Everyone in the Group is a Main Character, Except Me Who's the Villain

223: Chapter 223 Warm Warm, Long Time No SeeDuring this period, for Ye Nuannuan’s safety, Fang Ming would pick her up and drop her off from work even if he was with other girls.

Today was no exception; ten minutes after messaging Ye Nuannuan, his porsche pulled up exactly on time at the entrance of Yunlan International.

Ye Nuannuan pulled open the car door and sat inside, fastened her seatbelt, and turned her head to look at Fang Ming.

”Have you heard of Jinxiu Pavilion?”

Fang Ming nodded and started the car. ”I’ve heard of it. It’s that new place south of the city, quite popular. Did that Li Jun contact you again?”

Ye Nuannuan was stunned for a moment. ”How did you know?”

”Just a guess.” Fang Ming smiled and didn’t explain further.

The Marketing Department having a dinner party and inviting the Administration Department? And specifically inviting Ye Nuannuan, a married woman—no matter how you looked at it, it didn’t seem right.

Ye Nuannuan asked tentatively, ”Then... are we still going?”

”Go, of course we’re going,” Fang Ming said casually. ”I also happen to want to see what kind of tricks he wants to play this time.”

...

On the second floor of Jinxiu Pavilion, the largest private room had been booked by the Yunlan International Marketing Department.

When Fang Ming and Ye Nuannuan pushed the door open and entered, many people were already seated inside. Laughter, talking, and the clinking of bowls and chopsticks blended together.

”Oh, Assistant Ye is here!”

A young girl with a ponytail was the first to stand up and quickly came forward to greet them. She took Ye Nuannuan’s hand, her face full of smiles.

She was a new employee in the Administration Department and had only been at Yunlan for a few days.

Several other colleagues from the Administration Department, including Lu Ping, also gathered around, greeting them all at once.

”Fang Ming, you’re really something. You’ve only been at Yunlan for a few days and you’ve already made off with our Assistant Ye.”

”Exactly, we didn’t even realize what was happening at the time.”

”Come, come, sit down quickly, we were just waiting for you.”

The atmosphere was very warm. Fang Ming was ushered into a seat by the window, and Ye Nuannuan sat down next to him.

The table was already covered with dishes—lobster, abalone, sashimi platters—it was clear a lot of money had been spent.

Li Jun sat in the head seat. Seeing Fang Ming come in, the smile on his face was as enthusiastic as if he were seeing his own brother.

”Fang Ming, come, come, come, we must have a few good drinks today.” He raised his wine glass and gestured toward Fang Ming. ”There was some misunderstanding at the company last time. Let’s use this opportunity today to let bygones be bygones.”

Fang Ming looked at him, also raised his glass, and clinked it.

”Director Li is too polite.”

Li Jun tilted his head back and drained it; Fang Ming followed suit to the end.

During the meal... aside from a few colleagues who deliberately toasted Fang Ming, nothing unexpected happened.

”Fang Ming, I toast you!”

”I toast you too. It’s not easy for our Administration Department to produce a celebrity.”

”Exactly, Assistant Ye is the goddess of our company. Since you’ve won her over, shouldn’t you drink a few more glasses?”

Fang Ming refused no one, glass after glass, with a faint smile always on his face.

Ye Nuannuan sat beside him, watching those people take turns toasting him, feeling vaguely that something was wrong.

They were too enthusiastic, a bit excessively so. She quietly tugged at the corner of Fang Ming’s clothes.

Fang Ming turned his head, glanced at her, said nothing, and only gave her a reassuring look.

After three rounds of wine and five courses of food, Fang Ming leaned against the back of his chair. His face was flushed, his eyes were a bit unfocused, and his speech began to become slurred.

Several colleagues were still raising their glasses. He waved his hand, his tongue thick. ”No... I can’t do it anymore. If I drink any more, I won’t be able to get back.”

Ye Nuannuan supported him, feeling secretly anxious.

Li Jun sat in the head seat, looking at Fang Ming’s state with an expression that was hard to decipher.

”Assistant Ye, Fang Ming has had too much to drink. Let me drive you two back.”

Ye Nuannuan shook her head. ”No need, Director Li, we drove here.”

”Drove here?” Li Jun was stunned for a moment.

When Fang Ming was at Yunlan International, he always took the subway to work with Ye Nuannuan. The only time he drove was for Old Master Mu’s birthday banquet.

But that birthday banquet ended very hurriedly, and everyone’s attention was on Old Master Mu; he really didn’t know Fang Ming had a car.

However, Fang Ming was just a newcomer in the workplace. Even if he had a car, it probably wouldn’t be a very good one.

”Then I’ll call a designated driver for you. I’m familiar with this place; it’s more convenient than calling one yourselves.” He snapped back to his senses and was already pulling out his phone, swiping on the screen.

Ye Nuannuan originally wanted to refuse, but Li Jun moved too fast. By the time she reacted, the call had already been placed.

”Hello? Yes, Jinxiu Pavilion, two people, arriving immediately.” He hung up the phone and looked at Ye Nuannuan. ”The driver will be here soon. Please wait a moment.”

Ye Nuannuan opened her mouth but found it hard to say anything more.

...

As time passed, the dinner finally ended.

A group of people crowded toward the exit. When they reached the downstairs parking lot, Li Jun followed them, still saying polite words. ”Fang Ming’s drinking capacity still needs practice. This was only how much...”

Mid-sentence, he stopped.

Because Ye Nuannuan pressed the car key, and the lights of the brand-new porsche cayenne nearby flashed twice.

”This... this is your car?” Li Jun was shocked, and several colleagues nearby were also stunned.

A porsche cayenne? Even an entry-level model must cost over a million, right?

Xiao Zhang from the Administration Department blurted out, ”Holy crap, Fang Ming drives a porsche?”

Lu Ping also widened his eyes, looking at the car and then at the half-dead Fang Ming leaning on Ye Nuannuan, not knowing what to say for a moment.

The smile on Li Jun’s face froze for a second before returning to normal. He gave two dry laughs. ”Haha, no wonder you chose him back then. So that’s how it is...”

Ye Nuannuan didn’t respond, supporting Fang Ming as they walked toward the car.

A man about thirty years old, with a buzz cut and wearing a vest, came running over. ”Hello, did you call for a designated driver?”

Ye Nuannuan nodded.

The driver took the car keys and opened the back door. Ye Nuannuan helped Fang Ming inside and sat him down, then got into the car herself.

”Drive slowly on the road.” Li Jun stood outside the car and waved at them, a smile still hanging on his face.

The car door closed, and the porsche slowly drove out of the parking lot.

Li Jun stood where he was, watching the car’s taillights disappear into the night, the smile on his face slowly fading away.

...

The porsche drove through the night. Neon lights flickered outside the window, and the city’s bustle gradually receded. Ye Nuannuan leaned against the window, looking at the increasingly unfamiliar streets outside, feeling vaguely that something was wrong.

”Master, where are you driving to?” she asked.

The driver didn’t even turn his head. ”This way is a bit closer, avoiding the evening rush hour traffic jams.”

Ye Nuannuan frowned and looked out the window. The streetlights were becoming sparser, and the buildings on both sides were becoming more dilapidated. How was this the way home?

She instinctively looked at Fang Ming.

Fang Ming leaned against the seat with his eyes closed, his breathing steady, looking as if he were truly asleep.

She instinctively bit her lip, her hand quietly reaching for the Storage Ring. That was her only means of saving her life besides Fang Ming.

The car turned into a potholed cement road with abandoned factory buildings on both sides. It was pitch black, without a single soul in sight. In the distance, there was only a dim yellow streetlight swaying in the night breeze.

Screech—the car stopped.

Ye Nuannuan’s heart skipped a beat.

Several blinding headlights suddenly lit up ahead, shining directly into the car. She raised her hand to block her eyes and saw through the gaps between her fingers—seven or eight black figures surrounding the porsche from all directions, encircling it tightly.

The door of the black Mercedes-Benz at the front opened, and a tall man stepped out.

He wore a dark shirt, with deep-set features, and a naturally noble air between his brows.

Those eyes looked past the headlights, staring straight at the back seat, at the face in the window that haunted his dreams.

”Nuannuan, long time no see.”
