The Darling of Heaven Owns a Rip-off Shop

Zhang Mengfei always says she’s not interested, doesn’t like it, but secretly looks at the things they buy. These actions, Huang Shiyuan and the others see, but no one exposes her.

Zhang Mengfei listens as Tianmiao and the others eat cake together, watch dramas together, turns her head, and slightly frowns.

In this month of university life, she’s learned a lot, seen a lot.

She deeply believes she was truly like a frog at the bottom of a well before. Before, she was the pride of her village, even the pride of the entire county. She was the top scorer in the county’s college entrance exam, the only one to get into University A. The county even gave her a five-thousand-yuan scholarship, and the village also rewarded her with two thousand yuan. This gave her money for tuition, with some left to buy a few things.

She bought two sets of new clothes, came to Capital S City full of excitement and anticipation for her college life.

But these feelings, after a month, have completely disappeared.

Now there’s only deep inferiority and unwillingness, along with resentment.

She thought she was excellent, but found out there are many people better than her at this university.

She thought she was naturally beautiful, but there were two ”white rich beauties” in her dormitory. One of them is even a campus queen!

Everything she was proud of, here, doesn’t mean much.

She could only pretend to be uninterested in those things she longed for, to maintain her dignity.

Especially the three people in her dormitory, Tianmiao and Han Ting seem to come from good families, their clothes and bags she’s seen online, and they’re not cheap. Even Huang Shiyuan has some expensive clothes and a couple of costly bags. The skincare and makeup products they use, she also secretly checked online. After seeing the price, she secretly did the math.

Her monthly living expenses are only five hundred, enough for just one bottle of the perfume they use.

The world is really unfair.

Why can they easily have things that are out of her reach?

...

”Tomorrow’s class is about the Emperor of Fortune and his mother,” said Huang Shiyuan excitedly while eating cake, ”finally, we’ll talk about the mother and son.”

”Yeah, hahaha, the class I’m most looking forward to,” Han Ting said excitedly while eating, ”Do you know? The place the Emperor of Fortune visited most in the harem, wasn’t the various concubines, but the Empress Dowager.”

”Yeah, their mother-son relationship is really good. Speaking of which, the Emperor of Fortune’s favorite women were four: Consort Rong, Consort An, Consort Mei, and Consort Lin. But in the end, he made the Crown Prince the eldest Prince born from the Empress.”

”Because he is a wise emperor. He only chooses the most suitable to be emperor, not his favorite child,” said Tianmiao. Although the fat son is sometimes emotional, he’s never vague on national affairs, very reliable. His Fortune is indeed strong, but he is truly a wise ruler.

”Right, right, under his rule, the country is a peaceful and prosperous time. Haha, I remember again his desire to personally lead the army. He ambitiously wanted to lead the army personally, everyone was hindering him, only the Empress Dowager remained unshaken by his side, even cheering for him. In the end, the enemy country fell into chaos by itself, severely hurting their Vitality. During the retreat, they even encountered an avalanche which buried many soldiers. Do you think the Empress Dowager was so calm because she knew her son was blessed by destiny and would avoid danger even if he did nothing?” Huang Shiyuan asked.

”That can’t be so mystical...” Han Ting said uncertainly, ”Maybe it’s just a mother’s unconditional support for her son?”
