I Am Your Natural Enemy

Back at Fuyu Mountain, Fourth Great-uncle Master threw his head back in laughter, his face glowing with happiness.

Seventh Great-uncle Master came over and asked,

”Senior Brother, what’s going on?”

”You illiterate fool, what do you know, get lost.” Fourth Great-uncle Master swept his sleeve and walked off by himself, leaving a bewildered Seventh Great-uncle Master.

”Me? Illiterate?”

Fourth Great-uncle Master returned to his own room, shut the door immediately, and as he faced a room full of books, his eyes began to light up.

No one else could possibly fully understand him, nor could they easily guess why he suddenly became like this.

Even though he studied a lot, almost... no, not even almost, he was the most knowledgeable person in Fuyu Mountain if you look back a hundred years—both in breadth and depth.

But, all this time, he had always walked the path paved by those before him.

Before the Spiritual Qi Resurgence, he had no choice; after Spiritual Qi Resurgence, when things started to shift, half his life had already passed.

Because he had never seen an impossible possibility, any wild ideas that occasionally popped into his head would be forgotten almost instantly.

Until today, when he saw Wen Yan, who had zero talent for cultivation, borrowing the Old Celestial Master’s power, wielding the Celestial Magic Sword, totally a tool guy, forced his way in and still couldn’t even step into Dao cultivation.

But now, not only does he have the Heavenly Bestowed Treasure Talisman, he even has the aura only granted to Daoist Masters who’ve been formally taught the way.

Add on that thing Wen Yan said.

No one else could understand just how much encouragement that thing plus the words meant to him.

If even the most impossible thing can happen, then what exactly is impossible?

Those fleeting ideas that once flashed through his mind suddenly leapt to the surface.

He wanted to carve out a path of his own, one that fit his heart perfectly.

A lifetime’s worth of accumulation, ideas thought out or half-thought-out, all exploded at this moment, turning into steps forward.

Outside Fourth Great-uncle Master’s room, Grand Uncle Master, Third Great-uncle Master, and Seventh Great-uncle Master gathered together.

”What’s up with Senior Brother?”

”He achieved enlightenment.” Grand Uncle Master sighed.

”Cursing me... counts as enlightenment?”

Grand Uncle Master shot Seventh Great-uncle Master a sidelong glance.

”Honestly speaking, for him right now, you really aren’t much different from an illiterate.”

”...”

”Come on, don’t bother him, just let things go as normal, and nobody talk to him.”

”If he’s in seclusion, doesn’t he need someone to bring him food?”

Grand Uncle Master glanced at Seventh Great-uncle Master again, didn’t say a word, and turned to leave.

”Third Senior Brother, did I say something wrong again?”

Third Great-uncle Master didn’t say anything either, just gave him a look and walked off.

At the window, Wen Yan seemed a bit worried and came by for a peek.

He only saw Third Great-uncle Master’s flying sword floating outside.

”Brother Jian, is Fourth Great-uncle Master okay?”

The flying sword waved a bit.

”That means he’s fine?”

The flying sword nodded twice.

”Okay then.”

Wen Yan thought for a second, then added,

”Brother Jian, do you want a Scorching Sun boost?”

The flying sword circled in place, hovered for several seconds, then blinked right in front of Wen Yan, pointing its hilt at him.

Wen Yan stuck out a finger and tapped the sword, blessing it with a bit of Yang Energy.

Instantly, a long red trail appeared in the air as the flying sword vanished from sight.

Wen Yan chuckled, guessing that Third Great-uncle Master had probably given special instructions, and this flying sword looked a bit sneaky about it.

He closed the window and came up from the basement, and seeing Gauss sitting on the broomstick, Wen Yan couldn’t hold back anymore.

”How long are you planning to keep showing off? Still sitting on that thing?”

”Hey, I put a lot of work into this, of course I have to show off a bit!”

”Yo, you’re learning fast. Who taught you this time?”

”Pei said showing off is the source of all happiness. Happy drinks can’t even compare.”

”...”

If it were anyone else saying this was something Pei Tugou said, Wen Yan would be 100% sure they were lying.

But if nobody had taught him, Gauss definitely couldn’t come up with something like this. Besides, even though Gauss is a devil, he’s always been super honest.

Wen Yan thought about Pei Tugou’s usual antics...

Well, now that he’s put himself in Gauss’s shoes, there’s no going back. That bro’s character persona is falling apart.

Wen Yan quickly bailed—Gauss is too dangerous.

Leaving the villa complex, he joined up with Feng Yao and gave her a quick rundown—it was resolved, just said that the Taoist had a sudden change of heart and got backlashed by his own secret technique.

He didn’t talk about the process, and Feng Yao didn’t ask for details.

That kind of tacit understanding, everyone in the crew had it.

Wen Yan roughly caught up on the other stuff.

The Taoist had hidden his tracks quite well on his way here, plus he carried bad luck on him—every field agent that tried to go after him would randomly get unlucky and miss their chance to find him.

Plenty of people were hurt, but nothing too serious. Still, when it comes to luck, nobody dares let their guard down.

Those field agents got put on paid leave, probably getting nice bonuses too—so, rare chance, everyone gets a break.

Wen Yan didn’t get into details, just let the Scorching Sun Department stay cautious, which was fine by him.

”There’s definitely someone behind the scenes this time, not just ghosts involved, but also the living.

On the ghost side, Lord Zhu settled some of it, but as for the humans...”

”Minister is already handling it.” Feng Yao added with emphasis.

Wen Yan heard that and didn’t say more.

”Anything else for me now?”

”Nothing for the time being.”

”Alright then, I got some personal stuff to take care of.”

Wen Yan strode away, and Feng Yao called Cai Qidong back.
