Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 2995: Chapter 2931: Does It Have Anything to Do With Him?

”Go ahead and make the call, I’m going out for a bit to buy groceries. I’ll cook something delicious for you tonight. You stay at home and don’t take a step outside the door.”

Meng Xinian pretended to glare at her fiercely.

Jiang Xiao laughed, ”As you command!”

Zhu Shun answered Jiang Xiao’s call.

When he heard this request, he pondered for quite a while.

Jiang Xiao thought he found the task too difficult, given how many years had passed. She pursed her lips and said, ”Brother Shun, if it’s too hard...”

On the other end, Zhu Shun snapped back to reality and quickly said, ”No, no, it’s not hard, sister-in-law. What’s hard about it? I was just thinking about something.”

Jiang Xiao was puzzled.

While she’s talking about this matter, he’s thinking about something else—is it related?

”Let me tell you, recently Boss Du seems to be planning to go abroad.”

When Zhu Shun said this, Jiang Xiao was stunned again.

Going abroad?

”Why? Isn’t he doing quite well here? Why would he want to go abroad now?”

He’s doing so well domestically, and still wants to go abroad?

The people who want to leave at this time are all thinking of striking it rich abroad.

Someone like Boss Du, letting go of what he has now to go abroad—wouldn’t that be a bit of a waste?

Could he really do it?

Zhu Shun said, ”I see he seems a bit anxious recently, so I also wanted to ask you, has something happened recently?”

What happened that’s related to Boss Du and affecting him?

Jiang Xiao thought about it but wasn’t sure if she should tell him.

Hu Xiangyong has died.

Nian Che has died.

Could these be related to Boss Du?

”Hard to say?”

”Some things have indeed happened recently, but I’m not sure if they are related to Boss Du, so I really don’t know where to start,” Jiang Xiao said honestly.

Zhu Shun responded with an ’hmm,’ without thinking Jiang Xiao was hiding anything. He thought for a moment and said, ”Recently Boss Du wasn’t in Pingzhou; he went to Huchuan City.”

Huchuan?

Jiang Xiao knew this city, but had never been there and rarely heard anyone mention it because it’s far from both the Capital City and City M.

So she had never considered such a place.

Now hearing Zhu Shun mention it suddenly, she had to think for a moment to recall where Huchuan is.

”Did he go for work?” she asked.

”I heard from Da Long that he went over there to meet someone, said that a woman quite important to Boss Du had arrived in Huchuan. Da Long said that as soon as Boss Du received a call from the woman, he went to Huchuan overnight. And he seemed very excited; Da Long even told me that the woman might be Boss Du’s beloved, possibly a childhood friend.”

Childhood friend...

Someone like Boss Du, could he be so sentimental?

Jiang Xiao paused. ”Do you know the woman’s name?”

”I don’t know, but if you want to know, I could ask Da Long. He was with Boss Du when he took the call; he might have heard the woman’s name.”

”Alright, I appreciate it, Brother Shun.” Jiang Xiao felt that any clues related to Boss Du shouldn’t be missed.

”How many times have I said, no need to be so courteous, haha.” Zhu Shun chuckled and continued, ”As for that matter you mentioned earlier, I’ll investigate thoroughly. Actually, it’s not that difficult; back then, those who saw Second Miss Lu aren’t few. Ask some elders, and we might find something out. You know, in families like the Lu Family, many of the helpers have been with them for decades, practically living there in retirement.”
