Myriad Heavens: Rise of the Rune God

Chapter 72: Chapter 72: Quasar Metamorphosis 1

RUNAR’S CONSCIOUSNESS DETONATED.

The soul bomb detonated at the core of Runar’s consciousness.

His soul disintegrated instantly. Quadrillions of fragments where there had been trillions before. The pieces scattered across distances that made galaxies look like grains of sand, each one carrying a sliver of awareness that screamed without sound.

Runar stopped existing as a person.

He became pain given form. Quadrillions of screaming fragments, each experiencing its own private hell. Some burned. Others froze solid. The worst ones did both simultaneously, cycling between extremes faster than thought.

His consciousness tried to hold together through sheer will.

It didn’t work.

The fragments drifted further apart, threads of connection stretching and snapping. He felt himself dissolving, not just physically but conceptually. The idea of ”Runar Cross” was coming apart at the seams.

Then something changed.

The pseudo-Chaos essence activated somewhere in the void. Runar couldn’t see it—didn’t have eyes anymore—but he felt it spread through the scattered fragments like ink dropped in water.

The system description had warned him this wasn’t pure Chaos. Just crystallized energy from dimensional rifts, a pale imitation of the real thing.

Turned out a pale imitation was still pretty fucking effective.

The essence coated each fragment, and the agony shifted. Still hurt like hell, but the pain had direction now. Purpose. Like the difference between being stabbed randomly versus undergoing surgery—both involved cutting, but one was trying to fix you.

The fragments started moving. Slowly at first, then faster. Drawing together through forces Runar didn’t understand and couldn’t control.

Two fragments touched.

Light burst from the contact point. Golden-silver radiance mixed with something else, something that looked like starlight filtered through broken reality.

The fragments merged, and Runar felt the first hint of coherent thought in what might have been seconds or centuries. Hard to tell when your sense of time was scattered across quadrillions of pieces.

Four fragments collided next. More light. More pain. But also more awareness. Runar could think again, which was both a blessing and a curse.

The mergers accelerated. Eight became one. Sixteen compressed together in a flash of brilliance that would’ve blinded anyone watching.

Quadrillions became trillions, and the light grew brighter with each combination.

The process wasn’t gentle. Fragments slammed into each other with enough force to crack reality, fusing through brute spiritual pressure rather than careful integration. Each collision released energy—massive amounts of it, radiating outward like miniature supernovas.

Runar realized what was happening through the haze of agony.

His soul wasn’t just recombining. It was undergoing fusion. Spiritual fusion, like stars creating heavier elements by smashing atoms together. Smaller pieces colliding to create something new, releasing cosmic-level energy in the process.

Trillions became billions. The gray void of the Comprehension Space lit up like someone had ignited a sun inside it.

His awareness continued returning. Made the whole thing worse, honestly. Being conscious enough to understand what was happening to you while it happened was its own special torture.

Billions compressed to millions. The light was blinding now, even to spiritual perception.

Millions became thousands as the final stages approached.

The last fragments spiraled toward the center. Pulled by something stronger than gravity, faster than thought. They hit the core simultaneously.

Chain reaction.

FUSION IGNITION.

Runar’s soul exploded outward.

This wasn’t destruction. This was eruption. His consciousness detonated like a star going supernova, except he was the star and the explosion was evolution compressed into a single instant.

Energy waves radiated from the core, warping spiritual space around them. The pseudo-Chaos essence held the structure together—barely—preventing total annihilation while letting the transformation run its course.

The explosion peaked. Light flooded every corner of the Comprehension Space, turning gray void into brilliant white.

Mind you all of this was happening within his body.

Then gravity reversed.

The radiating energy stopped expanding and started falling back inward, pulled by forces the pseudo-Chaos essence had established during the merger. But it wasn’t returning to what it had been.

Something new was forming.

The energy compressed into a disk. Spinning. Rotating faster and faster around a central point that blazed with contained power.

A quasar.

The core was a singularity even denser than his Black Hole soul had been, but this one was active. Alive. It poured out massive amounts of energy while simultaneously pulling in more, creating a self-sustaining cycle that generated power on scales Runar’s previous soul realms couldn’t match.

Jets of spiritual energy erupted from the poles. Perfectly straight beams extending outward into the void, each one carrying enough force to annihilate planets.

The disk spun faster. The jets intensified. The core burned brighter.

Peak Black Hole → Early Quasar Realm

Done.

Runar hung in the gray void—gray again now that the light had settled—with a soul that had been completely rewritten at the fundamental level.

The pain stopped.

Exhaustion hit like a truck.

His soul felt powerful and hollow at the same time. Like someone had taken everything he was, squeezed it past its absolute limits, then forced it even further. The quasar structure was stable, yes. Functional. But running on fumes after the most intense transformation yet.

Sleep...

Consciousness faded before he could finish the thought.

Fifteen subjective years passed.

Fifteen years of unconsciousness. His Quasar soul healed during that time, stabilized, integrated the changes. The Comprehension Space’s properties kept everything uniform, prevented deviation.

When Runar woke, he felt incredible.

The exhaustion was gone. Replaced by strength that made his previous soul realms feel like warm-ups. His perception had sharpened to the point where he could sense individual spiritual particles floating in the void. Thoughts flowed faster, clearer. Processing speed through the roof.

The quasar structure generated energy continuously. Fed it back into his consciousness in a self-sustaining loop. He didn’t just feel stronger—he felt complete.

Third metamorphosis done. Pseudo-Chaos essence worked. Fifteen years of recovery, longest one yet.

He checked external time through the soul connection.

Eighty-seven days. Just under three months in the real world.

The clone was still active. Still operating. He could feel it through their shared soul—healthy, experienced, managing academy life while he’d been locked in cultivation.

Three months for everyone else. Two and a half centuries for me. Time to see if this was worth it.

Runar extended his awareness to the Rule-fused body floating in the Infinite Qi Realm outside the Comprehension Space.

Move the right hand. Make a fist.

The hand moved. Smooth. Precise. Exactly as intended.

Zero spatial warping. Zero accidental destruction. Just a hand making a fist.

Good. Try something harder. Stand up in zero gravity, then walk.

His body rotated smoothly, aligning to vertical. One foot moved forward.

Normal walking speed. Controlled movement. The formations didn’t even flicker.

Excellent. Now a technique.

He reached into his Universal Seed dantian and gathered qi. Carefully. The energy flowed out at exactly the rate he wanted—no flooding torrents, no loss of control.

It formed a sphere above his palm. Compressed. Stable. Under his complete command.

The sphere contained enough power to vaporize multiple galaxies, sure. But it was his to control. He could adjust size, density, power output with a thought.

He dispersed it safely.

Full control achieved.

Relief washed through him. Three months external. Two hundred fifty-two years subjective. Millions of cutting cycles. Three metamorphoses. Decades of recovery sleep.

But it worked.

His soul could finally handle his body.

Runar pulled up his status through the system interface.

He examined the readout. Two hundred fifty-two years compressed into three months. Lifetimes spent cutting and healing his soul, undergoing catastrophic transformations, sleeping for decades.

Done now. Balanced. In control.

One last thing. Reabsorb the clone.

Through the soul connection, he reached out to the clone operating somewhere in the real world.

The clone responded instantly. Same soul, different body. Always connected.

Time to come home.

The clone understood. Had been waiting for this moment.

Runar initiated the reabsorption sequence built into the Runic Clone technique.

The clone’s body dissolved wherever it was—not dying, just converting back to spiritual energy. The 5% soul fragment that had animated it for three months flowed back through the connection.

Runar felt it approaching. Carrying three months of memories, experiences, knowledge.

The fragment reached him and touched his main soul.

Something unexpected happened.

The fragment was still Peak Supernova realm—the level when it had separated, before all the soul tempering began. Weaker by several major realms.

But the instant it touched his Early Quasar soul, it started transforming.

The quasar structure pulled it in like gravity. As the fragment spiraled through the rotating spiritual disk, it underwent rapid compression.

Peak Supernova became Peak Neutron Star in seconds.

Peak Neutron Star compressed to Early Black Hole.
