Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 2701: Chapter 2637: Anyway, the Engagement Was Canceled

Jiang Shiheng paused for a moment, then continued, ”But at that time, Miss Lu immediately returned our engagement token, and told the person I sent to deliver the message that she agreed to break off the engagement. She said I shouldn’t go over anymore, as long as I won’t regret it in the future. She also said that from then on, the Jiang Family and the Lu Family would be strangers, and she would seize any opportunity to trample the Jiang Family.”

In fact, Xiao Fu hadn’t told him these words back then, and the letter only contained a few sentences. Because everything was too rushed, there wasn’t time to elaborate.

But over twenty years later, in this phone call, Xiao Fu told him everything from back then in detail.

Xiao Fu remembered the events of that day clearly, as if they happened yesterday.

”Impossible, Shuangshuang has always been a sensible and kind child, how could she say such things?” Old Master Lu said angrily, ”It must be the messenger who made it all up!”

He was so angry his voice rose and saliva nearly flew from his mouth.

Lu Junyou reached out to support him, saying in a deep voice, ”Old Master, let’s not talk about this now. The most important thing is Miss Lu, we should get Miss Lu to the hospital first.”

He was a bit anxious in his heart because Lu Shuangshuang was carrying his child.

Old Master Lu felt that his anger had clouded his judgment.

But he also wanted to suppress the news of the broken engagement Jiang Shiheng mentioned, otherwise, once Lu Shuangshuang was carried out, rumors would immediately spread that the two families had long broken off the engagement. What about Lu Shuangshuang’s reputation? What about the Lu Family’s honor?

How could Jiang Shiheng possibly let him suppress this matter?

While they were still inside, arguing fiercely about this, the people sent by Yue Yang had already spread the news.

There were already quite a few people gathered outside the Jiang Family, it wouldn’t take long for the news to travel.

Two explosive pieces of news.

In those days, without much entertainment, very few people could afford televisions, and many couldn’t read, so newspapers and books weren’t accessible to everyone. So whenever something happened, many people would eagerly gather to watch.

Recently, the matters of the Jiang and Lu Families had been closely watched by everyone, and now, suddenly hearing of two big pieces of news exploding was like a droplet of water hitting a pan of boiling oil.

”No way? Is it true? Sixth Young Master Jiang and Miss Lu actually broke off their engagement twenty years ago?”

”It’s true! My uncle’s cousin’s nephew helps out at the Jiang Family, he heard it personally!”

”Quick, tell us, what else did you hear?”

”Just that Miss Lu returned the engagement token sent by Sixth Young Master Jiang all those years ago, and for some unknown reason, after Sixth Young Master’s accident and disappearance, she pretended it never happened. The Lu Family even made a fake token, and Sixth Young Master Jiang just exposed it!”

”That’s not right, at the time Sixth Young Master was missing, life or death unknown, what good would that do Miss Lu? Could it be she truly had deep feelings for Sixth Young Master?”

”No way, I spit on that! Deep feelings, my foot! Don’t you know why Miss Lu ended up being carried back unconscious this time?”

The mysterious tone in his voice immediately piqued everyone’s curiosity.

”That’s because Miss Lu is pregnant! It’s been two months already! Go ask, where was Miss Lu two months ago!”

”Oh my God! Did I hear that right?”
