Chapter 638: Chapter 636 Heading Towards Decline (Sixth Update)

”Don’t worry, Uncle, I will definitely reach that Realm!”

Xiao Yifeng said with unwavering determination in his eyes.

Afterwards, Xiao Yifeng ordered all the members of the Zhan Huang mercenaries to retreat to Tianhai and meet up with Kuang Shi and the others.

Now, Xiao Yifeng was gradually bringing the power of the Zhan Huang mercenaries into China since his main battlefield was here.

He needed a powerful force by his side to assist him in handling other matters, and now that Xiao Yifeng could refine Elixirs, he could better use them to enhance their strength.

Meanwhile, in Tianhai, a number of things were happening.

At Tianhai University, Lu Xueqing was watching a movie in her apartment dormitory when a sudden knock on the door arose.

”Who is it?”

Lu Xueqing called out, but the knocks continued without any response.

Lu Xueqing got up and went to open the door; immediately, a dagger was pressed against her throat, causing her complexion to change, as a group of men in black stood outside.

”Who are you?”

Lu Xueqing said with a trembling voice, looking pale.

”Stop talking, just come with us, or we’ll kill you right here!”

One of the men said coldly, and they took Lu Xueqing away from there.

Elsewhere, outside Ye Yaxin’s villa in Haitang Garden, figures in black, their faces masked showing only their eyes and wielding Japanese katanas, appeared; they were dressed like Japanese Ninjas.

One of them scanned the surroundings and, with a wave of their hand, the others followed close behind, heading for the villa’s door.

”What do you Japanese want?”

A voice, cold and merciless, rang out as Cold Edge appeared in front of them.

”Kill!”

The leading Japanese Ninja wasted no words, with a single syllable erupting from his mouth, one Ninja brandishing a katana rushed towards Cold Edge.

Splat!

The sound of blood spraying filled the air!

Cold Edge moved and the Ninja, who was at the Transformative Energy Stage, collapsed on the ground.

Simultaneously, a group of Zhan Huang members, wielding Swiss army daggers, stone-faced with eyes sharp as lightning, emerged. They were there to protect the Ye sisters.

”Kill!”

Both leaders spat out the word, and the Zhan Huang members clashed with the group of Japanese Ninjas.

Cold Edge and the opposition’s leader also charged at each other, engaging in intense combat.

Bang, bang, bang!

A series of jarring booms erupted as Cold Edge, weapon in hand, with a cold expression and ruthless eyes, fought fiercely with the Japanese Ninja.

After an intense battle, the Ninja’s figure suddenly vanished from in front of Cold Edge, only to appear behind him the next second, swinging his blade down.

Thwack!

Cold Edge’s body swayed, dodging the blade. The weapon in his hand traced an arc of light, stabbing into the Ninja like lightning, blood spurting forth.

Thump!

Cold Edge kicked out again, sending the opponent crashing down at the villa entrance.

Just then, the villa door opened, and Ye Yaxin and Ye Yashi, alerted by the noise, stepped out only to be taken aback by the scene before them.

At that moment, the Japanese Ninja’s gaze landed on Ye Yaxin behind him; despite the severe pain, he leapt up, reaching out towards her.

Thud!

At that moment, a black arc of light sliced through the night like a bolt of lightning, stabbing into the ninja’s body. It entered through his back, exited from the front, and pierced right through him. His eyes, wide and exposed, stared outwards as he collapsed to the ground.

Cold Edge approached with an indifferent expression and pulled out the weapon that had impaled the ninja’s chest. He looked at Ye Yaxin and said,

”Young Madam, I apologize for disturbing you. However, you needn’t worry; with us here, you will be safe.”

”Who are all these people?”

Ye Yaxin asked with furrowed brows.

”They are all Japanese Ninja, likely here to target you, Young Madam,”

Cold Edge replied gravely.

Ye Yaxin nodded and returned to the villa with Ye Yashi, while outside, the group of ninjas was quickly and decisively annihilated by Cold Edge in just a few minutes.

”Sis, look how good your husband is to you. Even after you kicked him out, he’s still personally arranged for our protection. I think that, aside from being a bit of a womanizer, he doesn’t really have any other flaws. He truly cares about you. You should stop being mad at him and forgive him!”

Ye Yashi said to Xiao Yifeng.

”Enough, you girl, always speaking well of him. I know already,”

Ye Yaxin said indifferently, with a flicker in her eyes.

The next day, Yanjing was rocked by a sensational piece of news that spread rapidly throughout the city, causing an uproar.

The once mighty Yaan Family, one of the Eight Great Families, had been decimated overnight. Apart from Yaan Jianye and Yaan Yanjun, the two highest-ranking members, the rest of the family, numbering over a hundred individuals, were all executed.

Even those members of the Yaan Family who were not at home that evening were all uniformly slaughtered. Yaan Wuheng, the Young Master Yaan, was also killed, essentially erasing the Yaan Family from existence.

The patriarch of the Yaan Family was so enraged by this catastrophe that he became gravely ill and had to be hospitalized. After the joint efforts of two National Physicians, his life was barely saved. However, he suffered a serious loss of vitality due to the attack of inner fire on his heart.

Although no longer in danger, he could only lie in bed, recuperating and unable to recover, leading to Yaan Jianye being removed from his position, which added insult to injury and hastened the decline and ruin of the Yaan Family.

The news caused a flurry of discussion among the powerful families and influential figures in Yanjing, all eager to uncover the mastermind behind the incident.

Who dared to inflict such a ruthless blow on the Yaan Family? However, since only the remaining two members of the Yaan Family and the Dragon Guard Yan Haotian knew what happened that night, they kept silent about it.

So now most people were unaware of Xiao Yifeng’s involvement, although some had already speculated a connection to him.

After all, in Yanjing, the only person who dared to make a move against the Yaan Family and act so ruthlessly was Xiao Yifeng. Xiao Yifeng had just caused the Yaan Family a huge loss of face during the daytime and many casualties, and by evening, disaster befell them; it seemed too much of a coincidence.

In Yanjing Hospital, Yaan Jianye lay on the hospital bed, his complexion pale and lined with wrinkles, looking a decade older as if he were in the twilight of his life. Yaan Yanjun stood by his side with a gloomy face.

”Father, please take care of your health!”

Yaan Yanjun said to Yaan Jianye.

”Yanjun, ensure our deceased are properly buried,”

Yaan Jianye spoke in a hoarse and weathered voice.

”Don’t worry, Father, I will,”

Yaan Yanjun nodded.

”And Wuheng, see to it that he has a good burial as well,”

”Understood,”

Yaan Yanjun responded, his eyes filled with profound pain.

”Now that I’ve retired prematurely and lost my position, the path ahead will be even more difficult for you. But no matter what, you must maintain your current position. Otherwise, the Yaan Family will be completely doomed and vanish from Yanjing.”

”And remember one word—endure! Do not take any action against that young man. When the day comes that he falls into crisis, it will be our chance to avenge ourselves and settle our grudges,”

Yaan Jianye spoke coldly.

Yaan Yanjun’s fists clenched tightly.
