Everyone in the Group is a Main Character, Except Me Who's the Villain

165: Chapter 165 The dog I raised bit someone.Fang Ming’s words caused the sneering smile on Zhao Ruilong’s face to instantly freeze, and his brain briefly short-circuited along with it.

What the hell was going on? Had he misheard just now??

A mere lackey under Qin Xiao actually dared to speak to him like that in front of a woman??

Qiao Xingyue, sitting opposite them, was also stunned, her eyes filled with disbelief.

She looked at Fang Ming, then at Zhao Ruilong’s face as it turned from white to a sickly green, her heart pounding wildly.

She knew Fang Ming was wealthy now—he lived in a villa, drove luxury cars, and even had connections with underworld figures like Han Kun.

But so what? In Chengdu, the Zhao family was an established, prestigious clan. No matter how much of a scoundrel Zhao Ruilong was, his father was someone who could share drinks with the City Lord. Fang Ming was just a common worker; where did he get the nerve to go head-to-head with Zhao Ruilong?

Qiao Xingyue wanted to speak up to smooth things over, but her throat felt as if it were stuffed with cotton; she couldn’t squeeze out a single word.

Fang Ming, however, remained perfectly calm. ”Didn’t hear me clearly? Are you deaf?”

”I was being polite to you, and you really think you’re some big shot? Without your parents, you’re just a piece of shit. How dare you act all high and mighty in front of me? Who gave you the courage?”

”You... you...”

Zhao Ruilong slammed the table and stood up, leaning on his cane with one hand while pointing at Fang Ming with the other, his fingertips trembling.

”Fine, Fang Ming, you’ve got guts. A damn worker dares to talk to me like this?”

His voice was shrill, attracting the attention of several nearby tables. A waiter stood not far away holding coffee, unsure whether to approach or retreat.

Fang Ming ignored him completely, turning his head slightly as his gaze fell upon the dazed Qiao Xingyue.

”Miss Qiao, there’s a dog barking here, and it’s giving me a headache. How about... we move somewhere else?”

Qiao Xingyue’s mind went blank.

No, can someone tell me what’s happening right now?

Isn’t Fang Ming just an assistant to Qin Xiao? How does he dare speak to Zhao Ruilong like that? And so calmly?

Has he always been this brave?

She looked into Fang Ming’s calm, steady eyes and almost subconsciously stood up, grabbing her chain bag.

This move completely ignited Zhao Ruilong’s fury.

”Fang Ming, don’t think just because you have Young Master Qin backing you that I won’t touch you. Believe it or not, I’ll call him right now and have him fire you.”

As he spoke, he actually took out his phone and unlocked the screen, his thumb hovering over his contacts as he glared viciously at Fang Ming.

Fang Ming didn’t even stop his pace, only giving him a mocking look. ”Calling for backup because you lost the argument? Go ahead, call him. Do it quickly. If you don’t, you’re a coward.”

After saying that, he no longer bothered with Zhao Ruilong, whose face behind him was turning a bloody shade of red, and pushed open the glass door of the cafe.

The door hinges creaked softly as a wave of afternoon heat hit them. The wind chimes overhead swayed, letting out a crisp tinkling sound.

Zhao Ruilong stood where he was, his breathing as heavy as a defeated bull.

”Damn it, you forced my hand!!!”

With that, Zhao Ruilong wasted no time and dialed Qin Xiao’s number.

The phone rang twice before being picked up. Before Qin Xiao could speak, Zhao Ruilong blurted out.

”Hey, Old Qin, the dog you’re keeping is biting people. Are you going to do something about it or not?”

Hearing this, Qin Xiao frowned slightly. ”The dog I’m keeping?”

”That Fang Ming. Last time he bumped into me while holding a woman and made a fool of me in public. I didn’t hold it against him for your sake, but what happened? Today, in front of a woman, this kid called me a piece of shit. Does he really think I’m a pushover?”

”I can’t do anything about this matter,” Qin Xiao’s voice came through the receiver, indifferent.

”Old Qin, what do you mean?” Zhao Ruilong was stunned, then a shadow of gloom crossed his eyes. ”Even after this, you still want to protect him? He’s just a lackey under you. You’re going to snub me for a piece of trash like him?”

”It’s not about protecting him.” Qin Xiao paused, his tone calm. ”It’s because he has already resigned. He is no longer an employee of my Qin Group.”

”What?? Resigned?”

Zhao Ruilong froze, nearly dropping his phone.

What the hell was going on?? The Qin Group was a place where countless young talents dreamed of working.

Fang Ming had even been personally favored by Qin Xiao and promoted to personal assistant; his future was limitless.

Why would he resign at a time like this??

”He resigned many days ago.”

”In other words...” Zhao Ruilong realized and quickly lowered his voice. ”Now, no matter how I deal with him, you won’t intervene?”

On the other end of the line, Qin Xiao didn’t answer immediately.

He stood before the floor-to-ceiling window of his office, watching the ant-like traffic below, his fingertips tapping twice on the window frame.

Fang Ming was a pawn he had spent resources to cultivate, even suppressing Yang Biao’s retaliation for him. Yet this guy resigned just like that, showing no regard for his face.

Since he didn’t want to be a dog, there was no need to protect him anymore.

”I won’t intervene,” Qin Xiao said calmly, then added: ”But he was my man once, after all. Don’t go too far.”

”Haha... Don’t worry, I promise I won’t go too far.”

Zhao Ruilong put down his phone, staring at the darkened screen, a satisfied smile spreading across his face.

Resigned? No longer Qin Xiao’s man? No one to protect him?

”Fang Ming... let’s see how you die this time.”

...In Zhao Ruilong’s mind, Fang Ming was just a powerless lackey. Before, with Qin Xiao backing him, it was hard to make a move.

Now that he had left Qin Xiao, Zhao Ruilong felt he had a hundred ways to kill Fang Ming.

But things were different now. Fang Ming couldn’t be bothered with him and drove Qiao Xingyue toward ’Moon Lake Bay’.

There was a villa here that Fang Ming had copied through ’System Item Sharing’ when Zhou Yuan was delivering food.

The sales office had called yesterday, but Fang Ming was busy researching the plan to deal with Ma Jiu and hadn’t had time to visit. Now was the perfect time.

”Fang Ming...”

Qiao Xingyue snapped out of it, struggling to find her voice. In her fear, she called him by his name directly.

”How did you dare speak to Zhao Ruilong like that just now? His father is Zhao Haicheng. Who in the political or business circles of Chengdu doesn’t give the Zhao family some face? You, doing this...”

”It’s fine, I know what I’m doing.”

”What do you know?”

Qiao Xingyue looked anxious, feeling a bit guilty. ”I know you’ve gained Qin Xiao’s favor, but at the end of the day, you’re still just a worker. You can’t compare to a second-generation rich kid like Zhao Ruilong. What if Qin Xiao really listens to him and fires you?”

”Are you worried about me?” Fang Ming gave her a curious look.

He knew exactly what Qiao Xingyue’s purpose was for approaching him, but since he had just offended Zhao Ruilong, logically, she should have distanced herself immediately.

But now... what was with this tone of concern for him?

Qiao Xingyue was momentarily at a loss for words. ”I just don’t want you to ruin your future because of me.”

”But things have already come to this, what do you want me to do??”
