Reborn and Counterattack: The CEO's Powerful Sweetheart

Chapter 1195: Chapter 1194: Trouble? Just Short of Money

”Trouble? Short on money...” The young nurse’s understanding was limited, and she couldn’t imagine what other trouble they might have.

Moreover, for patients visiting the hospital nowadays, the biggest trouble was lacking money, so the young nurse instinctively thought that way.

However...

The young nurse carefully took stock of the couple’s attire; looking at them, they didn’t seem like people lacking money.

Gu Tong sniffed, forcibly squeezing out a few tears, saying, ”Little girl, you’re not married, you don’t know the sufferings after marriage. People from my hometown strongly prefer boys over girls, to an alarming degree, it’s quite scary...”

The young nurse was slightly startled and said, ”But... you’re already about to give birth... how does the preference for boys matter now...”

Gu Tong simply cut to the chase without hesitation and directly took out a blood bag, saying, ”This blood here, I prepared it in advance, it’s fake...”

The young nurse covered her mouth: ”Fake? But why...”

Xia Xi was full of question marks: ”...” Aren’t you afraid they’ll kick you out of the car? You actually told the truth...

Clearly, their tacit understanding was not working at this moment.

However...

This is the difference in profession!

Xia Xi didn’t know that after entering the ambulance, they would do a thorough examination—listening to fetal sounds, measuring blood pressure, checking blood sugar, measuring heartbeat, body temperature, and other data, especially for pregnant women who need more tests.

Gu Tong now had her belly covered with torn cloths, and most terrifyingly, there was also a handgun; if the young nurse insisted on checking...

Then...

They might fear being caught by the police car.

Gu Tong wiped the golden tears at the corners of her eyes, angrily pointing at Xia Xi, and shouted, ”My husband’s mom is a rural woman, strongly biased towards boys! She brought me to the city this time specifically for a B ultrasound to check the baby’s gender...”

The young nurse gasped: ”The baby is already so big, still being dragged out to check the gender...”

Moreover, by looking at Gu Tong’s belly, it’s probably seven or eight months along, about to give birth, and still doing such checks, the mother-in-law is really excessive...

Gu Tong ’cried’ intensely, saying, ”Actually... when I was four months pregnant, I had a prenatal checkup, the doctor said it’s a daughter... I didn’t dare to tell my mother-in-law, just kept delaying, lying to her saying it’s a boy, but just a few days ago, she said my belly is round, it’s clearly a girl, and pulled me to do a prenatal checkup...”

There’s an old saying—if the belly is round, it’s a girl, if pointy, it’s a boy. The elders don’t care if it’s accurate or not, they just spread it like word of mouth.

The young nurse said, somewhat anxiously, ”This can’t be hidden forever, you can’t just deceive...”

The current medical protection measures are not perfect. Usually, around four months, a checkup is done. This pregnant woman, since four months, has been hiding it, it’s really tough...

Gu Tong wiped away her tears, saying, ”There’s no choice, now we are all single-child families. If I have more than one child, I’ll be fined. If this baby is a girl, I won’t have a chance to have a boy later, so... if my mother-in-law is certain, she will definitely force me to abort...”

This is the reality, a couple can only have one child. Many pregnant women are troubled and harmed by the preference for boys, walking on thin ice, and still have to watch their in-laws’ faces.

If not for this reason, Longxing Country later wouldn’t have specifically formulated new regulations prohibiting prenatal fetal gender checks. It’s important to understand, this inhumane practice is terrifying, how many baby girls have been tragically killed by ultrasounds before they even have the chance to be born.
