I Am Your Natural Enemy

Chapter 508: Chapter 205: Entanglement, Together Forever (5k) _3

At the same time, inside the Scorching Sun Department of Guanzhong County, an on-duty internal staff member immediately noticed a prompt on the computer.

A new player has been detected.

According to protocol, this means a house visit must be made for contact and persuasion. If the person refuses, the next steps are to be initiated.

The duty internal staff recorded the new information, filed it, and sent out the notice—that part would now be the field agent’s job.

Tomorrow morning, a field agent would pay a visit.

...

Inside the small temple, the statue remained motionless, quietly gazing at Nan Yuncai who was kneeling in worship.

As time passed, the decayed sections behind the statue had diminished by more than half.

But the brilliant light on Nan Yuncai’s back as he knelt in front of the statue began to rot, emitting a faint, moldy glow.

The entire night proved fruitless. Regretfully, Nan Yuncai left.

When he returned home, opened his eyes, pushed open the door, and turned on the light, he saw his wife huddled in a kitchen corner, the refrigerator door wide open, all sorts of things scattered across the floor.

His wife sat there, quietly sobbing. He hurried over to her.

”What’s wrong? Why are you sitting here? Come on, get up.”

His wife stretched out her arms and wrapped them around his neck, clinging tightly to him.

”Hubby, I find myself more and more unable to let you go. You’ve changed so much, become so much more caring.”

”I’m so scared—scared that one day, when I open my eyes, I’ll never see you again.”

”Promise me we’ll always be together, okay?”

”Of course. Be good, listen, get up quickly, the floor is cold. What do you want to eat? I’ll make it for you.”

”As long as you’ve promised. I thought about it all night—and I finally figured out how we can be together forever, no matter what we turn into.”

”Anything you want. There’s no heat in the kitchen, come on, let’s go back to the room. Just look at your hands—they’re ice cold.”

Nan Yuncai picked up his wife, who was hanging on him, and carried her toward the bedroom.

Yet, in places invisible to ordinary people, the yang energy and soul within him looked as if they were growing moldy.

Reflected in the glass outside the kitchen, his wife’s complexion had turned a deathly pale blue, her pupils slack and unfocused.

After three steps, his wife, head resting on his shoulder, wore a blissful smile, mumbling softly to herself.

”Hubby, you’re truly wonderful. I can’t bear to lose you, really can’t.”

”I’m so terribly afraid that one day someone will take you away, that you might leave me.”

Her face was aglow with a dangerous kind of happiness and anticipation as she opened her mouth and bared sharp teeth.

Those razor-sharp teeth pierced Nan Yuncai’s neck, going straight through his carotid artery.

Nan Yuncai was utterly shocked.

”What are you doing?”

He tried to push his wife’s head away, but she clung to him, her legs wrapped around his waist, her arms locked tightly around his neck, pressing herself tightly to his body.

Furious and terrified, he grabbed her hair, yanking at her head like a madman—a sickening crack sounded as bones snapped.

He managed to pull her off, but his own neck had been torn open in the process, blood spurting out, spraying across the ceiling.

”Hubby, you promised me. I’m truly terrified of losing you. You promised you’d stay with me forever.”

The reek of mold began to spread, blooming from Nan Yuncai’s body, with his own light unable to hold it back any longer.

As the blood spurted, he began to feel dizzy, his strength fading, until finally he collapsed to the ground.

Meanwhile, the corpse energy, ghostly aura, and yin qi on the woman’s body started to surge violently.

Once it reached a certain level, a nearby patrolling member of the Scorching Sun Department saw the alert flare up on their handheld scanning device.

The shrill, beeping alarm was like a dawn siren, ushering in a new day.

By the time the Scorching Sun Department arrived, they found a woman with blue-white skin mottled with corpse spots, sitting in a pool of blood, clutching the wide-eyed, hollow-gazed Nan Yuncai tightly in her arms.

All around them, blood soaked the floor; and the kitchen, with its scattered food from the fridge, was now rotting and riddled with mold.

Yet the woman sat there blissfully, eyes closed, perfectly still.

The field agent from the Scorching Sun Department, about to step inside, lost his footing on the doormat and slid backward, grabbing helplessly at the nearby shoe cabinet—only to bring the entire cabinet crashing down.

This toppled the tall entryway cabinet, which crashed into the two trailing behind him as well.

Soon after, the jolted wiring came loose, sending electric sparks fizzing, and the acrid smell of burning began to spread.

Ten minutes later, reinforcements arrived, but two people were stuck in the elevator, unable to get out for the time being.

The rest took the stairs, finally rotating out those who had entered before.

When the field agents at last made it inside, they moved carefully, glanced at the two corpses sitting by the kitchen entrance, and continued on to the bedroom.

On the bed, he saw a female ghost, her arms locked tight around a male ghost as she sat there blissfully, as if her wish had finally been fulfilled.

No matter how the male ghost struggled, he couldn’t break free from her gentle bosom—he was trapped in her embrace.

When he spotted the intruders, the male ghost immediately called out in terror.

”Help me, please, save me! This crazy woman’s going to strangle me!”

The field agent watched it all with cold eyes, pulled out his phone, and checked the files.

”Nan Yuncai, you’re already dead.”

”No! I’m not Nan Yuncai! I’m not Nan Yuncai!”

Upon hearing this, Nan Yuncai immediately went berserk, struggling wildly.

But the blissful-faced woman clung to him, chains growing from her body and latching onto Nan Yuncai’s soul, binding him tight.

”Hubby, you promised—you’d never leave me.”

”I am not Nan Yuncai!”

Half an hour later.

Wen Yan got the call.

”What? Another jinx? Are they going wholesale now!”

”Wait, what did you just say?”

”What’s that guy’s name again?”

”Nan Yuncai? He says he’s not Nan Yuncai?”
