Reborn and Counterattack: The CEO's Powerful Sweetheart

Chapter 1206: Chapter 1205: Sister-in-Law’s Skillful Hands

Liu Yu was a very virtuous woman. As soon as Chen Pi said there would be guests at home, she started preparing early in the morning.

The moment the door was pushed open, the first thing that floated out was the rich smell of food filling the house. All kinds of farmhouse side dishes, pretty much every rural dish you could name, Liu Yu had them all prepared.

She had actually thought about making some special city-style dishes, but no matter how she tried, she just couldn’t get that city flavor. She figured she might as well cook the village specialties and let them have a taste of something different.

Xia Xi teased her, saying, ”Your hands really are magical, sis. Last time I ate here, I just didn’t want to leave.”

Back when she’d visited Chen Pi’s place before, it had also been Liu Yu who did the cooking.

Three meals a day, each one different from the last, never repeating a dish.

Even someone like Xia Xi, who was used to fine delicacies from mountains and seas, had to admit Liu Yu’s cooking skills were excellent.

Liu Yu got a little shy and said softly, ”It’s all just farmhouse food, home cooking, that’s all. If there’s anything you especially like, just tell me, and next time I’ll make it for you.”

Liu Yu knew these two were Chen Pi’s rich patrons; what Chen Pi earned in a whole year couldn’t compare to what they spent in a short stay.

Chen Pi had reminded her over and over that she must take good care of them, saying that if the home-cooked food could make them stay a few more days, that would be something he dreamed of.

Liu Yu started dishing out the rice, then smiled and said, ”This one is cousin Yueyue, and this one is...”

The last few times Xia Xi had come by, she had been pretending to be Chen Pi’s cousin Yueyue; Liu Yu knew that.

Now, all of a sudden, there was another person added in, and Liu Yu couldn’t quite figure out who this one was supposed to be.

Or rather, which family’s relative Chen Pi wanted her to pretend to be.

Chen Pi burst out laughing and said, ”This is your third younger sister, Liu Si.”

”Liu Si, huh...” Liu Yu added another ladle of rice and smiled. ”Liu Si hasn’t been home for a long time. She’s actually a pretty good choice.”

Chen Pi also thought this was a good idea and said, ”In a bit, remember to tell sis here about Liu Si. Just go over some simple things, even childhood stuff is fine.”

Chen Pi had had a few dealings with Xia Xi and understood their fast-paced way of doing things; everything they did revolved around one word: ”fast.”

So being able to convey all the information in the shortest possible time was exactly what they would want too.

”Things in my family are a bit complicated to explain. That third sister of mine is the worst when it comes to talking...”

Liu Yu understood her role, so she sat down next to Gu Tong first and started telling her everything about Liu Si.

This was exactly what Gu Tong wanted. Sometimes she would raise two or three questions, and the back-and-forth Q&A went very smoothly.

Xia Xi didn’t need so much trouble. She had long since fully stepped into the role of cousin Yueyue and had it down pat. She’d even memorized the names of all the aunts and distant relatives in the family until they rolled off her tongue, completely natural. She said, ”So, anything new going on in the village lately?”

”The village is such a tiny place. How could there be anything really new?” Chen Pi chuckled, then said, ”If we really have to talk about something fresh, I’m afraid it’s only that there’s been trouble at the graveyard again.”

”The graves?” Xia Xi raised an eyebrow. ”Go on.”

Chen Pi laughed and said, ”We’re pretty close to the city here, and everyone in the city knows we’ve got burial plots, so a lot of city folks want to move their ancestors’ graves over here.

But the old village chief won’t agree, and back when the plots were parceled out, no one knows which family it was, but some filthy rich people bought up a section of the graveyard, wanting to turn it into their ancestral cemetery.”
