Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 2461: Chapter 2397: Not So Friendly

So, he instinctively identified this man as middle-aged.

Then, upon closer inspection, he realized the man looked much younger than he had imagined.

However, he was sure he didn’t recognize this man.

”Who are you?”

”What, don’t recognize me?” The man looked at him, again showing a somewhat strange smile. ”What if I use another title? Eldest Uncle Meng?”

This title made Old Meng’s body tremble.

In his memory, only one person had ever called him that!

He looked at the man carefully once more, feeling a sense of familiarity. ”You, you are...”

”Take another look. You should still be able to recognize me, after all, I didn’t have much plastic surgery.”

”Pla... plastic surgery?”

Old Meng was startled.

Who would need to have plastic surgery?

What does plastic surgery mean?

Cutting up one’s face?

Could it be?

He scrutinized the man more closely, and the more he looked, the more familiar he appeared.

Old Meng was shocked. ”You, you wouldn’t be Nian Che, would you?”

”You’ve finally recognized me.”

If Chiang Xiao were here, she would have realized that this man was the one she had seen at the hospital, and also the one Du Jinruo once liked, called Kevin.

This is Nian Che.

Old Meng instinctively took a step back. ”Nian Che, why have you come back?”

”What, does Eldest Uncle Meng find it surprising? Didn’t Mutong mention when she stayed at the Meng Family home that I would be returning soon? Why then is Meng Dabo so surprised?”

”Mutong did mention it, but I remember you said back then that you would never return to the country again.”

”That was then, this is now,” Nian Che said. ”I’ve felt tired from wandering abroad for so many years. Although I’m not old yet, I also have this desire to return to my roots, so I came back. Eldest Uncle Meng, how have you been all these years?”

”Good, good, everything’s been good.”

”But how come I’ve heard that the Meng Family has been not so good? Quite a few things have happened? Like how Meng Chaojun was cuckolded, then divorced, and later got a terminal illness. Is it true he’s about to die?”

Nian Che had a smile on his handsome face, but his words were quite unpleasant.

”Also, I heard that your grandson also has a strained relationship with you? That he bought a new house with his fiancée and lives outside? Doesn’t even come back home?”

Nian Che glanced at the hospital and continued, ”In fact, I’ve been watching here for two days, and your grandson hasn’t appeared even though his father was hospitalized. He hasn’t even come to take a look.”

Old Meng’s face darkened.

”Nian Che, this is our family affair, how did you learn all this?”

”Your family affair?” Nian Che chuckled lightly, saying, ”Eldest Uncle Meng, don’t misunderstand, we are at least a bit related by family, right? Moreover, Meng Xinian should still call me uncle, shouldn’t he? So naturally, after coming back, I should be concerned about your situation.”

What he said didn’t seem wrong.

Yet, there was something odd about his tone, making it feel unpleasant.

Meng Donghai suppressed the displeasure in his heart and said, ”If you want to know about the Meng family’s situation, why not just come directly to us?”

Investigating the Meng family’s matters from the outside?

How could that not seem a bit dubious?

”I wasn’t sure if the Meng Family would welcome me,” Nian Che said with another smile. ”However, here I am now, aren’t I? Eldest Uncle Meng, let’s go. I’ll go inside with you to see my brother-in-law.”

Brother-in-law...
