High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 372: Chapter 41 My Commander My Group_1

”We are now electing the leader of the ’Absolution Knights’... Any self-nominations?”

Zheng Qing pounded on the table and shouted.

Xin Fat Man, who had been wrestling with the Orange Cat, finally quieted down.

”I forfeit!” The fat man gripped the cat’s foreleg tightly, trying his best to stay away from its open claws. He gasped and shouted, ”I forfeit... The chief editor said that I have to go on fieldwork starting next week... You guys probably won’t be able to find me most of the time... You damn cat, let go of my hand!!”

During his speech, the Orange Cat shrank its body and slipped through his fingers, landing on the desk, and with a leap, it jumped on his head, launching a fierce attack with its claws.

Zheng Qing shrugged, ignoring the wailing Fat Man, and turned his gaze to the Blue Bird next to him.

”I forfeit.” Blue Bird indifferently refused, seemingly not even moving his lips.

Zheng Qing cocked his head, showing understanding.

For a man who barely speaks ten words a day, it seems indeed unfit to be the leader of a club.

”I nominate myself! I nominate myself!” Lin Guo raised his arm high and jumped around the desk, shouting out loud: ”I nominate myself... I want to be the leader! I can write you a campaign outline!”

Zheng Qing’s mouth twitched, but he did not immediately respond.

He had discovered that since getting to know each other better, young Lin Guo had transitioned from appearing ’small but reliable’ to ’seemingly reliable but a bit unpredictable’.

Perhaps this was a side effect of his strange timeline.

”Quiet.” The Blue Bird pressed down on Lin Guo’s head, stopping his noisy behavior.

Feeling the restless agitation under his palm, this Starry Sky student, who usually carries a cold face, uncharacteristically explained a bit more: ”You’re still a child... All you need to do is study.”

Hearing this, Lin Guo, although still somewhat dissatisfied, obediently closed his mouth and stopped struggling.

”Minors can’t sign contracts with magical effects... This is one of the basic rules of all magical contracts under the Wizards Alliance, used to avoid evil practices such as child labor, child trafficking, etc.” Xiao Xiao’s head was buried in his notebook, his voice sounded listless: ”In other words, Lin Guo’s eligibility to run is naturally denied because club leaders need to leave their mark on the association’s contract. Also, I forfeit.”

”Why do you forfeit?!” Zheng Qing sighed deeply, glancing at Watermelon’s head buried in his notebook, maliciously predicting that his soul is slowly being devoured by that notebook.

”No time.” Xiao Xiao gave a dry answer, but ultimately refused to explain further.

”No time? No time? Only dead people have no time.” Zheng Qing muttered, gradually feeling somewhat impatient.

”Hey, hey, I’m hearing discriminatory language!” Dylan’s head rested on the coffin’s edge, grinding his teeth, revealing two small, stark-white fangs, protesting: ”Isn’t a dead person’s time still time? Why say dead people have no time!”

”You know what I mean... It’s just a figure of speech.” Zheng Qing turned around, looking helpless.

Since he came to this school, he found himself having to deal with more and more of these petty matters that have been turned into legal and moral issues.

”No explanations needed... I forfeit as well.” Dylan’s head slowly descended from the edge of the coffin and gradually disappeared, only a sigh from the shadows: ”Given our different schedules, you wouldn’t want advice from a guy who’s always in the shadows for your actions under the sun... Besides, as a 1,800-year-old man, what I need is rest for the soul... I’ve lost the passion for life, forgotten the taste of dreams, alas.”

Zheng Qing forcefully restrained his desire to retort, turned his stiff neck, and looked at the last candidate in the dorm room.

”I forfeit too!” Zhang Ji Xin immediately raised his hand, his square face crumpled into an oval: ”Although I’m still alive, I really don’t have the time... Before school started, my family arranged a series of intensive training for me, supervised by my older brother... If there’s a day I don’t come to school, it’s probably because my brother broke my leg.”

He spoke so pitifully that Zheng Qing ran out of words to ask him to do anything else.

”Although no one voluntarily stepped forward, the voting process must continue since it’s necessary... We need a leader,” said the young cost student, sounding effeminate, propping up his chin, sounding rather downcast: ”The leader is a must.”

But when everyone turned their faces toward him, he was startled and sensed something amiss.

”You don’t have any student council tasks.” Zhang Ji Xin stroked his chin and nodded at Zheng Qing.

”You’re not a part of any club at school.” Xin Fat Man moved the cat face in front of his eyes and looked at him, grinning wickedly.

”You’re of age.” Lin Guo dryly pouted.

”So young.” Dylan sighed sadly.

”And everyone knows you pretty well.” Xiao Xiao tapped on the table, adjusted his glasses, and said, ”Let’s happily decide.”

Decided what?!

What’s decided?!

Where’s the happiness?!

They didn’t even ask for my opinion!

Zheng Qing, like a furred-up Tuan Tuan, bounced up from his chair, shouting, ”This isn’t fair!”

”There’s no such thing as fair or unfair in the world.” Zhang Ji Xin extended his arm and comforted him with a pat on the shoulder.

The young scholarship student took a deep breath and suddenly calmed down.

He squints his eyes and smiled, ”If that’s the case, I’m going to exercise my rights as the leader ... command number one: designate Xiao Xiao to succeed the club president in one minute.”

”So, you agree then.” Xiao Xiao grabbed the red application form in front of Lin Guo, wrote Zheng Qing’s name on it, confirmed, saying, ”So, this agenda is over... uh, let me see, I have basically completed the rest of the textual work, so, today’s general meeting ends here. The application form will be sent to the Club Union as soon as possible, and there will be relevant conclusions around Wednesday ... President Zheng, remember to sign and seal in the Union Office.”

”Wow!” The dorm was filled with the clapping and whistling.

Mixed in was an unusual sound.

”Timeout! Timeout!” Zheng Qing pounded on the table, trying to control the rhythm of the meeting.

But everyone’s attention was clearly elsewhere: Xin Fat Man began to pack up the paper, ink, brush, and inkstone needed for the afternoon Talisman class, Zhang Ji Xin and Lin Guo continued their unfinished Hunting chess, and Dylan silently pulled over his coffin lid behind the curtains, silently starting his sleep mode.

”Didn’t I just issue a command?” Zheng Qing looked at Xiao Xiao with a puzzled face: ”Aren’t you the second leader?!”

”Club presidents must be unanimously elected by all club members.” Xiao Xiao glanced at him, dryly responded: ”You do not have the right to represent all members’ congress resolutions.”

”Can I automatically give up this position?”

”You have no right to veto the resolution of the general assembly.”

”If I can’t do this or that, what the hell is this leader for!” Zheng Qing was upset.

A warning knock came from Dylan’s coffin.

”Sorry! That’s not what I meant...” Zheng Qing apologized weakly.

”Your work is quite extensive,” Xiao Xiao opened the notebook and read a paragraph: ”You need to liaise with the school to handle related registration matters; reserve team building venues with school affairs; prepare beverages and snacks for everyone; communicate with some professors, provide some special training for our club... Of course, if the club later forms a hunting team, you will automatically become the Hunting Team Leader, which can be considered a perk.”

”That’s bullshit perk.” Zheng Qing was still somewhat depressed: ”I don’t even know how many people are in the hunting team... And, it costs money to prepare snacks! Will you guys pay the club fee?”

”Ah! It’s already half-past one, I have to go to class!” Lin Guo suddenly screamed, snatched the bag next to the table, and ran away instantly.

Blue Bird silently followed him.

”I’ll go and save seats for you!” Xin Fat Man threw Fat Cat on the bed and hopped towards the door.

Zheng Qing had no idea that the fat man could move so quickly.

”And me, I’ll also help save seats.” Zhang Ji Xin chuckled and quickly followed.

Zheng Qing caught Xiao Xiao’s robe, breathed a sigh of relief: ”Thank goodness, there’s one left.”

Xiao Xiao adjusted his glasses and placed his hand in front of Zheng Qing: ”Consultation fee... and labor costs from last night till now, and fees for arranging materials and preparing files... credits or jade coins?”

Zheng Qing’s hand trembles, almost fell on the ground.
