The Darling of Heaven Owns a Rip-off Shop

Chapter 450: Chapter 13: Sunflower Facing the Apocalypse 13

”Makes a lot of sense. Who told you that?” Xu Yuxi asked.

”It was Lord Tianmiao. That day at the shop, the lord sitting while flipping through the notebook,” Little Green nodded, ”Lord Tianmiao is very powerful, extremely powerful.”

”I also think she’s very powerful. I wonder if we’ll meet again in the future.” Xu Yuxi said with some emotion.

”Fated meetings will happen naturally, just like me and my master, fate brought us together again,” Little Green continued earnestly.

Xu Yuxi’s originally heavy mood suddenly lightened. She scooped up Little Green and snuggled, ”Yes, we are destined!”

Early the next morning, the bank sent a special vehicle and personnel over to deliver the items Xu Yuxi had stored in the bank. The bank staff did not persuade Xu Yuxi to continue storing them nor did they ask why she was taking them out. For such high-level VIP customers, the staff knew what should and shouldn’t be said. Offending such a big client would not be worth the risk.

After carefully moving all the sealed items into the living room and confirming everything with Xu Yuxi’s signature, the bank staff took their leave.

Xu Yuxi called Zhou Shiqiu to help her organize all these things, and Zhou Shiqiu was amazed at the near half-living-room full of items. Many of them seemed ancient and unquestionably valuable.

”After the apocalypse, these items might be ignored for their intrinsic value. But I think, history and culture are invaluable treasures. I’ll preserve them first, and after the apocalypse is over, I’ll display them. I’m even thinking about establishing a museum, these treasures shouldn’t gather dust in some dark, secret room.” Xu Yuxi said while organizing, instructing Little Green to pack them away.

”Yuxi, you are truly amazing,” Zhou Shiqiu didn’t know how to praise Xu Yuxi more, so he could only use the word ’amazing.’

In the morning, the construction team also arrived. All the protective barriers were reinforced and thickened, the walls heightened and strengthened, and the gate was replaced with an extremely sturdy steel door. Xu Yuxi demanded that all the work be completed within a day, offering a substantial payment. The construction team didn’t ask much, as they were accustomed to dealing with affluent clients, and these requests were not considered unusual.

Moneyed people often lack a sense of security, so reinforcing things like this is quite normal.

By evening, the work was completed, and Xu Yuxi settled the payment with her bank card and saw off the construction team.

In the following days, Xu Yuxi and Zhou Shiqiu were like busy little hamsters, furiously storing things. Packages arrived continuously, and the two spent their days unpacking, organizing the items, while Little Green stored them away. When Little Green’s space was full, they stockpiled additional items in various rooms of the villa.

Meanwhile, global climate changes were underway, and dozens of natural disasters large and small occurred. Those paying attention sensed something amiss. During this time, the survival guide Xu Yuxi posted online rose to the hot search list, with more people viewing and discussing the thread. However, Xu Yuxi was unsure how many people truly believed in it.

On the day before the apocalypse arrived, Xu Yucheng called.

”Sis, I really believe what you said about the apocalypse coming. You should come back, I’ve prepared quite a lot of stuff.”

”No need, just take care of yourself. Stay home with your parents. The government will surely have countermeasures. We’ll see then. Are walls and the door reinforced? How about windows? Did you buy things like radios? Hurry up, maybe the world will change tomorrow.” Xu Yuxi said, ready to hang up.

”Sis, I’ll come pick you up tomorrow,” Xu Yucheng shouted.

”I said, no need! I’ll take care of myself. I’ve prepared well, and the guide I gave you, I’m better prepared than what I shared. You know why I refuse. Being in the same room with certain people, you’d better kill me—it would be better than living hell, you know what that feels like?” Xu Yuxi’s tone had worsened by this point.

Xu Yucheng paused before speaking softly, ”Sis, I’m sorry.”

”Don’t say sorry, I’m not blaming you, but some things can’t be changed by us. What’s happened can’t be undone. Don’t worry about me, I’ll be fine. I hope you will be too, live well. Leave that person to your care,” Xu Yuxi finished speaking and hung up.

Xu Yucheng held his phone for a while without speaking. The person his sister referred to, he knew, was their mutual father. But it seemed like a long time since his sister last called him dad.

Nightfall.

Pounding rain.

Xu Yuxi and Zhou Shiqiu didn’t sleep; they sat by the floor-to-ceiling window, watching the heavy rain outside by the light under the eaves.

”Am I seeing things? Why does this rain seem so murky?” Zhou Shiqiu asked in surprise.

”You’re not mistaken...” Xu Yuxi shook her head.

”Master, there’s something wrong with this rain. But humans have a saying, risk and benefit coexist. Ordinary people exposed to this rain might mostly be virus-infected and mutate. But those with strong physiques could be different. It would activate potential and awaken new powers,” Little Green stood on Xu Yuxi’s shoulder and said, contemplating before adding, ”A strong physique isn’t absolute, weaker ones might have a chance too. Human affairs aren’t always absolute.”

Xu Yuxi and Zhou Shiqiu exchanged a glance, then said in unison: ”Superpower?!” So the new powers Little Green mentioned are superpowers?

”Should we give it a try?” Xu Yuxi and Zhou Shiqiu began to feel eager.

In the apocalypse, having superpowers would significantly increase their survival odds.
