Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 2706: Chapter 2642: Can You Forgive Me

Just thinking about him possibly being in the midst of gunfire makes Chiang Xiao feel waves of pain.

Only a few days have passed in these two months, but why does it feel so long to her?

”What’s wrong, are you thinking about Xinian?” Jiang Shiheng seemed to sense her sudden drop in mood and guessed.

”Yes, Dad, I’m very worried about him.”

”Don’t worry too much. Xinian is smart, skilled, and he’ll surely cherish his life for your sake. Rest assured.”

Chiang Xiao responded.

”Dad, have you sent someone to find my mom?”

”Of course, I’ve already sent someone to look.”

Chiang Xiao fiddled with the phone cord and said, ”Actually, I think the name Qingshuang sounds very familiar, but I just can’t remember why...”

Before she finished the sentence, it was as if a flash of light burst through her mind. Chiang Xiao suddenly widened her eyes and exclaimed, ”No! Dad, I remember where I heard it!”

On the other side, Jiang Shiheng’s heart skipped a beat.

”What did you say? Where have you heard that name?”

”Drawing! Drawing!” Chiang Xiao almost bit her tongue, ”Before, a classmate in our class passed off someone else’s drawing as her own, and the signature on that drawing had a ’Qing’ character! Later, my boss found out that the artist was named Qingshuang, right in the Capital City!”

”In the Capital City? But, why would Xiao Qing go to the Capital City?”

If Xiao Qing was looking for him, she should know he wouldn’t likely run off to such a bustling city as the Capital. Back then, he and Xiao Qing were staying near Peace Town, a small, remote town, to avoid being hunted.

So, Xiao Qing, if she had been searching for him, shouldn’t have gone to the Capital City.

”Maybe it’s a namesake?” Chiang Xiao was not sure either. The creator of the painting Ye Wanqing brought back then was Shi Xiaoching. But, no matter what, they couldn’t let go of any hope, they had to take a look, right?

”Little, where in the Capital City is she?” Jiang Shiheng tightened his grip on the phone.

Xiao Qing...

”There was an address with the signature. I’ll go to school tomorrow to ask the teacher to look at that painting!”

Chiang Xiao was also a bit excited.

”Don’t worry, Dad, I’ll check it out tomorrow!”

”Alright, then get to bed early tonight...”

Get up early tomorrow.

That night, Jiang Shiheng finally dreamt of Shi Xiaoching, and his dreams were all about the past, those scenes of memories he once thought forgotten.

But, Shi Xiaoching was the deepest and most special memory of his youth. Why did he completely forget her before?

”Sixth Brother, if one day I wrong you, can you forgive me?”

Jiang Shiheng was jolted awake, sitting up suddenly to find himself drenched in sweat.

Dim light was filtering through the mosquito netting.

Dawn had arrived.

He sat on the bed, clutching the blanket, feeling cold all over.

Before waking up, Shi Xiaoching was looking at him with reddened eyes, asking that question.

If one day I wrong you, can you forgive me?

”Xiao Qing... What have you done to wrong me? Xiao Qing...”

Jiang Shiheng closed his eyes, thought of something, and got out of bed immediately. Without even putting on his shoes, he walked out barefoot, picked up the phone, and dialed that memorized number.

That night, Chiang Xiao kept dreaming about Meng Xinian.

Moreover, it was quite an embarrassing dream.

In the dream, Meng Xinian, with a bare chest, pinned her down beneath him, looking at her with deep eyes.

”Chiang Xiaoxiao, did you miss me? I’ve missed you so much I could die.”
