Everyone in the Group is a Main Character, Except Me Who's the Villain

153: Master who has cultivated true qiThe Mu Family’s private doctor was a white-haired old man wearing gold-rimmed glasses, surnamed Sun.

Upon being summoned, he arrived at Mu Qingshan’s side immediately.

He nimbly took out a stethoscope from his portable first-aid kit, pressed it against the Old Master’s chest for a few seconds, then held the old man’s wrist to carefully check his pulse.

”The pulse is weak and slow, but relatively stable; there is no immediate life-threatening danger for now.” Dr. Sun spoke quickly, fine sweat beads forming on his forehead. ”It could be a sudden myocardial infarction or cerebral infarction. The specific cause must be determined by taking him to the hospital immediately for a comprehensive examination. We cannot delay!”

Mu Zhengyang made a prompt decision: ”Quick, arrange a car! To the nearest hospital!”

Under Mu Zhengyang’s command, the well-trained Mu Family Bodyguards and staff acted swiftly. Some carefully lifted Mu Qingshan onto a temporary stretcher, someone had already dialed the hospital, someone began clearing the path, and others were attending to the remaining guests.

Everyone was busy, each attending to their respective duties.

A perfectly good birthday banquet came to a hasty end due to this series of sudden incidents.

Fang Ming remained by Ye Nuannuan’s side, taking in the entire process. At the same time, he marveled in his heart at the power of the Qin Family and Lu Family joining forces.

Even though the security measures were supposedly airtight, they still managed to find a breakthrough.

Mu Zewu was Mu Qingxue’s cousin, twenty-six years old this year, and ran a martial arts gym in the Second Ring Road area. Someone showing up to challenge the gym and crippling him was something Fang Ming could have anticipated, but had no way to prevent.

After all, one can be a thief for a thousand days, but how can one guard against a thief for a thousand days?

As for Mu Qingshan’s side...? Fang Ming found it somewhat difficult to understand.

Possessing the super memory of a Scholar-God Protagonist, he had been carefully observing every move around him since entering the banquet hall.

Wu Mingyuan’s group’s movements, the food and drinks Mu Qingshan touched, even the subtle facial expressions of everyone... it all replayed in his mind like a fast-forwarded movie.

Wu Mingyuan himself had remained in his seat the entire time, more than ten meters away from Mu Qingshan in a straight line, without any direct contact. The lean man sat beside him, and the four Bodyguards stood behind him throughout, making no redundant movements.

The tea Old Master Mu drank was brought from his own home and brewed by a trusted servant of the Mu Family. The snacks were provided uniformly by the hotel and had been tasted by many people.

Poisoning? The probability was extremely low.

But if it wasn’t poisoning, how did Old Master Mu collapse? It couldn’t possibly be a coincidence, right?

Fang Ming had no time to consider other things. He quickly followed the plan, having Ye Nuannuan take him along as they followed Mu Qingxue to the hospital... the City First People’s Hospital, VIP floor.

Almost all the core members of the Mu Family had arrived, either standing or sitting, their expressions very grim.

”Zhengyang, how did this happen? Wasn’t Dad doing just fine earlier?”

”Yeah, and then there’s Xiao Wu. He’s an expert who has cultivated True Qi. How could he be beaten into the hospital at a critical moment like this?”

Mu Zhengyang was the current helmsman of the Mu Family. With so many things happening in succession, they naturally needed him to make the decisions.

”Now is not the time to think about that. Let’s see how Dad is doing first.”

Mu Zhengyang could guess the specifics of what happened, but he couldn’t say it at this moment.

The examination proceeded very quickly. After all, the Mu Family’s influence was significant; the best equipment and the most authoritative experts were assembled immediately.

However, the results made everyone’s hearts sink even further.

The emergency room door opened, and the previous Dr. Sun walked out accompanied by several hospital experts. Leading them was a cardiovascular department director with thinning hair and thick glasses.

”Director Liu, how is my father’s condition?” Mu Zhengyang immediately went up to meet him, his voice urgent.

Director Liu pushed up his glasses, his expression solemn: ”Mr. Mu, we have performed the most comprehensive examinations on Old Mr. Mu. CT, MRI, blood tests... everything that could be done has been done.”

He paused, seemingly weighing his words: ”From the current results... it’s very strange. No known toxic substances were detected in Old Mr. Mu’s body, ruling out the possibility of poisoning. Regarding the cardiovascular system, no obvious infarctions or hemorrhagic lesions were found either.”

”Then why did the Old Master suddenly fall into a coma? And why is his pulse getting weaker and weaker?” Dr. Sun couldn’t help but interject, equally bewildered.

”That is exactly the problem.” Director Liu sighed. ”The patient’s vital signs are continuing to decline slowly, especially his heart rate and blood pressure. Although they are currently being maintained with medication, according to this trend... if the cause isn’t found and effective intervention isn’t performed, I’m afraid... he won’t last 24 hours.”

”What? 24 hours?” The third Mu brother, Mu Zhengxiong, looked shocked.

He couldn’t understand at all why his father, who had been glowing with health just moments ago, would end up like this.

The corridor fell into a dead silence, broken only by the occasional, piercing beeps of the medical equipment.

”Ahem!”

Wu Mingyuan, who had been standing on the edge of the crowd as if he were just there to watch the excitement, gave a timely light cough, drawing everyone’s attention.

”Second Master Mu, I am deeply pained to hear about the Old Master’s condition. I didn’t expect such a wonderful birthday banquet to turn out like this.”

Mu Zhengyang looked at him coldly without saying a word.

Wu Mingyuan seemed not to feel the chill in that gaze as he pointed to the lean, middle-aged man who had been following him like a shadow.

”However, it just so happens that this brother of mine studied under a reclusive Traditional Chinese Medicine master for a few years in his youth. He has unique insights into some difficult and complicated diseases. Since the hospital can’t find the cause of the Old Master’s condition, perhaps... you could let him try?”

The lean man lifted his eyelids, his gaze calm and rippleless. Showing neither arrogance nor humility, just standing there gave off an unfathomable feeling.

Before Mu Zhengyang could speak, Mu Qingxue refused categorically: ”No need. Thank you for your kindness, Mr. Wu, but we will find a way to treat my grandfather ourselves. We won’t trouble an outsider.”

Her voice was icy, carrying undisguised vigilance and hostility. Unless one was a fool, everyone knew that this incident was most likely related to this Butler Wu.

Let him treat him? Who knew what the treatment would result in?

Wu Mingyuan seemed to have expected this answer. He wasn’t surprised but instead shook his head regretfully: ”Eldest Miss Mu’s words are too distant. A healer has a benevolent heart, and saving a life is paramount. But... since the Mu Family doesn’t trust us, then forget it.”

After saying that, he pulled an exquisitely made business card from his breast pocket and placed it on the nearby windowsill.

”This is my contact information. If... I say if, you are truly at your wits’ end, you can call me at any time. After all, the Old Master’s health is what matters. Some prejudices should be set aside when they need to be.”

Having finished, he gave Mu Qingxue a meaningful look, nodded slightly to Mu Zhengyang, and then led his subordinates away from the hospital corridor.

His footsteps were steady and unhurried as they faded into the distance.

The Mu Family members watched his departing figure, their expressions turning even uglier. The implication in his words was more than obvious.

The poison was most likely administered by them, but you couldn’t detect it with modern instruments, leaving you with no way to deal with them.

If they wanted the antidote, they would have to beg them. As for what price they would have to pay? Mu Qingxue already had a suspicion in her heart.

”The tests show nothing wrong, yet the pulse is getting weaker. The Lu Family really has quite the methods...”

Mu Zhengyang’s face was solemn as he looked at his daughter: ”Xiaoxue, do you have any ideas?”

”Clear the area!”

”What?”

”Clear the area. Don’t let any suspicious people get near Grandfather’s ward.”
