I Am Your Natural Enemy

Chapter 504: Chapter 204: Clues, Statue (5k)_2

Lord Zhu’s face changed slightly when he heard this.

He’d heard before that Haidai County seemed to have recruited a Ghost: ox head, human body. Supposedly, his eyesight wasn’t great, except when he looked at other ghosts—then his eyes were freakishly sharp.

Plus, the guy was upright and incorruptible—even more like a member of the Scorching Sun Department than most of its members.

That was exactly why Lord Zhu hadn’t dared to make contact rashly.

He hadn’t expected the guy to be this ferocious, though—chasing down a ghost all the way into the Nether Path? Wasn’t that a little too wild? Not worried about getting lost in there?

Lord Zhu thought for a moment, recalling how Feng Wei had mentioned that Wen Yan seemed to have had contact with Ox-Head, so he messaged Wen Yan to ask exactly what Ox-Head’s deal was.

Better find out if this guy really is that ”impartial and utter stickler for the rules” type—eyes sharp enough to spot even a speck of dust.

Among his own ghosts, none of them had committed any major crimes, but a lot of them definitely qualified as ”specks of dust.”

After sending Wen Yan the message, Lord Zhu kept asking questions.

”You confirmed it was just a coincidence?”

”It does seem like a coincidence, but honestly, it’s a little too much of a coincidence.”

”Heh, then it’s not a coincidence. Even the Scorching Sun Department’s cameras didn’t catch it—someone’s definitely pulling strings behind the scenes. Keep digging. And check out that idol—it’s got something to do with ghosts, and maybe with fortune as well.”

...

Wen Yan got Lord Zhu’s message, glanced at it, and was a little shocked.

Is Niu Zhiqiang really that hardcore?

Chased a psycho so far, he ended up in the Nether Path?

But that psycho didn’t actually seem all that tough?

He thought for a bit, then quickly called up Niu Zhiqiang to ask—after all, Wen Yan was the one who’d provided the intel on that psycho. If it pissed Niu Zhiqiang off enough to make him ”Roar,” something must have happened.

When the call connected and Wen Yan asked a little, Niu Zhiqiang immediately started venting.

”Brother Wen, you have no idea how fucking sickening that psycho is. I wish I could kill him again.”

”Damn, you didn’t get hurt, right?”

”Nah, I’m fine. But my chains? They got contaminated.”

”Take it slow. Tell me everything.”

”Luckily you gave me the intel in advance, Brother Wen. I did a personal patrol in the county town, and sure enough, I tracked him down.

The dude is a real sicko. He treats the women’s bathroom like a cafeteria.

And now he’s gotten even worse—he just shows up in front of regular people, just to grab a hot meal or two. Like he’s worried someone will flush him away.

Scared the hell out of people—some of them are still in therapy.

In the end, it was the minister from Central Plains County who recruited them into the Scorching Sun Department as clerical staff.”

Wen Yan had to move his phone a bit farther away as he listened—the story, frankly, had a certain ”odor.”

The intel he’d gotten from Big Head Ghost’s domain was just that this ghost was a pervert—he hadn’t expected the sicko to be at this level.

”I lost it right then—now he’s even exposing himself in public.

If this goes on a few more days, what’s next? Getting even worse?

Is he gonna start grabbing people off the street and eating them like durian?

And who knows how messed up it could get down the road—maybe he’ll start kidnapping people, imprisoning them, and feeding them god knows what on a schedule.

Shit, I don’t even want to imagine it.”

”It can’t possibly get that bad...”

”It really can, Brother Wen. Maybe you don’t know, but I’ve read a shit ton of case files.

Criminals like this always escalate.

They’re never satisfied—always pushing the envelope, getting worse and worse.

They start stealing, then steal in front of people, then break into homes, and before you know it, they’re killing people when they get caught.

This has all been researched. Tons of real case studies.

And for ghosts like this, it’ll only get even worse, faster.

Thank god you gave me that intel—otherwise, those girls, they’d never even seen a ghost before. You threaten them a bit, they’re scared stiff, don’t even dare tell anyone.”

”And then what? How’d you end up chasing him into Luoyue County?”

”The bastard’s pretty good at running. In the sewers, he found a way into the Nether Path.

I’d just been made Field Agent, like hell I was gonna let him get away.

I chased him all the way into Luoyue County.

And you wouldn’t believe it—that freak, all cornered and covered in filth, started attacking everyone like a rabid animal.

One of the Field Agents who came to help from Luoyue County was so disgusted he almost puked up his own gallbladder.

The dude still can’t eat!

I had to kill the psycho in the street to stop him from going berserk and hurting any innocents.

And he got my chain all contaminated—the stench won’t wash off, not even burning it helps.”

”...”

Wen Yan could only imagine the nightmare scene: a ghost covered in shit, going berserk and lunging at anyone nearby.

And apparently, whatever the hell was on him actually had some terrifying effects.

Just thinking about it made Wen Yan go pale.

He was a martial artist—a proper close-combat professional...

Yep, just as he figured. It really took somebody as hardcore as Niu Zhiqiang to deal with a freak like that. No one else could’ve handled it.

”Your chain got contaminated? Can’t you get it cleaned? Maybe try washing it in the Yin River in the Nether Soul Realm—and if that doesn’t work, just call me, I’ll help you sort it out.”

”Thanks, Brother Wen. Seriously, if you hadn’t given me that intel in time, I don’t even want to think how many people would’ve gotten hurt, or had their lives ruined. Who knows how many girls might’ve ended up kidnapped... It’s too terrifying to think about.”

”...”

Wen Yan didn’t really know what to say at that point.
