High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 361: Chapter 30 Capricious Professor_1

In every Monday morning class, there were always students who were still sleepy.

In order to continue their cozy meetings with the Duke of Zhou in their dreams, and truly find themselves in tranquility, seats at the back of the classroom have always been in high demand.

Of course, as much as there were those who took a lazy approach to class, there were also those who faced it positively.

Within the crowd of students with a positive attitude towards class, even though there was no lack of truly ’studious’ students such as Tang Dun, Matthew Karen, Jiang Yu, and Liu Fei Fei, there were also opportunists like Sin Banna.

In order to leave a good impression on the dean of Jiuyou Academy, and to receive a good evaluation on the magic spell Professor’s report card, every Monday morning, Xin Fat Man would surely arrive at the classroom early, sitting at the front of the classroom, displaying his youthful vitality with full energy.

However, this morning, the fat boy was a bit late.

Not only that, he didn’t sit in the front row seat that the girls had specially saved for him, but instead laid listlessly in the second-to-last row, holding onto the Law book, squeezing in with those ’depraved’ male students.

This really surprised many people.

Of course, you can’t blame Xin Fat Man.

After all, he never thought that a cat would take his place in class, nor how to teach a cat to play the role of a good student in class.

After finishing his chicken leg, due to the agreement he made with Zheng Qing, the Fat Cat, disguised as Fat Man, could only lay helplessly on the table with his eyes squinted in a nap, killing the leisurely time left in the morning.

Unlike the potion’s thorough transformation from the inside out, the mimicry rune does nothing more than create a decent-looking shell around a living creature.

Anyone who has a rough understanding of the person being imitated, or an animal, can turn this ’suit’ into another look.

This illusion is so crude that it’s even inferior to many sophisticated illusion techniques.

But as a tool to fool the teacher in the classroom, as long as it doesn’t attract attention and stays low-key, it should be enough.

It should be, right?

The young scholarship student rubbed the law book in his hands nervously, muttering to himself and trying hard to suppress the thought of driving the fat boy in front of him out of the classroom.

Despite Duan Xiao Jian not intending to kick Xin Fat Man out of the classroom, he earnestly hoped that the ’positive’ scholarship student would vacate the seat.

This hunchbacked, skinny boy stood pitifully beside Fat Man’s seat, weakly shaking his arm and pleading, ”My bro, haven’t you always been sitting in the front row? Why are you stealing seats from those of us who fall asleep often?”

Although the orange cat could understand what he was saying, it had no intention of getting up.

Are you kidding me? If I give up my seat for you, will you give me a chicken leg?

Fat Man was lazily sprawled out on the desk, snoring, disregarding the pleas next to him. He simply turned his head, found a more comfortable posture, and laid down, completely ignoring the request.

Helpless, Duan Xiao Jian could only keep turning around every three steps, and with a belly full of complaints, reluctantly sat in the front row.

At the back of the classroom, Zheng Qing breathed a sigh of relief and gave Zhang Ji Xin beside him a thumbs up.

Hiding from a student at such a close distance might make it possible to deceive the professor at a slightly farther distance, right?

The young scholarship student regained some confidence.

...

Accompanied by the shrill alarm of the stick figure, the figure of the magical spell professor broke into the sight of these new students again in a hurry.

”Good morning, students!”

Old Yao strode onto the podium, waving his hand at everyone while he grabbed the chair behind the podium and sat down: ”Sit down everyone, sit down.”

”Good morning, sir!” The students in the classroom bowed and sat down, trying to suppress their yawning as much as possible.

As a veteran professor, Old Yao was well aware of this state and didn’t get angry, only raising his eyelids to scan the classroom.

Then he saw what looked like a big orange, which was Xin Fat Man.

And then he blinked.

Zheng Qing sat upright, his gaze fixed on Fat Man’s figure in front, praying to all the gods and Buddhas in his heart that the professor hadn’t noticed this unimpressive corner.

Old Yao paused for a while, took out that black pipe from his robe, stuffed some golden tobacco into it, then sparked it up, and a wisp of green smoke started burning.

He smacked his lips, looking with interest at the young scholarship student who was pretending to be studying the textbook, cleared his throat, and drawled, ”The greetings sound listless... come on, let me take roll, wake up, be energetic!”

Roll call?!?

Zheng Qing instantly felt baffled.

Although according to the teaching rules posted behind the classroom door, each teacher needs to take roll at the beginning of each class.

However, for a wizard at Old Yao’s level, a glance suffices to know how many mosquitoes there are in the room, let alone twenty-odd human beings. This is why the professors rarely perform this formal procedure, and Zheng Qing had overlooked this when asking Tuan Tuan for help.

Well, Tuan Tuan doesn’t speak!

The orange cat that was dosing off and nodding its head instantly raised its head, its round ears instantly perked up.

”Ears!” Zheng Qing gritted his teeth, stretching out his leg to kick the chair of the fat guy in the front row: ”The fat bastard won’t perk up his ears!”

Tuan Tuan’s ears instantly drooped down.

Then he cautiously turned his head and squeezed his eyes at Zheng Qing, smirking.

Zheng Qing understood what he meant: I can’t talk, you figure it out!

”Tang Dun!” Old Yao had already opened the roll-call book and started calling names seriously.

”Here!” Tang, the headmaster, is always serious and is now standing up and formally responding.

Zheng Qing looked at Xiao Xiao for help in desperation but found that the busy doctor was flipping through a three-inch-thick dictionary, uttering words, and messing with the red form without any perception of other things around.

”Zheng Qing!”

Professor Yao’s loud voice disrupted the young public-fees student’s unrest.

The speed of the roll call was unexpectedly fast.

”Here!” After Zheng Qing answered, he didn’t sit down but instead plucked up the courage to say: ”Professor, Sin·Banna accidentally took the wrong medication yesterday ... so his throat was hurt, the doctor told him not to speak today.”

Other students turned around curiously to look at the fat man who took the wrong medicine.

The orange cat did not shy away, calmly nodded its head at the surroundings and pointed to its throat.

”Took the wrong medicine!” Professor Yao was astounded and quickly descended from the podium and came to Sin Fat Man, patted his head, and asked gently: ”Is it serious? Do you have sick leave from the hospital? Do you need to rest?”

Tuan Tuan squinted its eyes as it was being petted, comfortably purring.

Zheng Qing hastily poked it and chuckled to the professor: ”It’s okay, it’s okay... it’s a small issue... He needs to rest well today, and he doesn’t need to talk.”

Tuan Tuan sat up straight, nodded seriously and then opened its mouth to ”ow”.

Zheng Qing couldn’t help but sweat coldly.

”Oh, so it’s like this!” Old Yao continued to pat Tuan Tuan’s head absently, giving a long lecture: ” I remember from Professor Li of Potion classes that you stepped on a Bowl Flower in the medicinal garden and then licked a plate for a week ... why are you always so careless? Although you are all adults now, I know that many of you are living independently for the first time, so you have to learn to take care of yourself!”

Tuan Tuan was sitting up straight at first, but as Old Yao kept petting, it couldn’t help but lie down on the table and start purring happily.

Zheng Qing stood on the side, dryly explaining: ”He took medication this morning, and he seems to be producing some phlegm.”

”Well, the rest of you as well.” Old Yao squinted at Zheng Qing, giving him the shivers, then added meaningfully: ”Don’t think that just because you’re an adult, you can do whatever you want. You must have some reverence in your heart. Otherwise today you’ll just be lying on the table, and tomorrow you might be lying on a hospital bed!”

A cacophony of responses sounded in the classroom.

Old Yao raised his law book lightly and knocked on the young public-fees student’s head and returned to the podium.

Zheng Qing held his head and took a few breaths, then suddenly saw that a fluffy tail had appeared from Sin Fat Man’s trousers. He quickly poked it again.

The tail was immediately taken back by the Fat Cat.

”Originally, I planned to talk to you about the ’Yuan Chen Guardian Spell’ in this class, but everyone’s state this morning is not very good... And even someone is sick!” Yao said, paused for a moment, looked at Zheng Qing and Sin, and continued: ”So, we will postpone this class’s content to Wednesday.”

’Yuan Chen Guardian’ is a very, very important spell. This spell is related to your registered wizard exams, related to your official wizard promotion ceremony, so everyone must be in their best state for Wednesday’s class, do you understand? ”

”Understood!”

”Got it!”

”Meow!”

This time, a somewhat neat response sounded from below the stage.

”Then this class, let’s talk about the Philosophy of Magic.”

Although Philosophy of Magic is just a school-wide general education course, the professors teaching it are senior professors from the four academies. This course does not involve specific spell, potions, talismans, and other operations, it’s just a simple theory course and it’s relatively easy to catch up with.

But professor!” Tang Dun suddenly raises his hand, interrupting the professor’s lecture: ”What about others?”

Although he didn’t elaborate, everyone understood the meaning of this question.

Magic class is a small class, and the students attending it are only from Astronomy Class 08-01.

While the Philosophy of Magic is a large class, the students attending it not only include Jiuyou Academy students, but also students from Starry Sky Academy, Alpha Academy, and even second or third-year defective students who are retaking the course.

Therefore, facing Old Yao’s capricious adjustment of the course schedule, the headmaster Tang expressed his puzzlement,”Do we need to inform the students who will attend the Philosophy Class on Wednesday?”

”Also, how do I note this on my daily class record...” Jiang Yu, the monitor, also raised his hand, expressing his helplessness.
