper.

With his pupils diffused, his vision went dark, and the ground was already covered with red blood...

...

Meanwhile, Lin Zifeng, who had just returned home, raised his eyebrows slightly as if something had happened.

When he pushed open the gates of the villa, he saw Huahua with tears streaming down her face, rushing out from a room, followed closely by Liu Tangtang holding onto the little girl.

”Uncle, stop Lord Hua quickly!”

Liu Tangtang yelled anxiously.

Huahua rushed to the front, her pink cheeks already marked with tear stains.

”No! My daddy, he can’t be dead! No! Impossible, my daddy can’t be dead!”

”What’s going on?”

Lin Zifeng’s heart skipped a beat, and he quickly stepped forward to hold the little girl in his arms.

”Uncle, Uncle Hua. He, he was murdered!”

Liu Tangtang cried out, her tears just as distressed as Huahua’s.

”Nangong just called, saying Uncle Hua is dead,”

Liu Tangtang pouted and said.

Boom!!!

Lin Zifeng’s eyes widened, his heart swelling with emotion.

”Daddy won’t be dead, he won’t be,”

Huahua shook her head desperately, continuously covering her mouth with her hands to keep herself from crying out loud.

”That’s right! He won’t be dead!”

Lin Zifeng comforted, holding the little girl tightly.

He quickly pulled out his cellphone and dialed Nangong Bing’s number, but no one answered after a long wait.

With his heart pounding frantically and his eyes red, seeing Huahua crying like a child made him feel terrible.

”How could this happen? Where is Nangong Bing now?” Lin Zifeng asked.

”At Bodinger Hospital,” Liu Tangtang said.

”I’ll take you to her right now. Uncle Hua will definitely be fine, don’t worry, he won’t be dead,” Lin Zifeng hurriedly said, quickly ushering them towards his car.

But his stomach was turning with worry; he had just seen Hua Baijian alive and well, and now in just a short time, he had been assassinated?

Damn it!

Lin Zifeng’s eyes filled with bloody rage.

He held Huahua, who had already cried herself into a tearful mess, tightly in his arms.

He drove his car quickly towards Bodinger Hospital.

...

After unsuccessful resuscitation efforts, Hua Baijian still passed away.

Looking at the cold body being wheeled out of the ward, the entire upper management of Tianyu came rushing over.

The woman nearly fainted several times but fortunately, Zhao Xuemo and Zhang Xixi were by her side.

She, who had never shown grief before, was subjected to an extremely heavy blow today.

After experiencing the pain of losing her father, her fragile mental defences were nearly at the edge.
