Chapter 728: The Nefarious Poultry Traffickers

This fable was something Lin Zifeng had come across on the internet before.

He had thought that the fable might teach them a lesson. It seemed he was just being sentimental.

Seeing Lin Zifeng wasn’t going to continue, Liu Tangtang poked him again with a finger and said, ”Uncle, are you telling us that we should never imitate the bamboo? That we should never hide ourselves too long in anything we do?”

”...”

Lin Zifeng didn’t respond.

”Uncle, I’m talking to you,” Liu Tangtang poked him again.

”You can pretend Uncle didn’t say anything and imagine it for yourself,” Lin Zifeng waved his hand, deciding it was better to just go back to performing his bodyguard duties.

It seemed the generational gap wasn’t just a little bit huge!

Amidst the strange atmosphere in the car, the three of them finally made it to the seafood market. Liu Tangtang was feeling somewhat okay, but Princess Huahua’s ailment seemed to be getting serious.

She was not used to that rank and stinky smell, especially the fishy, salty scent of the seafood market.

In the end, only after Liu Tangtang pulled and tugged desperately did the three manage to enter the seafood market.

Looking at the diverse array of vendors in the seafood market, it was the first time for both to be in such a place.

Liu Tangtang was driven entirely by curiosity.

”Uncle, what are they doing?”

Liu Tangtang pointed at a fishmonger who slammed a very large fish to the ground, then picked it up and slammed it several more times until the big fish had no strength left to move.Only then did he smile and hand the fish to a middle-aged woman’s hands.

”That fish was too lively, it had just been caught. For safety’s sake, they slammed it nearly to death, so it wouldn’t have enough strength to struggle. That way it’s easier to handle.”

Lin Zifeng vividly remembered how, as a child, his mother often took him to the seafood market to buy fish for him to eat. Back then, Lin Zifeng was quite frail, so his mother would often buy a larger fish to make a nourishing soup for him to drink.

”Ew! Isn’t that a bit too cruel?”

Liu Tangtang frowned, covering her mouth with her right hand, especially after seeing the fishmonger slice open the fish’s belly with a shiny knife, loathsome fish guts and blood flowing out. This filled the ever-curious Liu Tangtang with fear towards the seafood market.

This seemed less like a market and more like a bloody slaughterhouse.

Shifting their gaze to a pork stall, the sight of large, clean pig heads hanging on hooks scared both Liu Tangtang and Huahua so much that they clung to Lin Zifeng’s arm, their faces pale.

Liu Tangtang even couldn’t resist lightly touching the pig’s head with her hand as they passed by it.

It turned out, city kids finding a real pig was indeed a rarity.

”Hey, little sister, do you want the pig’s head?”

The pork stall owner was a burly man with a stubbly face, a cigarette hanging from his lips. Seeing Liu Tangtang touch the pig’s head, he smirked.

Scared, Liu Tangtang quickly withdrew her hand and retorted angrily, ”You’re the pig’s head, your whole family are pig heads.”

”...”

The pork vendor was stunned, watching the three walk away. He rubbed his head, feeling like a monk who faced a puzzle beyond his comprehension.

Lin Zifeng looked on at the two girls with a bittersweet smile, realizing they hadn’t even purchased a single scallion from the time they entered the seafood market, with both girls clinging to him so tightly.

”Uncle, it’s really scary here,” Liu Tangtang shrank her neck.

She looked with horror at the scene before her, which seemed like Shura’s realm, especially the two small points that continually rubbed against the man’s arm beneath the white T-shirt.

While Huahua kept to herself on his right arm, her eyes, wide with shock, clearly showed she was terrified.

Four soft hill-like bundles just rubbed and rubbed, caressed and caressed.

Simply tantalizing.

”This is just a seafood market, after all. These fish and shrimps are meant for us humans to eat. You’ve seen steaks, lion’s heads, squid slices, and so forth—all made from these things. So if you’ve eaten them before, what’s there to fear?”

”Eek, I swear I’ll never eat these things again, they’re so scary,” Liu Tangtang continued to shrink her neck, not daring to look.

Although both of them declared they would no longer eat seafood and the like, Lin Zifeng took them back to the poultry section, planning to pick out a couple of silky chickens to nourish their beauty. After all, Lin Zifeng could clearly feel the soft bundles on his left and right arms brushing against him, and there was indeed a difference in size.

However, the chickens in the poultry dealer’s cage were almost all drooping their heads with swollen lumps hanging below their necks.

It was obvious these were tricks by unscrupulous dealers.

Looks like poultry was off the menu now.

Just as they were about to leave, Liu Tangtang pointed at a droopy-headed big silky chicken and said, ”Master Hua, I’ve heard that silky chickens can beautify and enhance breasts.”

Huahua, who was already a bit picky with food, was quite casual about meat. Hearing Tangtang mention breast enhancement,

The young girl’s heart started thumping. She didn’t know if she’d ever eaten silky chicken, but the idea of it enhancing breasts was certainly a bright spot.

”Animal, buy some silky breasts, and cooking them into soup at home will definitely be delicious.”

”These are not good chickens, let’s not. Let’s eat something else.”

Lin Zifeng casually said.

However, his casual remark was overheard by the poultry dealer who pointed at Lin Zifeng’s nose and said, ”Hey! Kid, what did you say?”

”What’s wrong, big brother?”

Lin Zifeng looked at him, perplexed.

”What do you mean by what you just said? Good chickens, bad chickens? Kid, you better watch your mouth!”

The poultry dealer was a man in his forties who got annoyed when he heard Lin Zifeng suggest his chickens were bad.

”What did I say, don’t you know full well?” Lin Zifeng, having politely called him ’big brother,’ found the man ungrateful.

Filling chicken intestines with sand and iron filings was no secret in the market; almost everyone knew about these unethical practices.

Yet, the man just couldn’t stand Lin Zifeng, who wouldn’t buy and picked at faults.

”Kid, are you asking for trouble? Do you know who looks after this market? If you dare to leak this, do you believe I can have someone cripple you?!”

The poultry dealer threatened maliciously.

Tossing the cigarette from his mouth to the ground, he crushed it fiercely with his foot.

Pointed at Lin Zifeng’s nose threateningly.

”How dare you threaten my uncle?!”

Liu Tangtang stepped forward.

”You little brat, go where it’s cool and stay there.”

The poultry dealer waved his hand dismissively and cursed.

”I don’t care how much advantage you think you’re gaining by doing this, but I urge you, what you do is seen by the heavens. Filling intestines with sand and iron filings is not a smart choice if you want good business. It’s not just about gaining an advantage in weight.”

Lin Zifeng protected Liu Tangtang behind him, his gaze sharp and clear as he stared at him.

In his opinion, as long as you don’t bury your conscience, no matter the industry, that’s enough.
