Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 2968: Chapter 2904: It’s Fine as It Is

”Thank you.” She took the towel handed to her.

”Are you headed to the kitchen? There’s usually no one there at this time.”

”Okay.”

Wang Lili followed him to the kitchen. Meng Sheng turned on the fire and had her stand next to it.

It was just at the hem of her clothes, the spot close enough to the stove to dry quickly.

”Should I wait for you outside? Once you’re done, call for me, and I’ll come in to turn off the fire.” He was afraid she didn’t know how to turn it off.

Wasn’t that just like having him stand guard for her?

Wang Lili felt a little embarrassed and quickly said, ”Brother Meng Sheng, why don’t you just wait here for a bit.”

Waiting here was better than being alone and having him stand at the door.

Besides, she felt a bit uneasy being alone in someone else’s kitchen; it was better with him around.

”Alright, I’ll wait here, there’s no rush.”

Meng Sheng didn’t know that Wang Lili came over because his mother asked Jiang Xiao for it, and he also didn’t know that his mother had already taken a liking to Wang Lili at Kuang Yunxian’s wedding.

His interest in Wang Lili arose because he ended up sitting beside her and unconsciously noticed her graceful manner of eating, her rosy lips and white teeth, and how up close, she had a tiny red mole on her earlobe.

Meng Sheng couldn’t quite understand why he found that little mole so adorable.

Moreover, when Wang Lili introduced herself, she did it with such elegance, speaking just enough—not as loudly as Qin Xiaojun nor as introverted as Xie Landi.

She seemed to possess just the right amount of quietness, not exactly introverted, but rather someone with her own little world inside.

That’s why Meng Sheng paid attention to her.

When he saw her pour a little soda, for some reason, he followed her in.

”You seem to be really close with that girl, Qin Xiaojun.”

Afraid of an awkward silence, Meng Sheng started a conversation.

”Yeah, I’ve known Little Jun for a long time. We’ve been classmates all along.”

”I see. So you’re not that familiar with Little Chiang either, right? I noticed she doesn’t seem to go back to stay at school much.”

Wang Lili hadn’t expected Jiang Xiao to invite them over.

But upon hearing Meng Sheng’s words, she instinctively said, ”Right, we’re not particularly close. At first, we all thought Jiang Xiao was hard to get along with, but later realized that she’s very kind. As long as you don’t have bad intentions, she’s sincere and generous with everyone, and Jiang Xiao is very kind. So even though we haven’t spent much time together, I still think Jiang Xiao is a friend worth having.”

Hearing her say this, Meng Sheng couldn’t help but nod.

His parents had mentioned, seeing how Jiang Xiao and Meng Xinian dealt with the Meng family’s relatives, that these two kids were heartless and hard to associate with.

But he felt that Jiang Xiao and Meng Xinian were the same kind of people who might seem difficult to get along with at first, but they’re actually the easiest to get along with.

Just like Wang Lili said, as long as you don’t have bad intentions, they’re sincere and generous.

For instance, when his parents helped out here, even though Old Meng gave them a little stipend, his dad told him that Jiang Xiao had given him money twice—once eight hundred—and also gave him some tea leaves.

Eight hundred bucks, that’s really quite a lot!

When he helped Jiang Xiao by keeping an eye on Nian Che and Deng Qingjiang, Jiang Xiao always told him not to be stingy with the necessary expenses, and she also gave him quite a bit of money each time.
