Myriad Heavens: Rise of the Rune God

Chapter 55: Chapter 55: The Cosmic Vessel

Inside The Shuttle

The shuttle was now flying through an enormous enclosed space—a hangar bay so vast that clouds had formed near its ceiling. The bay stretched for hundreds of kilometers in every direction, making Telstra’s largest spaceports look like children’s toys.

”Welcome aboard the Absolute Infinity,” Korvan announced. ”Let me give you some statistics while we approach the docking platform.”

He pulled up holographic displays showing the ship’s specifications. He then used his hand and motion led a swipe to transfer the holographic screen to them.

The Absolute Infinity - Cosmic Battleship Class

Length: 150,000 kilometers

Width: 50,000 kilometers

Height: 30,000 kilometers

Mass: Equivalent to a small moon

Power Source: Contained artificial star (Primordial-grade fusion reactor)

Interior Space: Millions of times larger than exterior suggests due to Space Rule manipulation

Contains: Entire ecosystems, training grounds, cities, pocket dimensions, cultivation zones

”The ship is larger than most habitable planets,” Korvan continued. ”Interior spatial expansion means we have roughly 10^15 cubic kilometers of usable space. That’s enough room for the entire human population of the Federation with space left over.”

Celestia’s eyes widened. ”That’s... impossible.”

”No, just very expensive,” Korvan corrected. ”The spatial expansion formations alone cost more than most Galactic economies. The Absolute Infinity is one of only twelve Cosmic Battleship Class vessels in the entire Federation.”

”Battleship?” Runar noted. ”I thought this was a transport.”

”It is—now,” Korvan said. ”Originally, this was a frontline warship used during the Great Expansion Wars five thousand years ago. After the wars ended, the Federation repurposed several cosmic battleships for important transport duties. Prime Origin Academy students are considered critical assets, so they get escort by actual warships disguised as transports.”

He gestured to the hangar around them. ”Everything you see—the defensive formations, the military crew, the weapons systems—it’s all still functional. If pirates or hostile forces attack, the Absolute Infinity can defend itself and eliminate threats up to and including a whole galaxy cluster”

Staff Composition:

Red Giant Realm: Standard crew - Millions (maintenance, operations, logistics) Supernova Realm: Soldiers and guards - Thousands (security, patrol, combat) Neutron Star Realm: Captains - Hundreds (command, specialized operations)

Black Hole Realm: Commanders - 20 (strategic command, elite response)

Quasar Realm: General - 1 (Supreme Commander Astral Rexonar, overall authority)

”The crew alone,” Korvan noted, ”has more cultivation power than most planetary governments. Commander Rexonar could destroy half of the universe if ordered to. The ship itself, at full combat capability, could sterilize a galaxy cluster.”

He said it casually, but the implication was clear: this wasn’t just a transport. It was a show of force. A demonstration of Federation power. A message to anyone who might consider interfering with Prime Origin Academy candidates.

The shuttle descended toward a docking platform—one of hundreds visible throughout the massive hangar.

Hangar Bay

As they disembarked, Runar’s Runic Omniscient Eyes activated automatically, scanning everything.

The hangar was a masterwork of engineering and cultivation. Every surface was covered with overlapping formation arrays—defensive shields, spatial locks, energy barriers, detection grids. Some were Divine-grade. Many were Supreme-grade. A few...

Rule-level formations, Runar realized with shock. The spatial locks use actual Space Rule comprehension, not just Law-level techniques. Breaking in here would require Rule-level power.

The ambient qi density was staggering. Where Telstra’s richest cultivation zones had qi density perhaps 10x normal, here it was 10,000,000x normal atmospheric levels.

An insect breathing here long enough would evolve into something that could destroy planets, Runar thought. The energy saturation is absurd.

Other shuttles were docking around them. Through the viewports, Runar could see other candidates emerging—representatives from different worlds across the galactic cluster.

Some looked human. Others... didn’t.

An group of candidates with crystalline skin that refracted light into rainbow patterns. A tall figure with four arms and eyes that glowed with inner fire. Several individuals who appeared elven, with pointed ears and impossibly graceful movements.

”Genetic modification is common in some worlds,” Korvan explained, noticing their interest. ”Others are natural variants that evolved in different environments. The Federation encompasses thousands of distinct human subspecies. You’ll see considerable diversity at the academy.”

He gestured forward. ”Now, if you’ll follow me, Vice-Captain Meridian is waiting to escort you to the candidate gathering.”

Meeting Vice-Captain Meridian

She was waiting at the end of the docking platform—a severe-looking woman with Neutron Star realm cultivation that made the air shimmer around her. Her uniform was impeccable, her posture military-perfect, and her expression suggested she had no patience for foolishness.

”Candidates Cross and Stormwind,” she said crisply. ”I am Vice-Captain Meridian. You will address me as Vice-Captain or ma’am. I will be overseeing this cluster’s candidates for the duration of the journey. Follow me.”

She turned and walked without waiting to see if they’d comply, clearly expecting obedience.

Runar and Celestia exchanged glances and followed.

Korvan gave them an encouraging nod. ”She’s strict but fair. Don’t take it personally—she treats everyone like potential recruits.”

They walked through corridors that would have been streets in a normal city. The scale was overwhelming—ceilings hundreds of meters high, passages wide enough for dozens to walk abreast, everything built to accommodate both normal humans and whatever else might need to move through.

”The Absolute Infinity houses a permanent population of approximately five billion,” Meridian said without slowing her pace. ”Crew, families, support staff, researchers. The ship is effectively a mobile planet-nation. You will be confined to designated candidate areas unless granted special permission.”

They passed dozens of crew members—Red Giant and Supernova realm cultivators going about their duties. Each one was more powerful than the strongest cultivators on Telstra, yet here they were just ordinary workers.

Finally, they reached a pair of massive doors—twenty meters tall, carved with intricate scenes of cosmic battles.

”Beyond these doors is the candidate reception hall,” Meridian said. ”The other forty-seven candidates from your galactic cluster are already assembled. You will have one hour of social time before quarter assignments and orientation. Questions?”

”No, ma’am,” Runar said.

”No, Vice-Captain,” Celestia added.

”Good.” Meridian pressed her hand to a scanner, and the doors began to open. ”Remember—you represent not just yourselves, but your worlds. Conduct yourselves appropriately.”

The doors swung fully open, revealing an enormous hall beyond.

”Enter.”

The Gathering.

The reception hall was the size of a stadium—easily capable of holding thousands. Right now, it held forty-seven young cultivators, all standing in small groups, sizing each other up.

The hall itself was lavish beyond description. Floating formations created gentle lighting. Tables laden with spirit fruits and cultivation delicacies lined the walls. Comfortable seating areas were scattered throughout. Everything screamed Federation wealth and power.

As Runar and Celestia entered, conversations faltered. Heads turned. Eyes tracked their movement.

Spiritual senses reached out—multiple candidates simultaneously trying to gauge the newcomers’ power.

And that was a mistake.

Spiritual sense scanning was technically legal, but culturally complex. Among allies or in public spaces, it was unaccepted. And directed scanning—the kind that tried to deeply analyze someone’s cultivation—was an invasion of privacy. Rude at best, hostile at worst.

Seven candidates did it anyway.

Their spiritual senses touched Runar and Celestia’s auras, trying to assess cultivation level, physique grade, Law comprehension...

And encountered something utterly incomprehensible.

From the scanners’ perspectives:

The girl... what? Her cultivation feels like... an ocean? No, a frozen cosmos. Ice that could shatter space. Five distinct Law signatures at... perfect mastery? That’s impossible. She’s too young to—

The boy... error. Reading error. His cultivation is... how? I can vaguely sense over multiple different Laws? Each one at 100%? And his base energy density is... this feels like pressure from Grandmaster back home. But Grandmaster is Neutron Star realm! How can someone at Satellite Orbit—

Runar felt the invasive spiritual senses and made a decision.

He released a targeted wisp of his aura—not visible to anyone except the seven who’d scanned him. Just pressure. Just presence. Just a fraction of what he actually was.

To those seven, it felt like staring into an abyss that stared back.

One candidate—a noble-looking young man with gold-threaded robes—stumbled backward, eyes wide with terror. ”Monster!” he shrieked, then collapsed, unconscious before hitting the ground.

Another—a woman with shadow affinity—tried to flee, took three steps, and fainted.

A third actually wet himself before passing out.

The remaining four either fainted immediately or, in one case, started babbling incoherently about ”abyssal demons” before medical staff were called.

To everyone else in the hall, it looked like seven candidates had suddenly gone insane simultaneously.

Conversations stopped entirely. Everyone stared at the seven unconscious or incoherent candidates, then at the two newcomers who’d just entered and done... nothing? Visibly?

Medical soldiers rushed in—Supernova realm cultivators with healing specializations. They quickly assessed the fallen candidates, confusion evident on their faces.

”No external injuries,” one medic reported. ”No poison, no technique residue. But their spiritual seas are in shock. Like they encountered something that overwhelmed their perception.”

”Take them to medical bay,” commanded a senior soldier. ”Run full diagnostics.”

As the medics carried away the victims, the remaining forty candidates came to an obvious conclusion:

When these two entered, seven people tried to scan them. And got destroyed for it.

The implication was clear. These newcomers—Runar Cross and Celestia Stormwind—were dangerous. Possibly more dangerous than anyone else in this room.

Smart candidates filed that information away and kept their spiritual senses to themselves.

Less smart candidates began plotting.

Notable Candidates - Introductions

1. Khan Storm - Male, appeared 25, actually 18

He stood with a group of military-looking candidates, lightning crackling faintly around his fingers. Satellite Orbit Stage 92, with Lightning Law at 23% and Storm Law at 19%.

”Those two,” he muttered, watching Runar and Celestia. ”They did something to those scanners. Probably some defensive talisman.”

His companion, a fellow Storm clan member, disagreed. ”No talisman could affect seven people simultaneously with that precision. They’re strong, Khan. Really strong.”

Khan’s eyes lingered on Celestia. ”The woman. She’s beautiful. And powerful. I like challenges.”

Bloodline Note: Khan came from the Storm bloodline—descendants of an ancient Thunder Phoenix. His bloodline made Lightning and Storm comprehension natural, almost instinctive. Where normal cultivators struggled for decades to grasp Laws, Khan’s bloodline let him understand storm-related principles with relative ease. But that ease was also a limitation—his comprehension depth, while advanced for his age, was still only 23%. Natural talent took him far, but true mastery required more than genetics.

2. Lyra Moon - Female, appeared 23, actually 16

She watched from a corner, her Illusion Law at 31% casting subtle distortions around her. Satellite Orbit Stage 67, Shadow Law at 27%.

That young man, she thought, observing Runar. Handsome, powerful, mysterious. Perfect target for alliance.

Her merchant family had taught her: the best investments were made early. If she could establish connection with someone who terrified seven candidates without visible effort...

She smoothed her dress and prepared her approach.

Bloodline Note: Lyra descended from Shadow Dreamers—beings who existed partially outside normal reality. Her bloodline granted natural affinity for illusions and shadows, making Law comprehension in those areas significantly easier. But like all bloodline advantages, it was a double-edged sword. Her comprehension, while impressive, was still incomplete. She could manipulate illusions but didn’t fully understand their fundamental principles.

3. Thane Ironfist - Male, appeared 28, actually 22

A mountain of a man with Earth Law at 35% and Metal Law at 29%. Satellite Orbit Stage 103. He came from a mining world where cultivation meant survival.

He studied Runar and Celestia with professional interest. ”No aristocratic airs. They move like fighters, not nobles. Respect.”

Unlike the others, Thane didn’t see rivals—he saw potential comrades.

Bloodline Note: Ironblood lineage from ancestors who’d merged with metal-attribute treasures. His bloodline made understanding earth and metal almost intuitive, bones naturally incorporating metal principles. But raw talent wasn’t enough for true mastery—his 35% Earth Law comprehension represented years of hard work building on natural advantage.

4. Yuki Frostwhisper - Female, appeared 20, actually 15

Shy, observant, with Pure Ice Law at 42%—highest single-Law comprehension among the candidates. Satellite Orbit Stage 78.

She sensed Celestia’s ice affinity immediately. Another ice user. But her aura... it’s so much stronger. How?

Yuki had always been praised as a genius. Now she wondered if she’d been a big fish in a small pond.

Bloodline Note: Frost Spirit lineage from an ice world’s indigenous population. Her bloodline made ice comprehension natural as breathing. Her 42% Law mastery was considered miraculous on her homeworld. But meeting Celestia—whose Ice Law was at perfect 100% mastery—revealed the gap between talent and true genius.

5. Darius Goldenshield - Male, appeared 26, actually 20

Banking dynasty heir with Light Law at 18%, Gold Law at 16%. Satellite Orbit Stage 88. Currently unconscious in medical bay after the probing incident.

His last thought before fainting had been: Impossible. That pressure... like Grandfather, but Grandfather is Black Hole realm...

Bloodline Note: Goldlight lineage from merchant families who’d cultivated wealth-attribute techniques for millennia. His bloodline made light and gold comprehension easier, but also made him arrogant. Natural gifts without corresponding effort led to shallow understanding—his 18% Light Law showed potential, but lacked depth.

6. Zara Voidwalker - Female, appeared 24, actually 19

Assassin clan product with Void Law at 38%, Space Law at 33%. Satellite Orbit Stage 114. She’d been one of the seven who scanned... and one of the few who remained conscious, though shaken.

Danger, her instincts screamed. Maximum danger. Avoid unless absolutely necessary.

She melted into shadows, putting distance between herself and Runar.

Bloodline Note: Voidborn lineage from ancestors who’d survived in the space between spaces. Her bloodline made void and space comprehension natural for stealth and assassination. Her 38% Void Law was exceptional, but encountering Runar—whose mastery dwarfed hers—taught humility.

7. Marcus Sunfire - Male, appeared 27, actually 21

Pure warrior with Fire Law at 29%, Solar Law at 24%. Satellite Orbit Stage 95. Unlike others, he wasn’t afraid—he was excited.

”Strong opponents!” he grinned. ”Finally, people worth fighting!”

He started walking toward Runar immediately.

Bloodline Note: Sunborn lineage from a world orbiting a binary star. His bloodline made fire and solar comprehension instinctive, his body naturally absorbing stellar radiation. His 29% Fire Law showed promise, but his battle-hunger sometimes outpaced his wisdom.

Understanding Power - Author’s Worldbuilding

The candidates assembled here represented the top 0.0001% of their generation across an entire galactic cluster. Each had natural talent, prestigious bloodlines, and years of dedicated cultivation.

But talent alone didn’t determine combat power.

Cultivation was mathematics made manifest—reality-altering equations imposed through Intent, Law, or Rule, powered by personal energy. The effectiveness depended on multiple factors:

Factor 1: Energy DensityLike comparing a laser to a flashlight. Both produce light, but concentration matters. Runar’s qi was compressed to subatomic precision—each particle carried exponentially more power than normal cultivation energy. Celestia’s Primordial-grade physique gave similar density. The other candidates’ energy, while impressive, was orders of magnitude less concentrated.

Factor 2: Control PrecisionPerfect qi control minimized waste. Where normal cultivators lost 50-70% efficiency in technique execution, Runar and Celestia approached 100% efficiency. This came from soul strength—their souls, tempered by years of Law comprehension and Pocket Universe training, could manipulate energy at particle levels. The other candidates had strong souls from bloodline blessings, but nothing comparable.

Factor 3: Technique ComplexityTechniques were reality-programming. A Mortal-grade technique was simple arithmetic. A Supreme-grade technique was advanced calculus. A Primordial-grade technique was solving equations that redefined mathematical laws.

The candidates knew Divine and Supreme-grade techniques—impressive by any standard. But Runar and Celestia wielded Primordial-grade techniques with perfect execution. The complexity difference was like comparing a calculator to a quantum computer.

Factor 4: Law MasteryThis was the critical difference.

The candidates had 15-42% Law comprehension—remarkable for their age, largely thanks to bloodlines that made comprehension easier. Khan’s 23% Lightning Law let him manipulate lightning instinctively. Yuki’s 42% Ice Law made her the pride of her world.

But comprehension percentage wasn’t linear. The difference between 40% and 100% wasn’t just numerical—it was categorical.

At 40%, you understood how to use a Law. At 100%, you understood what the Law fundamentally WAS.

Runar had 1,049 Laws at perfect 100% mastery. Celestia had 5 Laws at perfect mastery with flawless fusion capability. The gap between them and the other candidates wasn’t just size—it was dimensionality.

Bloodlines gave talent. Training gave skill. But true genius came from perfect synthesis of all factors: dense energy, perfect control, complex techniques, and complete comprehension.

That’s why Runar and Celestia terrified those who glimpsed their true power.

They weren’t just strong—they’d transcended normal cultivation paradigms entirely.

Social Dynamics Begin

As medical staff removed the six unconscious candidates(one remained conscious), the social atmosphere shifted dramatically.

Before: Casual arrogance, everyone confident in their own genius.

After: Wary respect, clear hierarchy emerging.

Girls Approaching Runar:

Lyra Moon approached first, her movements graceful and calculated. ”You’re quite handsome. Where are you from?”

Several other female candidates giggled nearby, whispering among themselves. All had noticed Runar’s striking appearance—silver hair, starlight eyes, the build of a young god.

Celestia’s aura immediately dropped thirty degrees. Ice crystals literally formed in the air around her.

Runar smiled politely. ”Thank you, but I’m taken.” He gestured to Celestia beside him. ”She’s my partner. In every sense.”

Lyra’s smile never faltered, but her eyes sharpened with calculation. Taken. Noted. But relationships can change...

She retreated gracefully, already planning long-term strategies.

Boys Approaching Celestia:

Khan Storm swaggered over, lightning crackling faintly around him. ”You’re the most beautiful woman I’ve seen. What’s your name?”

Celestia didn’t even look at him. Her ice-cold stare remained fixed ahead, presence radiating absolute zero.

”Hey, I’m talking to—” Khan started.

The temperature dropped another forty degrees. His breath misted. Ice formed on his expensive robes.

”She’s not interested,” Runar said calmly, not threateningly—just stating fact.

Khan’s pride warred with survival instinct. He’d seen what happened to people who pushed these two.

”...Your loss,” he muttered, retreating.

Other boys tried different approaches:

”My family controls three star systems—” Temperature drop.

”I’ve mastered Supreme-grade techniques—” Glacial indifference.

”Here, accept this Supreme-grade treasure as a gift—” Literally frozen mid-offer, had to thaw himself out.

The message became clear: Celestia was not interested in anyone except Runar.

The Incident - Darius Goldenshield (Part 2)

Darius had recovered from his fainting episode, though his pride hadn’t recovered from the humiliation.

He’d been one of the seven who’d scanned Runar. He’d felt that pressure. And in his wounded ego, he’d convinced himself it was a trick—some defensive formation, not real power.

She rejected everyone, he thought, watching Celestia. Probably playing hard to get. Waiting for someone of real status to approach.

He walked over with supreme confidence, flanked by two other banking dynasty candidates.

”A woman like you needs a man of proper status,” Darius announced. ”I am Darius of the Goldenshield Dynasty. My family controls 40% of Federation banking. Alliance with me would benefit your entire homeworld. You should—”

He reached out to touch her shoulder—a possessive, sexually inappropriate gesture that assumed acceptance.

Celestia moved.

A single hand flick. Not even a technique. Just pure physical movement backed by her Primordial-grade physique.

CRACK

The sound echoed through the hall like a gunshot.

Darius flew backward, crossing the entire stadium-sized space in less than a second. He crashed into the far wall—reinforced to withstand Supernova-level attacks—with enough force that the wall actually cracked.

He embedded in the crater, unconscious before his mind could register what happened.

The medical scan would later reveal: Seven broken ribs. Fractured sternum. Cracked meridians throughout his chest. Punctured lung. Minor internal bleeding. Severe concussion.

Not life-threatening for a cultivator, but painful. And humiliating.

Aftermath

The hall went absolutely silent.

Everyone stared at the Darius-shaped crater in the wall. Then at Celestia, who stood exactly where she’d been, hand still raised from the casual flick, expression showing mild annoyance at the interruption.

Vice-Captain Meridian, who’d been observing from the entrance, spoke calmly: ”He touched without permission. Legally justified self-defense. Medical staff, collect him.”

Supernova realm medics rushed to extract Darius from the wall he was deeply embedded into.

The other candidates backed away from Celestia rapidly, giving her a wide berth.

New assessment spreading through the group: That woman is DANGEROUS. Not just beautiful—lethal. Approach at your own risk.

Khan Storm looked at Celestia with new interest—not romantic now, but competitive. She’s strong. Really strong. I want to fight her.

The boys who’d been approaching retreated hastily.

Several candidates who’d been plotting various schemes reconsidered their plans.

Runar’s Reaction

Runar calmly walked over to Celestia, completely unconcerned by the violence.

”You okay?” he asked gently, taking her hand.

”I’m fine,” Celestia said, her cold demeanor softening only for him. ”Just establishing boundaries.”

”Good boundaries.”

The other candidates now understood completely: These two were together. Romantically, professionally, in every way that mattered.

They were also clearly the strongest people in this room by a significant margin.

Some candidates were disappointed. Some relieved. Many began calculating how to avoid antagonizing them.

A few, like Marcus Sunfire, just grinned excitedly at the prospect of strong opponents.

Quarters Assignment

Vice-Captain Meridian stepped forward, projecting a holographic map.

”Candidate social time is concluded. You will now be escorted to your assigned quarters. Each candidate receives a private suite with the following specifications:”

Suite Features:

1,000 square meters internal space Bedroom, training room, meditation chamber, full facilities Cultivation pool filled with liquid spiritual energy Qi density: 1,000x standard planetary levels Time dilation: 1:10 (10 hours inside = 1 hour outside) Primordial-grade privacy formations Cannot be breached without permission

”Your suite assignments are based on alphabetical order by surname. You will find your designated section and room number on your academy-issued tokens.”

Runar checked his token: Section A-7, Tower of Stars, Room 4701

Celestia checked hers: Section A-8, Tower of Moon, Room 3905

They exchanged glances. Different towers, but probably close.

”Candidates, follow your designated guides to your quarters,” Meridian commanded. ”You have six hours to settle in. Mandatory orientation meeting begins at 22:00 ship-time. Do not be late.”

Groups of candidates were led away by Supernova realm soldiers, each heading toward different sections of the massive ship.

As Runar and Celestia followed their guides, Marcus Sunfire fell into step beside them.

”That was amazing back there!” he said enthusiastically. ”The way you handled those scanners, and how she—” he gestured at Celestia, ”—sent Goldenshield flying! Can we spar sometime? I need strong opponents!”

Runar studied him. Unlike the others, Marcus showed no calculation, no schemes—just genuine enthusiasm for combat.

”Maybe,” Runar said. ”After we settle in.”

”Yes!” Marcus pumped his fist. ”I’m in Tower of Fire, by the way. Marcus Sunfire. Looking forward to fighting you both!”

He branched off toward his own section, still grinning.

”He’s... enthusiastic,” Celestia observed.

”Better than the manipulators and schemers,” Runar noted. ”At least his intentions are honest.”

They continued through the massive ship, taking mental notes of everything they saw, preparing for whatever challenges lay ahead.

The seven-day journey to Prime Origin Academy had truly begun.
