Medical Sage

Feeling the wary, almost fearful caution from Hales and even Old Brad behind him, the old man’s eyes narrowed slightly, and a faint, satisfied yet arrogant sneer touched his lips.

As one of the three Red Robed Archbishops of the Holy Church of the Divine Holy Church, he, Doberman Scaldoran, truly relished this reverence. He savored the fear from the crowd, who didn’t even dare to lift their heads in his presence.

This feeling of holding life and death in my hands, of looking down on the world... even making the current Clan Leader of a great Mafia family like Old Brad bow his noble head in submission before me! What an intoxicating sense of superiority! This feeling is truly magnificent!

This was the very power and influence that he, Doberman Scaldoran, possessed. Ever since he became a legendary SSS Level Powerhouse and was subsequently promoted to one of the exalted Red Robed Archbishops of the Holy Church of the Divine Holy Church, all of this had become increasingly evident.

Even a Mafia Great Family like the Brad Family, regardless of their power or standing in the European Dark World, had to tread with extreme caution before him. They wouldn’t even dare to casually raise their heads. This was the essence of power—an incredibly delightful thing that people flocked to, as intoxicating as a poppy.

As for why a major figure from the Holy Church of the Divine Holy Church like him would appear here today, the reason was quite simple. He had come because of the incident with Hales’s severed arm. He wanted to see for himself just what kind of person would dare to disrespect their Holy Church of the Divine Holy Church.

Harming someone from their Church was bad enough, but to go so far as to rip Hales’s arm clean off was an outrageous offense! What was this? A complete disregard for their Holy Church of the Divine Holy Church? Or was it just brazen, unbridled arrogance?

Their Holy Church of the Divine Holy Church had long commanded respect in the Western Dark World. Their power and influence reached every corner, determining the fate of lesser beings. This upstart was probably not even born when their dominance began. And now? Someone dared to cause trouble right under their noses, even crippling their Church’s foremost Red Robed Bishop by tearing off his arm. What the fuck was this if not humiliation and provocation? They were practically begging to die!

It was for precisely these reasons that he, Doberman Scaldoran, had come here in person, to demand an explanation from that foolhardy individual. Did they really think the members of their Church were so easy to push around?

If this matter wasn’t handled properly and word got out, it would be a devastating blow to the status and reputation of their Holy Church of the Divine Holy Church. Having their foremost Red Robed Bishop crippled, his arm torn off in public—how was this different from an open declaration of war? Such an act clearly showed that the perpetrator held them in complete contempt. For a major power like theirs, face and authority were everything.

Therefore, if their Church couldn’t deal with such a blatant act of humiliation and provocation decisively and forcefully, rumors might spread that they had gone ’soft’. For them, that was the true catastrophe, as it would mean a total loss of face.

”I knew they wouldn’t just let it go after Mr. Chen dealt with Hales so severely, even tearing off his arm. But I never expected them to move this quickly, or for Archbishop Doberman to come in person…” Old Brad said, standing a short distance from the archbishop, his expression full of concern as he spoke to the family elder beside him.

That person was none other than Duke Ovilia, another elder of the Brad Family.

”Sigh,” Duke Ovilia shook his head, a look of deep worry and unease clouding his eyes. ”We all know Mr. Chen is powerful. Otherwise, he couldn’t have easily crippled an SS+ Level Powerhouse like Hales and broken his arm, not to mention what happened with the Ashford Family. But now, Archbishop Doberman himself has come… sigh.”

The more he spoke, the paler Duke Ovilia became, a sheen of cold sweat forming on his forehead. To the Blood Clan, a Light-type SSS Level Powerhouse from the Holy Church of the Divine Holy Church—a legendary Red Robed Archbishop—was a truly invincible existence. More importantly, the innate advantage their holy power held over the Blood Clan inspired a deep, instinctual fear within them.

So now, even though they knew Chen Fei, Mr. Chen, possessed the strength to contend with an SSS Level Powerhouse, Archbishop Doberman’s personal arrival still filled them with dread and apprehension. After all, if Mr. Chen couldn’t defeat him, Archbishop Doberman was not the type to show mercy. And even if he won, they would still have to face the Holy Church of the Divine Holy Church, that colossal behemoth looming behind him. With things having escalated this far, would they really let the matter drop so easily?

Sigh!

The more Duke Ovilia thought, the more he sighed, his eyes consumed with worry. Hearing him, Old Brad felt the same sinking feeling.

BOOM!

RUMBLE… RUMBLE… RUMBLE…

At that moment, the Sealing Stone Gate began to shake violently, a deafening rumble echoing from its surface.

”Hm?”

Archbishop Doberman’s ancient eyes narrowed as he gazed at the trembling stone gate, a look of surprise and amusement flickering in his expression.

Is it about to come out? I wonder what’s inside the seal. An existence from the Holy Domain of the Upper Realm, gravely injured and near death? I wonder if they left behind any precious treasures… heh.

So, the old man was harboring such greedy thoughts. Then again, no one was a fool. If the existence sealed within had nothing of value, would the Brad Family have gone to such lengths, inviting so many people to help with the siege?

Heh, it’s rare for me, Doberman Scaldoran, to make a trip out here. I might as well take something back with me, right? It wouldn’t do to return empty-handed…

As he indulged in his fantasy, the expressions of the others shifted, each revealing different emotions.

”Is it coming out? I wonder if Lord Prince and the others succeeded?” Old Brad, Duke Ovilia, and the other Brad Family elders grew tense, muttering among themselves. This was, without a doubt, the most crucial matter for their family. If they failed, their future would be grim. Once freed, the being from the Holy Domain would surely come after their family for revenge.

It seemed those of their insufficient rank and status were unaware of the true situation within the seal. They were still in the dark, thinking of a ’gravely wounded, near-death existence from the Holy Domain’. Heh…

”So that little bastard is finally coming out! He really kept me waiting. But soon, you’ll learn what true despair feels like! A yellow-skinned monkey like you should never have provoked someone as noble and great as me, Hales! I am the foremost Red Robed Bishop of the Holy Church of the Divine Holy Church, and Archbishop Doberman will certainly take your life! Hahaha! HAHAHAHA!”

Standing behind Archbishop Doberman, Hales stared fixedly at the violently shaking Sealing Stone Gate, his face twisting into a ferocious snarl. The memory of that humiliating day contorted his features with rage. Clearly, he harbored an intense, venomous hatred for Chen Fei, Young Master Chen. He wanted him dead, as only that could appease the grudge he held for his severed arm.

His confidence, of course, stemmed from the great Archbishop Doberman and his terrifying SSS Level strength. He was certain the archbishop would slaughter that little bastard, that yellow-skinned monkey!

WHOOSH! WHOOSH! WHOOSH…

A piercingly bright light suddenly erupted from within the Sealing Stone Gate. As the light faded, several figures appeared.

”Are we finally out? Phew… Hmm?” one of the figures muttered before their brow furrowed sharply.

”Archbishop Doberman?” someone exclaimed in surprise, recognizing the imposing figure.

”Is that you?”

Chen Fei, Young Master Chen, finally got a clear look at the situation outside. His brow furrowed slightly. His pitch-black, crystal-clear eyes first fell on Hales’s twisted, furious face before shifting to the sneering, mocking old man at the forefront. A flicker of surprise crossed his eyes, which then became completely expressionless. Inwardly, however, he felt a sense of helplessness.

Heh, look at this setup. Has that idiot brought reinforcements to get revenge on me? But… it’s just one SSS Level old man? Sigh, I really can’t muster any interest or energy for this. It can’t be helped. After everything that just happened, I’m exhausted. I really don’t have the time to play games with these morons.

Unfortunately for him, while he felt that way, the others certainly did not.

”You little bastard, you’re finally out! You really kept us waiting a long, long time…”

Finally spotting Chen Fei among the figures, Hales strode forward, his face a mask of savagery. He pointed a finger straight at Chen Fei’s nose and boasted arrogantly, ”But did you think you could just hide and get away with it? Don’t think for a second that this is over. You dared to touch me, Hales? Today, our Church’s great Archbishop Doberman will slaughter you and take your pathetic life! You can just fucking wait for your coffin!”

”What? Hales, he’s the one who broke your arm? How can he be so young…?” At that moment, Archbishop Doberman’s expression changed abruptly, his pupils contracting.

He couldn’t help it. Even for a paramount figure like him, who had weathered countless storms and witnessed endless strange events, the sight of Hales pointing at and cursing a young Easterner who looked to be in his twenties at most sent a jolt through him. His face clouded with bewilderment and uncertainty.

Could it be… was it really this young man, who can’t be more than twenty-something, who broke Hales’s arm? But… but how old is this kid? Even if he started his cultivation in the womb, there’s no way he could get this strong in just twenty or thirty years! If that’s true, then has my entire life of cultivation been a complete waste?!
