Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 2735: Chapter 2671: There Was Something Wrong With That Fire

Except for that car, there was no one else around.

Such a car definitely wouldn’t belong to someone from Linchang Town; it’s very likely they came from the Capital City.

Gao Shan stood there hesitantly, unsure whether he should turn around and head back to the factory to avoid the newcomers.

But while he hesitated, Luo Yongsheng had already gotten out of the car and called out to him.

”Gao Shan?”

Gao Shan had no choice but to walk over.

Jiang Xiao, sitting in the car, noticed that he had a slight limp, something not easily noticed without careful observation.

Had this always been the case?

Was he born with it?

But rarely would someone choose a person with a limp to be a mayor, right?

”Who are you?”

Gao Shan approached the car and saw two more people inside, looking at Luo Yongsheng with a face full of vigilance.

Luo Yongsheng opened the rear door for him.

”Could we trouble you for a moment? We have something to ask you.” Seeing his reluctance to get into the car, Luo Yongsheng added, ”We just want a quieter place to talk. Don’t worry, we won’t do anything to you.”

Gao Shan bent down and saw Jiang Xiao sitting in the back seat, and he froze.

Another beautiful young lady?

”Gao Shan, get in. We’ll bring you back later.” Seeing his look, Jiang Xiao already knew he wasn’t like his nephew. When he saw her, there was only surprise in his eyes, no lewdness.

So, her tone towards Gao Shan softened quite a bit.

Gao Shan glanced at Luo Yongsheng and Guan Tiezhu sitting in the front seat, thought for a while, and still asked, ”Who are you? What do you want to ask me?”

”My surname is Jiang, and they are my friends. I just want to inquire about something.”

Seeing how persistent they were, Gao Shan had no choice but to get into the car.

Guan Tiezhu drove the car to a secluded area with no traffic.

Guan Tiezhu and Luo Yongsheng got out of the car and stood on each side outside.

Seeing their actions, Gao Shan’s heart tightened again.

Are these really friends?

They don’t seem like friends at all.

He hesitantly said, ”They look like your bodyguards.”

Jiang Xiao didn’t expect him to speak up, smiled, and admitted, ”You’re right. They are indeed my bodyguards. Director Gao, I want to ask you about some things from the past.”

”You’d better call me Old Gao, or, or just call me Director Gao. I, I’m no longer the mayor.”

”Alright, I’ll call you Director Gao then.”

Jiang Xiao asked, ”Back then, were you familiar with Luofeng Institute? I want to ask you about someone. In 1982, she should still have been at Luofeng Institute.”

Upon hearing the words Luofeng Institute, Gao Shan’s heart suddenly thumped.

He almost wanted to open the car door and bolt.

He trusted his instincts; they were indeed here for Luofeng Institute!

”I, I don’t know. I’m not familiar with Luofeng Institute either. If you’re looking for someone, you can’t ask me.”

Jiang Xiao’s eyes flickered.

”Is Luofeng Institute so terrifying? You don’t even know who I’m looking for, and you’re already this scared.”

Jiang Xiao realized this, and her heart sank.

So, there’s definitely a problem.

Either there is something wrong with Luofeng Institute itself, or there’s an issue with that fire back then.

The lady in town said the mayor was dismissed after that fire, so is there some connection to that fire?

Gao Shan paused, remained silent for a long time, and then suddenly gave a bitter smile.

”I really can’t keep things hidden. No matter what, I can’t learn how to.”
